I’ve made “gates” in my enclosure using the kind of clips that are on key rings. I think they like the bare floor because it’s cooler and with all that fur, they like it cooler. Amazon has got a 20 cube one that is the least expensive per square. I skip the connectors and just use the wire ties, then I can make different configurations, use them for the “hinges” on the gate. Agree that these cubes are great enclosure material! Cute bunny! Question: does your bun chew on the floor mats? Thanks for sharing this.
Welcome yes I’ve updated too put more grass/hay in mire locations made a door and put a blanket down over the mats and bought heavier food and water dishes. He has chewed once then randomly stopped but it was mostly to make a spot to be on the bare floor. I would of changed it if he was still biting through the mats so he doesn’t get a tummy ache/GI stasis or worse. I’m glad you were able to make it into your own. I get a lot of comments on what I should do with my bunny but honestly I know my bunny and this video was just to show a cheaper way to build a larger cage instead of those store bought jail cells. Thanks for the answer about the mats. I suppose the chewing would depend on the bunny. I never would have thought of them but it’s an interesting idea. Wood floors don’t give them much traction if they want to run and this could be an option. I’ve been using large sheets of cardboard with a cotton floor pad over it. I’m not much of a seamstress but I took some old cotton sheets and sewed three or four layers together. She still loves sleeping and lying on the bare floor, like yours, but likes moving around on the padded areas. I love this sharing of ideas because it gives us a place to start and then we can personalize it. I love the wire cubes because they are so versatile. Thank you for sharing your updates. I’m a new bunny mom and so I’m in the very early stages of figuring things out. My bunny is a sweet girl and she also started digging and chewing on the sofa, my shoes and slippers - while I was wearing them! I was in a tizzy trying to figure out how to control this. I gave her chew toys but she ignored them. Then I made a digging box, put shredded cardboard, wads of paper, fabric, stuff like that in it. She loves it! She digs in it, chews stuff, pushes it around, spends a lot of waking time in it, and she no longer chews on the sofa. It cost me nothing. BTW, I would not dare to tell you what to do with your sweet bunny because every one of us has different situations. But I do enjoy sharing the various ways people provide for their needs because it gives us ideas that we then can adapt to our own. This was the first of your videos that I found. Randomly Kay I’m planning to adopt soon, within a week or so but having trouble deciding between Holland or Mini Lop or Lionhead. I definitely want a boy. Do you have any thoughts about these breeds and is your boy neutered? I have been advised to neuter only if I experience aggression issues.
So my bunny is a Dutch dwarf and he is not fixed but I would recommend it because my bunny likes to mark his territory on everything which is annoying and he humps everything and doesn’t play well with other bunnies. A lot of people really like lion heads but they have a lot of extra fur so you have to brush them a bit more. So I would go with a holland tbh they are super cute!
Randomly Kay Smokey is the absolute cutest. Unfortunately there aren’t any Dutch dwarfs available in my area. Holland’s are super cute too but have history of dental disease that can hopefully be avoided with proper diet and Lionheads require a lot of grooming. I’ll probably go with the Holland. I’m not sure why he doesn’t jump out but most of the day my bunny is out his cage he is only in the cage at night while I’m at work. Maybe give your bunny more time out the cage. Or you can use some tiles to make a ceiling just tightly zip tie them or you can try putting a blanket on top. Hopefully one of these help.
Hi can i ask how tall ur enclosure is? I have a 61cm enclosure and my bunny keeps jumping out of it 😭😭. Apparently they need to have enclosures at least 1 metre tall so im trying to look for some
I’m not quite sure how tall mine is but I do know when my friend brought her dog in for some water one day my bunny freaked out and jumped all the way out and at this time it was 3 grids up. Thankfully, My bunny doesn’t try to get out. You could put a blanket on top or do the grids on top as well. That might work.

So as long as you have the zip ties tight it’s hard to really budge. Yes as you can see in the video my bunny loves to push things too lol. Then you can put a blanket down (a bunny proof) to hide the foam if he is a chewer and then to really secure them the connector pieces except where you want the door piece (just zip ties) I hope it works out for you. 💜
i reccomend more hay in the ltter box and theres like if its a tint bunny alfa hay and if its normal size timothy hay also in the walmart theres pretty big hay batches not hat exwpesinve
How would u keep a rabbit away from a cat because my sister has a cat but she is koving out and leaving her cat till she can get a house that is her own but my cat gets along with some rabbits but im just worried of what will happen if i leave them alone together
For that you may have to get a real cage unfortunately because the cat can shove their paws through or try to jump over the cage to get inside it or put your bunny in a space where you can close the door so the cat can’t get in
I did this with my rabbit and that little creature would shake it and make it fall or once he realized he could actually jump. He'd hop over it lol. then I just got him a xl dog cage and it was big and sturdy enough for him to play around and not break or fall on him. He absolutely loved it. But now that I'm finally getting another bunny (my old baby passed) I want to combine them both some way
So I try to change my bunnies cage every 2-3 days which is hard cause I work 12 hours over night so I’m like a zombie but also there are certain litters that help with smell. I will comment the one I use once I get home from this awful 12 hour day at noon 🕛 but my bunny is super loud (he likes to thump at me until I rub him in or outside his cage) so my office is actually in my room.
I have some questions I live in Michigan so the winters get pretty cold and I have 5 rabbits they are in our garage which we have cleaned and me and my dad built them each their own cages since they are all male's and they fight. I'm concerned because I had a lop rabbit who died at only 2 and a half years old and I'm worried about the others. I'm looking into moving them inside once we get the carpet in our basement installed (there is a window). What cages do you think we could use for the five of them that will take up the least space without being too expensive? I was thinking about dog playpens and making walls so they can't bite each other. I'm just seeing if there is any better options for them.
I’m sorry not sure about this one because I had two boy bunnies and made them two cages and they somehow got out and started fighting. I would def help you do some research to see what could be the best for them. 💜
@@RandomlyKay I checked with the vet and they said I should be worried about flystrike so they are definitely going to be moved inside. At this point I just want them to be safe and healthy so we are going to go with the dog pens for each of them and also try some litter training.
@@GarnetsWeb It was a pretty big project but we got the pens off of amazon which have doors on them. what we did is we made almost like a frame out of wood it looks kinda like two coffee tables stacked on top of each other (which we painted grey) and that way we could use the pens as a fence for each "box". it was a little dark in their cages so we put in some led lights. We made two of those and i have a regular pen in my bedroom for a senior rabbit i have. As for keeping it clean, I switched all the rabbits onto polar fleece and they each have a litter box which they are doing really well with. I change the litter boxes every day (i clean the bottom of my parrot cages daily so this wasn't a stretch) and it does not smell much. Basically we created a way to stack the dog pens on top of each other to save space. I hope this sparks some ideas for you!
You can get as many I bought two boxes and you can do a partition however when I had a second bunny they broke through. It was two boy bunnies I don’t recommend if it’s the same situation

The doe is pregnant and in order to keep them separate I have tried various methods ( keeping this in two different cages , keeping one in a cage and another free but nearby the cage ) but they don't seem to be happy hence I am contemplating to try to keep them in a pen with partition . I'll have to order the pen ( exactly like yours) from Amazon which is providing me with only two options , either 12 or 24 panels , hence I am confused which one should I choose to make a divider pen.

Im planning on adopting 1 or 2 rabbits. Was thinking of making the same kind of setup you made in this video, roughly 1.7m x 0.6m. Would such a pen be enough as an indoors enclosure? Of course adding some hide places for them so they can hide with a roof above their head
I would say yes because it’s good to give them a friend so they aren’t lonely or get depressed. I spend a lot of time with my bunny so he isn’t sad. But it’s enough room for two to run around def! I hope you enjoy them!

Thank you! And trust is hard but what I did was I went and just kind of sat down in his area and let him come sniff me and observe me to let him get comfortable with me and know I’m not a threat. Like didn’t rub him or anything just let him sniff n jump over me n stand on me lol. Also if he/she is new I notice my bunny has to get use to the new place it’s a bit stressful for a new environment or a bigger environment. Hope that helps 💜
Hey guys I have a problem...... so I have 2 bunnies that are 2 months old , I got them 3 days ago and I heard that if you handd fees your bunny they will bond to you so anyway to the point, when they came I took very very small banana and put them on my hand so they can eat , ok so now one of the rabbit thinks my hand is a treat and whenever I go near him he starts climbing on the playpen fence trying to bite me , I'm so scared to even pet them I can't even change their hay or litter box I'm so scared what should I do to teach him my hand is not treat?? Please help me!
Oh no I’m sorry to hear that. I’ve never had that problem before my bunny will eat out my hand without a problem. Maybe you can retrain the one bun by putting the treats in the dish or on the floor so while they are eating you can change there hay and box. And when they are laying down you can try to pet them so they know you aren’t a piece of food. When they come running just put the snack down and not in your hand. Try this and see how it works.
Also you can get thick gloves and try to pet and feed them until they get use to knowing you are not food because that could be scary knowing one wants to harm you. Hope one of these ideas help!
iqueen_x I bought 2 boxes because originally I had two bunnies for a month but they were two boys and didn’t get along so I built my first bunny a huge one.
Mine doesn’t attempt but he is an adult and used to it. I recommend the zip ties and to put blankets down if you have a bunny that likes to chew through the flooring 💜

Getting your rabbit spayed or neutered will definitely help as well. I own a rabbit rescue and it's amazing to see how great they are with their litter box after they've been fixed.
Usually comes with 23 panels and 24 connectors. And I purchased 2 boxes I got mine from bed bath and beyond not sure if they still have them but they were about I think 20 or 21 bucks per box. Hope this helps 💜
I had a huge space in this video so I definitely understand. Now that I have moved I have less space. Have you thought about building upwards? I should have a video out in the next month or so of a new cage idea 💡
He isn’t fixed yet so he cannot be with others and I spend a lot of time with him. And outside the cage he is only in the cage while I’m at work or if I’m sleeping.

Hey, when he was a baby and would poop I would put the poop into the litter box and when he would pee somewhere I would spray with a vinegar water mixture. It took a week but once they are older it’s hard to try to train them, but he does still sometimes poop out the box he isn’t perfect 💜

Nice! Yea I’ve added a bunch of cat balls and cat toys and paper rolls so he can throw them haha he loves it.
I'm getting two bunnies next week. Will be free-roaming them, is it okay to leave them most of the day inside the cage?
They have really strong back legs and need to exercise but having a big cage helps
Yeah it’s okay to leave them all day when your not home, but even with this big of a cage I recommend taking them out every day

My rabbit likes to throw and flip her food bowl over all the time. So the technique you used to hold the bowl down was smart. I will try it.
Or ceramic you can make it super heavy for them. My bunny likes to do the same so i get it lol gotta get creative 🤪

I’m not quite sure how tall mine is but I do know when my friend brought her dog in for some water one day my bunny freaked out and jumped all the way out and at this time it was 3 grids up. Thankfully, My bunny doesn’t try to get out. You could put a blanket on top or do the grids on top as well. That might work.

So as long as you have the zip ties tight it’s hard to really budge. Yes as you can see in the video my bunny loves to push things too lol. Then you can put a blanket down (a bunny proof) to hide the foam if he is a chewer and then to really secure them the connector pieces except where you want the door piece (just zip ties) I hope it works out for you. 💜

i reccomend more hay in the ltter box and theres like if its a tint bunny alfa hay and if its normal size timothy hay also in the walmart theres pretty big hay batches not hat exwpesinve

The pee will go through the mat onto the floor if not potty trained I don’t recommend.

How would u keep a rabbit away from a cat because my sister has a cat but she is koving out and leaving her cat till she can get a house that is her own but my cat gets along with some rabbits but im just worried of what will happen if i leave them alone together
For that you may have to get a real cage unfortunately because the cat can shove their paws through or try to jump over the cage to get inside it or put your bunny in a space where you can close the door so the cat can’t get in
I did this with my rabbit and that little creature would shake it and make it fall or once he realized he could actually jump. He'd hop over it lol. then I just got him a xl dog cage and it was big and sturdy enough for him to play around and not break or fall on him. He absolutely loved it. But now that I'm finally getting another bunny (my old baby passed) I want to combine them both some way

I wanted to put my cage in my office, but was worried of the smell... how is it for you, I see you have yours near your office as well...
So I try to change my bunnies cage every 2-3 days which is hard cause I work 12 hours over night so I’m like a zombie but also there are certain litters that help with smell. I will comment the one I use once I get home from this awful 12 hour day at noon 🕛 but my bunny is super loud (he likes to thump at me until I rub him in or outside his cage) so my office is actually in my room.
I have some questions I live in Michigan so the winters get pretty cold and I have 5 rabbits they are in our garage which we have cleaned and me and my dad built them each their own cages since they are all male's and they fight. I'm concerned because I had a lop rabbit who died at only 2 and a half years old and I'm worried about the others. I'm looking into moving them inside once we get the carpet in our basement installed (there is a window). What cages do you think we could use for the five of them that will take up the least space without being too expensive? I was thinking about dog playpens and making walls so they can't bite each other. I'm just seeing if there is any better options for them.
The bunnies do go inside to run around and when it is too cold or too hot we put them in their carriers inside.
I’m sorry not sure about this one because I had two boy bunnies and made them two cages and they somehow got out and started fighting. I would def help you do some research to see what could be the best for them. 💜
@@RandomlyKay I checked with the vet and they said I should be worried about flystrike so they are definitely going to be moved inside. At this point I just want them to be safe and healthy so we are going to go with the dog pens for each of them and also try some litter training.

@@GarnetsWeb It was a pretty big project but we got the pens off of amazon which have doors on them. what we did is we made almost like a frame out of wood it looks kinda like two coffee tables stacked on top of each other (which we painted grey) and that way we could use the pens as a fence for each "box". it was a little dark in their cages so we put in some led lights. We made two of those and i have a regular pen in my bedroom for a senior rabbit i have. As for keeping it clean, I switched all the rabbits onto polar fleece and they each have a litter box which they are doing really well with. I change the litter boxes every day (i clean the bottom of my parrot cages daily so this wasn't a stretch) and it does not smell much. Basically we created a way to stack the dog pens on top of each other to save space. I hope this sparks some ideas for you!

You can get as many I bought two boxes and you can do a partition however when I had a second bunny they broke through. It was two boy bunnies I don’t recommend if it’s the same situation

The doe is pregnant and in order to keep them separate I have tried various methods ( keeping this in two different cages , keeping one in a cage and another free but nearby the cage ) but they don't seem to be happy hence I am contemplating to try to keep them in a pen with partition .
I'll have to order the pen ( exactly like yours) from Amazon which is providing me with only two options , either 12 or 24 panels , hence I am confused which one should I choose to make a divider pen.

I would say yes because it’s good to give them a friend so they aren’t lonely or get depressed. I spend a lot of time with my bunny so he isn’t sad. But it’s enough room for two to run around def! I hope you enjoy them!

You can make a door by instead of putting the connector on just put zip ties on the sides and it works as a door.

Thank you! And trust is hard but what I did was I went and just kind of sat down in his area and let him come sniff me and observe me to let him get comfortable with me and know I’m not a threat. Like didn’t rub him or anything just let him sniff n jump over me n stand on me lol. Also if he/she is new I notice my bunny has to get use to the new place it’s a bit stressful for a new environment or a bigger environment. Hope that helps 💜

Hey guys I have a problem...... so I have 2 bunnies that are 2 months old , I got them 3 days ago and I heard that if you handd fees your bunny they will bond to you so anyway to the point, when they came I took very very small banana and put them on my hand so they can eat , ok so now one of the rabbit thinks my hand is a treat and whenever I go near him he starts climbing on the playpen fence trying to bite me , I'm so scared to even pet them I can't even change their hay or litter box I'm so scared what should I do to teach him my hand is not treat?? Please help me!
Oh no I’m sorry to hear that. I’ve never had that problem before my bunny will eat out my hand without a problem. Maybe you can retrain the one bun by putting the treats in the dish or on the floor so while they are eating you can change there hay and box. And when they are laying down you can try to pet them so they know you aren’t a piece of food. When they come running just put the snack down and not in your hand. Try this and see how it works.
Also you can get thick gloves and try to pet and feed them until they get use to knowing you are not food because that could be scary knowing one wants to harm you. Hope one of these ideas help!

Mine doesn’t attempt but he is an adult and used to it. I recommend the zip ties and to put blankets down if you have a bunny that likes to chew through the flooring 💜

Yes, My bunny has done it one time before because my friends dog ran into the house and it scared him.

My bunny is litter trained He may poop outside of his litter box but he doesn’t pee anywhere but in the box. You may have to train him/her first.
Getting your rabbit spayed or neutered will definitely help as well. I own a rabbit rescue and it's amazing to see how great they are with their litter box after they've been fixed.

Usually comes with 23 panels and 24 connectors. And I purchased 2 boxes I got mine from bed bath and beyond not sure if they still have them but they were about I think 20 or 21 bucks per box. Hope this helps 💜

you should not let your bunny alone! Bunnys need to be in groups
He isn’t fixed yet so he cannot be with others and I spend a lot of time with him. And outside the cage he is only in the cage while I’m at work or if I’m sleeping.

Hey, when he was a baby and would poop I would put the poop into the litter box and when he would pee somewhere I would spray with a vinegar water mixture. It took a week but once they are older it’s hard to try to train them, but he does still sometimes poop out the box he isn’t perfect 💜
