Dave showcasing his powerful killer voice as usual. 💯👏 I'm really liking the guitar player standing in for Sullivan. His guitar tone is great! It's a good song and probably among the better songs on the Too Hot to Sleep album. This version is bit more heavier compared to the original. 😊 Yes, it sounds 80s because it's from 1988. But I'm a Survivor fan of the 78-83 period.

I agree Jakey. I'm a fan of the Dave era of Survivor only. Jimi Jameson was not my cup of tea.🫖☕.
By the way, this video of him doing She's A Star is one of my favorites of Dave. I just love his performance in this one. 🔥🔥🕺🕺🕺🕺.

The power and the projection in that voice. Dave is an amazing singer. Jimi jamison actually had pitching problems in the 1985 nagoya concert. Play the piano against Jimi jamison's voice in that concert and a few times he was totally off key. I'm going to defend Jimi too as he was also clearly tired and fatigued doing many shows one after another. Even many great singers around the world do sometimes have occasional pitching problems, they're still human though.

This is Dave Bickler in the video who sang this perfectly. 😊 Yes, Jamison in that 85 and 86 concert in Japan evidently struggled at times with Dave's songs and even on his Burning Heart performance in 86. A song written around his voice. Dave is a true tenor and Jimi was a natural baritone who had worked hard to get a high baritone range though it was at times taxing on his vocal chords during long sets hence the pitching problems at those live shows. I've only heard Dave live in the 78 to 80 concerts during when he played the keyboard and sang at the same time. His pitch and soulful singing was phenonenal. 💯👏

Almost forgot! I heard Dave live in the 82 concert at Wheeling here on RUclips. This gig was towards the end of a very long heavy tour. He sang so crazy good! I was blown away by his live version of Hesitation Dance. A song that is pretty much belted often at the high end of the 4th octave and D5s. He had an amazing stamina to sing that.

So it seems the holiday stuff is over at the Bickler house. ( not sure what there is to celebrate at this point) but whatever. Dave is back at the spa apparently with Apology To Elephants under construction. I guess that means I'm gonna direct message him this week and find out what we all want to know! I should have taken his hint before Christmas but I'm going to do it now. If there's anything available from going the distance I'm going to find out. I'll let you guys know if i find out anything...over and out!!

Wow, they sound so 80's... These must've been tough times for that band, when grunge had laid to waste everything about the 80's. Jamison was an amazing singer though.

With the exception of great bands like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains whose music was influenced by 70s classic rock and psychedelic prog rock, grunge bands were musically simple, often unmelodic, and lacked proficiency in guitar playing. A forgettable fad in the history of music in my humble opinion. Survivor had two sounds - more hard rock during the Bickler era and more commercial pop rock during Jamison era, though some of the album tracks during the Jamison period were a wee bit more rockier. Sullivan was proficienct in memorable riffs. By the way, this is Dave Bickler, the original singer in the video. 😊
