Great video you got there. By the way as an avid outdoorsman going camping fishing hiking etc, the axe/hatchet is going to be my go to tool along with a knife when I run out of ammunition in a time of crisis as well as being an army veteran
Thank you. Some farming tools can be adapted for any situation. Even though its main purpose is not for warfare combat situations, it's still something you can use when going gets rough. If the tool works, use it. As the saying goes, don't limit yourself to tools you don't have, make use with what you got.
We've heard the same thing from other Guro's and GM's. You gotta have fun and not be serious all the time. When we interviewed GM Bruce Chiu, he said that the late Professor Remy Presas said, "if the people at the seminar are not smiling and laughing, it's not good." There has to be a tension breaker if you're training seriously sometimes.
Thank you FMAP. I think we can adapt some of this to work with an escrima stick. Love the channel. All the best to you. Laoshr #60 Ching Yi Kung Fu Association
I'm proud of my bit of Yankee blood I'm a Aussie I have done Jeet kune do and Kali and silat with progressive martial arts Melbourne the tomahawk is a excellent weapon combined with the Bowie style knife like in the patriot movie with Mel Gibson
Again it's just a drill. Depending on your intention, cutting the hand can be a warning if it comes down to it. All the other cuts including the final artery slash means, "you leave me no choice, you can't be reasoned with, you won't stop attacking (w/a weapon)."
This is terrifying😱 Now I see why you have video'd him at night... I've seen tiny axes which can be used at close quarters. A bit like the Kubotan but I guess more versatile😉
We've heard stories in the Philippines that attacks will most likely happen at night when you're least expecting it. Back then they would use the short or medium length blades and then ambush you when you aren't paying attention. But the small axe or tomahawk is versatile because it doubles as both a blunt and edge weapon at the same time.
Honest question, I do not think I can block by hand a full on attack by an axe. I would rather counter first with my axe and try to aim the attacking hand. Is this right? Or should I practice getting close and try to block by hand?
We would recommend practicing both. You never know which range the altercation will happen. From a far you can see what the person is going to do. As you get closer, you have to react quicker at a moments notice.

Glad to see your sense of humor shine through your instruction, “better axe somebody.” 😅 keep going young Guro.

Worrying about the DNA in the last Slash, OK, the ten other slices before are surely not hitting any artery. Sure. But the Tomahawk concept is nice

@@FMAPulse Thank you for your explanations🙏
Where do you get those trainers with the longer handle? Is it only wood or does it come in aluminum also?
Yes.
I'm sure you can find them online, but prices can vary based on where they're coming from. That's a good question for Guro Francis to answer.
That's some scary stuff 🔪
