@@mloxard It depends on what you're looking for! I think there's value in playing both, as each one has exclusive content to them and its own special twist on the formula. There might be some sense in playing through the first 3 chapters of the book just to experience the rule discovery bit before switching to the video game to go through the rest. Besides the rule discovery difference, the main mechanical differences are in the post-game content. The book has a free PDF and the videogame has the free demo, so you could sample each of them and see which one intrigues you more :)
Since you're here and have responded to questions, what new content is in the digital version vs. the book? Since I played through the book a few months ago and loved it, but am wondering what the digital version adds, as I haven't found information on that.
I'm so sorry for making you wait 2 years Icely. I hope it lives up to your expectations. I love how you always sound like you despise the game, thank god I know, now that you're playing mine. I'm dying to see you react to lategame stuff! Chess battle advanced :)

@@IcelyPuzzles Hahah I know! I watch most of your vids, I enjoy how much of a competitive tryhard puzzle beast you are. Thanks a ton for covering the game!
this digital implementation is neat but the main point of the book was the rules discovery via "all levels can be solved" and "this specific level can't be solved, figure out why :^)"
(Dev here) Yeah, that was the main worry. We tried to both keep as much of that spirit as we could, and also add the nice feedback, juice, animations, and digital-only mechanics to compensate. The book is still there, and this format is a lot more approachable for non-puzzley-people.
36:50 looking at the puzzle, my assumption is gap are ignored for adjacency, so the solution would be LOK starting at the top L, remove the other L, then spell TA to eliminate the Xs
if i had a niCkel every time Icely Puzzles made a video aBout A word puzzle game, i would have way too many to count, which is unfortunate because i need nickels!!!!!!!!
(with knowledge of some of the game's new mechanics that aren't in the book) there's a lot of cool new worlds, and there are at least three book-moments that are ported really 'gracefully', but yeah there is something to be said about how unfortunately the experience of learning TA and BE might be missed. the game is overall better to play i think, because ... well it's interactive haha, it's just a few moments are a bit less good I suppose. I would love to see if they could ever port the "think about what this word could do" somehow though
I swear to god I have major deja vu vibes with this video, are you sure this isn't a reupload or something? Or did you make a video about a demo or something?
sadly I wont watch this video coz I wanna play the game myself. But to anyone who knows. are there any differences between the digital and phisical release of lok? I wanna buy the book if the digital version is too different.
@@BryanLu0 I mean yea, but like from what I've seen the book has like big ass art pages that are secretly puzzles (or at least I think they are). And I assume there are other cool secrets like that.
