This East German map from 1988 has a great gaping hole where West Berlin should be. Mark and Jay discover that this map with a gap is not "wrong", and it's certainly not unique.

Mark can draw a wizard, but not a rough map of Great Britain.
Google wanted me to change my username so I changed it to a description of why I changed my username Brits have roughly drawing their country easy. Try being a Canadian, all those islands up north make it pretty hard haha.
Google wanted me to change my username so I changed it to a description of why I changed my username yes
I don't even
I saw him draw a good oxbow lake once if that helps?
@@AnArchyRulzz Drawing a map of the UK is much harder than drawing a map of Canada, because you need to draw the British Virgin islands, the falklands, the antarctic claims, St. Helena, Gibraltar, the Indian ocean territory, part of Cyrpus etc. and you need to draw them all the correct distance apart. Also, the UK has the southernmost point in the world that is not an antarctic claim, since all of those converge at the geographic south pole.

Or a Matrix-like reproduction of it.

@@Fede_uyz i guess you're not very good at reading your map :D
@@dumchican Here's a better example... A place will never contain the information necessary to determine what to fill on a map showing the alcohol consumption of a city as a density map with darker areas indicating greater consumption.
Therefore; only a black map could contain all information.
"I've drawn a wizard" never gets old, even when I know it's coming 😂 you can tell they cut the video as fast as possible because they were holding back laughter
And also in the squarest country song:
Bangladesh looks like a wizard
You think everything looks like a wizard
Actually, I think it's because their outro song was copyrighted months after they found it online labeled as "free" since it was probably firstly actually free, but it was actually a trap set by greedy corporations with the intention to copyright the song 6-10 months after they released it so suck off of other peoples revenue.
it also calls back to "Never draw on a map!"
THE INTRO HAD 3 “MEN” INSTEAD OF 2
ARE YOU TRYING TO TELL US THAT YOU’RE BEING HELD HOSTAGE??
Its different every episode i think
Sing "map" and "men" an equal number of times if you are being held against your wishes.

The one thing you wouldn't see in West Berlin before 1990, no matter whether you were from East or West Germany, were Lufthansa planes at the airports.
German airlines were not allowed to fly to Berlin (which is one of the reasons why East Berlin's airport was built outside the actual city).

actually this offended me. if you want to draw a political map of a country there are always white parts. west berlin was an exclave of brd, so on maps of western Germany the gdr wasnt drawn.
its the same reason, why you don't draw canada or Mexico on a map of the USA, even if parts of it would be visible.

Please tell the director that having Mark subtly re-join Jay after having "been in Berlin" so as to re-situate Mark's position in the viewer's mind is an invisible tour de force of direction. 👏

You are absolutely correct and you've got a great eye -- I didn't catch it, even though I saw it. Terrific storycraft.

"I won't let the cartographers in"
Technically it is correct in the same way a map of one country often doesn’t include other countries, a map of East Germany wouldn’t include West Germany, which was a totally different country
Technically, legally, West Berlin wasn't a part of the Federal Republic of Germany. It was its own city-state where most (but not all) BRD laws applied.
For an example, citizens of West Berlin were not subject to conscription, which meant that many young people who didn't want to join the military moved there, contributing to the city's countercultural movements in the 60s and 70s
The Germans did not in fact "erase any trace of the Berlin Wall", quite the opposite. There are whole parts of it still standing, there's pieces relocated and placed in all sorts of places around the city (even inside the Mall of Berlin) and where there is no wall, a line of double bricks on the pavement traces the line on which the wall stood.
thx, was gonna write this
I know this is an old comment, but they were referring specifically to maps of Berlin

This show is the funniest educational program I've ever seen and I'm so glad you're making it again.
You said "Men" 3 times in the start instead of 2!
It's because they've stopped making videos for the love of maps and started doing it for the money, saying "men" an extra time just to make a quick buck.
It's sad, really.
Because they're selling out. They're being funded by Axe to emphasize masculinity.
Maybe I should get better material.
Basically that if my sarcasm is hard to pin as sarcasm then I'm probably not doing it right. Maybe I should move to puns or maybe stop trying to do stand-up in the comments section.
