HOW TO replace the EUFY Robovac side brush motor gears | Repair kit from eBay | Teardown & Fit

  • EDIT: People have been asking me for the link to these. The ones I bought are no longer for sale from that seller, but I would suggest doing an eBay search for "eufy sidebrush gear" and you'll see the current ones available. 👍
    In this video, I'm going to show you how easy it is to replace the gears in a Eufy Robovac side brush motor. This is useful for when your Robovac makes a clicking or ratcheting noise during operation.
    You will need a Philips head screwdriver to take the Robovac apart and a toothpick (or cotton bud/q-tip) to apply the supplied grease.
    This kit is suitable for the Robovac 11, 11C, 11S, 15C and 30C.
    I found this very simple, but if you have any questions or comments, please detail them down below!
    Thanks for watching!

    Very nicely made video. Clear, organized and accurate. I used a weekly pill organizer to temporarily save the 7 distinct screw types used to assemble this portion of my EUFY 11S, and a rare earth magnet stuck on my screwdriver to help extract the screws embedded deep in the plastic body parts.

    • @StezStixFix
      @StezStixFix  3 года назад

      Thanks Timothy. That's a very good call with the magnet! And always good practice to keep the screws organised. Really appreciate the feedback and kind words. Thank you. 👍

      Quick pointer. You can magnetise your screwdrivers by stroking a magnet along its length. The more you do this the more powerful the magnetism.

    I have a very cheap cleaner named "ONSON" and it looks 100% like this one. I think I paid €120 for it and it still makes a good job. It seems to be a really good Robovac clone! Can't wait to have a reason to take it apart so I can have an even closer look.
    It only has some trouble with the main brush slot... or socket or whatever you wanna call it. The brush has too much space in the "passive" side of the socket that is not directly driven. It also makes a terrible noise but I just wrapped it in some aluminum foil on the end of the shaft and it works like a charm (it grinds away some aluminum... meh)

    So the tutorial is spot on, even got mine back together and it worked but...... finding a quality replacement may be the biggest problem. Got mine off an Ebay site everything fit right but by day 2 all the teeth had stripped out. Honestly it worked better when the left side turned 25% of the time now the left side is dead. I think the eufy would be fine for hardwood floors only. They replaced the left side once and so did I so have to believe its a design flaw. Buyer beware....

    • @StezStixFix
      @StezStixFix  3 года назад

      Hi Scott. Yeah, it does seem to be quite common, and I'm sure there are people out there that are just 3D printing these cogs and selling them on eBay. In which case, they are not gonna last.

    Suggestion - please edit your video and add a step removing the battery from the vaccuum. Even with the power switch on the bottom turned off and unplugging the power button on the cover, there is still power going to the circuit board. In the step to remove the 3 screws to move the circuit board slightly, one of the silver screws landed on the circuit board, sparked and created an electro-magnetic charge holding the screw to the two contacts shorting. Pulled it off quickly, and removed the battery for the rest of the steps, but after replacing the side brush gears and reassembling, my vaccuum just beeps constantly as soon as the main power switch on the bottom of the vaccum is turned on. Most of us DYI's that have had ours long enough to replace the gears are already familar with how easy and quick it is to remove the battery when doing this repair. Time for a new robo-vac.

      It can be tricky. Look out for the 2 metal springs on the main body, and make sure they don't foul on the wrong bit of the bumper. They can get stuck and it makes life difficult...

    The gear on the motor shaft is far more stronger than the other two. Deliberately done by the company, so it can fail. Planned obsolescence.

    This is great, but you cut out the hardest part; putting the top back on and making it line up. For the life of me, I cannot get this figured out and every video I've watched does the same thing - cut the video putting the top back on.

    • @StezStixFix
      @StezStixFix  2 года назад

      Thanks Yanksguy, sorry about that, it really wasn't deliberate. If I remember rightly, the most important part of that is to get the springs aligned at the front - if they slip under the bumper, then it can be difficult to get it back on. I'd suggest taking your time and trying to align everything up. Once you have the knack, it's usually pretty straightforward. I hope you manage it! Good luck 👍

      @@StezStixFix Sorry mate. If the 2 springs are pushed in the bumper doesn't spring back. It almost seems as though the tabs are supposed to go together on the top but then it is also to tight. I have been trying for 90 minutes now. There is something missing when you are describing disassembly. Wish I had another go at it when taking it apart. I would definitely pay more attention to how it was together. Now I am out the cost of 2 sets of gears. Love the vacuum so much I am trying a second. Nice video but again it definitely needs more.
