Hi all, the end of the year is nearly upon us, and with only a few more flights for me left! Here is my second to last trip to Europe this year. I decided to head to Berlin for a few days, it was an enjoyable visit indeed! Anyhow, first time in a good while for me to fly out of Gatwick, I always enjoy flying from here, especially with Easyjet, who yet again fail to disappoint. A very pleasant flight across, lovely crew and an outstanding service as usual
Clear skies in the UK made for some great views after take off, we took off from runway 26L and shortly banked to the east giving some great views over Surrey and the South of England! Berlin on the other hand was a bit more cloudier, however once we broke through the clouds the approach was quite decent with some lovely Autumn lighting
I spent the following day here up at Tegel's observation deck which is literally the roof of the airport! So look out for a full compilation of spotting as well as my Full Flight video back to Heathrow with Eurowings. I'll also be flying from Gatwick again before Christmas with an airline I've wanted to fly with for a long long time, so keep an eye out

Great video. If you get to visit Berlin again before Tegel closes down I can only encourage you to planespot from the highway next to 26R. There's a planespotting spot on the hill right next to the highway and from there you'll be extremely close to the Touchdown zone on 26R which is used quite frequently as winds tend to flow from the west quite often. It's a fantastic view and where I spent most of my childhood. If you'd walk down the small streets there you could even stand right beneath the airplanes coming in at approximately 200 feet. It's quite the adventure and I know few airports with that many great spotting areas.
Actually you can see the spot at 40:14, just behind that little grey wall, people basically sit on that wall just to gaze at the planes or they just stay behind it and overlook the airfield from there.

I flew the same flight two weeks ago.
Nice tripreport, easyjet really saved Tegel and the general german aviation market otherwise the monopol of the LH group would be even more dominant.
Looking forward to the Tegel spotting, the airport with the shortest connecting ways :D, but that taxi route you took must have been the longest available at TXL :D.

Why don't they use 26R?
26R is very short and only used when the main runway is out of action.
The new Berlin Brandenburg Airport opens at the end of 2020, so Berlin Tegel will be no more.
