  • Indigenous Forum CIS Director Warren Mundine has praised Australia saying Australians have “something to celebrate about”.
Mr Mundine’s comments come as there are calls to change the date of Australia Day.
“We are probably one of the incredible nations that brought 26 million people from around the world," Mr Mundine said.
“We got all these amazing people in this country who have come here and I’m proud they chose Australia to really build this country into an amazing place.
“We’re probably the most successful multi-everything country in the world.”

Of course, the Woke mob, concerning Aboriginal matters, would likely look upon Warren Mundine, and those of Aboriginal descent, of similar mind, as 'Uncle Tom'!
On the other hand, I recall a guy, himself of Aboriginal descent, commenting about activists having pigmentation issues!

Australia Day has never been about who we were, it's always been about who we are. If you don't want to celebrate it, then don't but don't demand that others share your view, it's un-Australian and frankly, arrogant in the extreme.

AND same if you don’t want to celebrate 26th Jan. it’s an opinion and an interpretation of historical facts. Do not say I am not patriotic because I don’t want to celebrate the day a foreign officer with marines stood on the shores of the land I was born on and claim it for the king of that foreign land. I am far too proud to celebrate the invasion of my country!

'invasion' is just a pile of bullshit propaganda. The abs had no sovereignty over this land, and as a consequence, it was available through occupation, and that is what happened. Dispute it if you will, but take the matter up in the international court in The Hague. Just make sure you can pay your own legal bills; Aussie taxpayers don't want to be financial burdened by your ridiculous endeavours. @@danieledmunds588

Those who promote changing the date are fools. We are still celebrating the establishment of the first British colony. It's like demanding no one celebrate a birthday on a day of any tragedy because it offends the relatives of those who died. No one took Australia away, your standing in it.

How did many of us of Norse descent end up in Australia as Aussies that celebrate Australia Day, it began with religious fanatics invading our sacred Norse realms where they tried to hide their tracks to conceal any evidence of their invasion, we became displaced and wrongfully convicted of invading the land of the religious fanatics that invaded us, the original white nihilist political terrorist started the reign of terror in France with the objective to subject any sacred chieftains or sacred elders to a witch hunt and also the objective to abolish our sacred laws that ended slavery so they could traffick us as slaved convicts that escaped to many countries like Australia or America where we were welcomed into Australia and America by the sacred Aboriginal elders and the Cherokee chieftains that made peace with our Norse families that discovered America before Christopher Columbus from being displaced by the religious fanatics that invaded us. Many innocent cowboys from Prussian descent were welcomed into America by my Cherokee family that made peace with my Norse and Prussian family because they were innocent displaced people and not invaders that suffered from the French reign of terror that caused the fall of the Prussian empire of old Fritz during a failed attempt to invade Russia where the French terrorist failed to kill off both Russian and Prussian with puppetry that involved trying to make Russian's die trying to kill off the defeated Prussian that was left in peace by their awesome Russian brothers who I believe are like family to the Prussian cowboys and the Norse of America.

Australia became a nation on 1 January 1901 when 6 British colonies-New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania-united to form the Commonwealth of Australia.
Australia Day is the official national day of Australia. Observed annually on 26 January, it marks the 1788 landing of the First Fleet and raising of the Union Flag .
I hereby declare and pronounce that January 1st to January 26th be henceforth known as Australia Month. Hey, let's make it to the 31st. There it is - Australia Month.

I am so over the divisive crap about us and them over this date 26 January… instead of whining about such find a date ALL bloody AUSTRALIANS can agree on and be proud of …
I have found a few days that fit such…
    1) the day Australia ceased being classed as British property and became Australians…
    2) the day aboriginal people were recognised as citizens of Australia
    3) the day Neville Bonner became the first aboriginal too parliament
    *************************
Personally I feel that (3) is the most acceptable for obvious reasons…
On 11 June 1971, Neville Thomas Bonner (1922-1999) was chosen by the Queensland Parliament to fill a vacancy in the Senate of the federal parliament…
Can we get over the us and them mentality and start focusing on being ONE GREAT NATION …

I love to celebrate Australia Day but not on the 26th of Januray! On 26 January, it marks the 1788 landing of the First Fleet and the raising of the Union Flag by Arthur Phillip at Sydney Cove in New South Wales. It marked the beginning of colonization and Europeans flooding into Australia! Not all colonies end up free and democratic! No doubt 26 January 1788 was an important day changing this continent! However, it was 1 January 1901 when six British colonies-New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, and Tasmania-united to form the Commonwealth of Australia and established the foundation of a nation. it makes more sense for Australians to celebrate Australia becoming a nation on Australia Day!
Are we Australian or British? If Australia is still a British Colony, it makes sense to celebrate on the 26th of January! But Australia is a nation now! Many traditions existed in the past like women couldn't vote, slavery, etc. However, these have been changed! When some traditions are outdated, they have to be modified and changed!
This has nothing to do with the Labour Party or woke or Indigenous affairs! This is to make sense of our Australia Day! Doesn't it make more sense for Australians to celebrate Australia becoming a nation on Australia Day, rather than celebrating GB started colonizing this continent? Not all colonies end up free, democratic, and became a nation!
