Cort Smith, CEO of AsianProSource, discusses how these molds will cost you and give you tips on how you should effectively do it.
The molds in China vary from what we can say crude and rudimentary level to high-tech laser cut. The quality of steel that is used varied greatly as well. If you have Swiss steel which could be $50k a mold down to a crude steel which would be about $3k a mold, what the polish requirements of the finish surface inside the mold is. All would be of different mold cost.
Generally speaking for high end luxury products you're looking at cosmetics, they're going to be very high polished, their plastic, they're going to have very very tight tolerances. The pieces are going to match up exactly - this is going to be a more expensive mold. When something is mass produced for children's toys and not so concerned about the pieces that just don't fit perfect, they can use low-end molding.
Another consideration of the of the molds you used would involve the number of pieces you expect to press with that mold. So some molds might be good for 500,000 impressions, other molds might be good for a million impressions. Cheaper molds would only be good for 50k to a 100k impressions. The hardness the steel used and the quality of cuts made and the level of polished contributed to the mold will determine the cost of mold.

Why do all these videos say costs, then don't give any cost. Just give some examples and show what they cost, it's not that hard. I did not find it helpful.
He said it ranges 50k for expensive complex moulds to 3k for simplistic pieces.

@@bikepacker9850 Usually the amount of parts. One product may be multiple moulds. Then you are adding cost. Lets say you are designing a computer chair. Your design may have a few parts that are unique, so you will need to create moulds to make the parts. Each one of those moulds may be a range from $500 for the cheapest smallest parts to $3k each.
@@jarrodlangford7692 they were talking about 1 part. so a complex mold design for that 1 part. I agree these videos are just ads, they aren't actually to help anyone.
