I’m planning on sending a beat to this smaller artist I know tomorrow when I finish mixing it, if they like it and want to use it how does the money aspect of it work? I can’t really find anything about that online and it’s very confusing to me
I would make it clear that the beat is for sale in order for them to use it for monetary purposes. If it's an artist you plan on building with then I personally would give it for free, since we are building towards a bigger goal. Also, just cuz you sent them the beat doesn't mean that you can't sell the same beat to other artists.

Yeah I’m letting them use it for free, it’ll be weird to tell them they have to pay you after reaching out first & they’ll probably end up not using it

Yeah unless I'm working with them exclusively. Also, I send certain beats that matches the artist style so it improves the chances of them working on it.

No artist don’t ask for midis & they don’t care if you used a loop or not. As long as the beat is 🔥 and easy to rap on, that’s all they care about .

I would just send the full beat, it makes it easier for them if they like the beat right away.

I wouldn't send beats to anyone, only artist who I feel matches my style or I wanted to work with.

So, when sending beats to artists, what format should I go for? .wav, .flp or zip?
Send the mp3 or wav file. Often times if they really like the track they would later ask for the track outs. Just have everything prepared.

No I don't, send the mp3/wav. If they like it then often times they would later ask for the stems
