He is incredibly clear and concise indeed! I also love how he doses his words so slow in small chunks, gives the brain the time it needs to really get it all.
Maybe it's a breeze because it's lacking a lot... - no ADSR for parameters at all - no shape control or custom shapes - no modulating of modulation - no easy global modulation setting - random modulation setting is set in stone and can't be defined for... example, step modulation I love reaper and have been following you and admire you... but we have to admit modulation in reaper is a joke.
What a fantastic video... There’s so much undiscovered Reaper & you’re the Guru... Thanks a lot mate! Now I can’t get her vocals out of my head 😂 Thanks again Kenny 👍🏻
This is an awfully geeky approach to something easily accomplished with a much simpler dynamics sidechain. However, the possibility to dynamically alter other parameters, such as decay time, is really special. Thank you, Kenny, for revealing this well hidden trick.
glad i stuck til the end of the video to learn that you can actually save the parameter modulation... and here i was modulating a panning lfo for my delays each and every time. thank you kenny!
Darn, could've used this about a week ago for my Reaper Mixing Contest submission! Thanks though... I'll definitely be incorporating this into my bag of tricks!
Dude, you are a *lifesaver!!* Every other tutorial about sidechain reverb ducking I could find needed an additional track or bus to slap the reverb on, which makes the mixer far too cluttered for my taste. THIS here is slim, elegant, and functional!
Great stuff. I was watching a (I think) Warren Huart video the other day about using sidechaining to duck specific frequencies in a reverb return, but Reaper's parameter modulation makes setting this up a whole lot easier.
It's very good channel and video! Thanks for your great work! Maybe you can record about delay, or you have video about delay as fx for vocal and back vocals?
He often shows many methods to accomplish similar results. I think the only thing missing in this video, compared to his normal content, is a brief mention of why he thinks you'd use one method over the other.
The main difference here is that this way we can compress inserted reverb on the same track. And also we can modulate another parameters of any effects this way.
Hi Kenny, I really loved your videos but may I ask If I can use this for Live singing? or do you have another video for Live vocal with reverb Thank you so much in advanced. God Bless!
Small question to almighty Kenny! Your signal after the reverb is about minus 6 db. Is it enough headroom? My raw vocals being around minus 18 (as you recommend in other video) - and it doesn't change much after eq and compressor. I find it hard to bring it to the values you arebin this video. Thanks!
Kenny, how would you do this using a bus? I would like to use a bus to trigger a delay and then have that delay fed into a reverb. Could you assist with that? Thanks.
kenny i dont wanna be rude but can you please do a tutorial on Dynamic Delays and Reverbs in a Mix. like the first letter in a word reapets its self while there is reverse reverb in the background
Because this adjusts only the wet mix parameter of the reverb based on the audio level rather than compressing the vocal level which isn't what we're trying to do. The goal isn't to change the level of the vocal, but ride the fader on how much reverb is occurring when. This way the big room sound isn't making the vocal sound mushy when singing while filling the gaps with verb.
@5:48 you mention something that I reported as a bug. Changing attack or release shouldn't affect the strength! It shows a very poor implementation of an otherwise very versatile tool, IMHO.
it's very important, if you like strong reverbs for available spaces popular in some genres.. so the lyrics don't get washed out while the vocalist is singing and still have that dramatic big reverb in vocal rests
Pretty cool trick. It gives the impression of a big reverb, but without making everything all muddy.
And there i was drawing automation lanes to get that dynamic reverb effect lol. Thanks Kenny, all the best.
Same here.. LOL. Reaper is awesome and so is our Kenny!
Kenny, my man, thanks for being so clear and concise on your tutorials. Great job as always.
He is incredibly clear and concise indeed! I also love how he doses his words so slow in small chunks, gives the brain the time it needs to really get it all.
Wow, this was informative and came at the right time for me as a blessing in disguise, thank you
Excellent and incredibly useful, top notch Kenny, as always ! FX parameter modulation in Reaper is really powerful and a breeze to setup.
Maybe it's a breeze because it's lacking a lot...

- no shape control or custom shapes

- random modulation setting is set in stone and can't be defined for... example, step modulation

@@KEI-um1kc you can use your imagination and come up with solutions)
That's way cleaner than using a compressor to duck the verb. Parameter modulation really opens a lot of options. Thanks for the video!
What a fantastic video... There’s so much undiscovered Reaper & you’re the Guru...
Thanks a lot mate!
Now I can’t get her vocals out of my head 😂
Thanks again Kenny 👍🏻
Watched the video last nite, took me 10 minutes this morning to duplicate and understand ... Awesome. Thank you Kenny

The best trick ever. Just wanted to find a quick and easy way to fine tune a ducker for any reverb. This works sooo well, thanks, thanks!
Awesome tutorial for the best DAW available. Thanks! 🙏
glad i stuck til the end of the video to learn that you can actually save the parameter modulation... and here i was modulating a panning lfo for my delays each and every time. thank you kenny!
Damn thanks Kenny.
Doing this today for sure.
Been looking for something like this without automation
Wow.. Thank you once again for sharing your knowledge and wisdom
“Hy, I’am Kenny Gioia, welcome” ... I love this
What a Magical Technique , Thanks Kenny
Thanks Kenny, That was awesome, after the initial setup and save, it’s so easy to access for future recordings
That's just brilliant. Knowledge is power.
Thats great, coming from ableton background didnt know how to do that in reaper. I like dynamic reverbs on almost everything haha
Darn, could've used this about a week ago for my Reaper Mixing Contest submission! Thanks though... I'll definitely be incorporating this into my bag of tricks!
Due,!How dose anybody get into the Mixing contest?

I'm glad I found this channel. Love it!
Gracias por compartir tu conocimiento Kenny. Saludos desde Colombia.
again..... #RepaerCleverness. You are killing it with these videos Kenny!
Long anticipated trick! Thanks Kenny! Reaper is the present.
This is amazing

Fantastic! I've been trying to figure this out, of and on, for years. Thanks, Kenny!
Wow! I didn’t know about the parameter modulation adjustments! Thanks for sharing!
Awsome trick of the trade. Thank you!
Excellent! Thank you Kenny. Just hating that youtube is no longer sending email notifications for new uploads.....a real pain.
Same
Thankyou Kenny 💯
This information was cool. Thanks!
As usual another awesome video !!!!! Thank you so much Kenny !!!!! 😊❤
Love your videos Kenny!!! Thank you for the knowledge.
As always, thanks for this. Your videos are great!
It's very good channel and video! Thanks for your great work!

Didn't even know I could do this, thank you!
Extremely useful, as always. Kenny shall never buy his own beer in my presence.
Really useful, I'll use that on all sorts of things. Cheers Kenny.
thank you so much Kenny!
You are the best
That's awesome. Thanks Kenny!
I have been wanting to do this for a long time but could never figure it out. Thanks!
Love this!
Thanks So much!! I love yours videos !
i love you boiiiii
excellent ! ! ! thank you very much !
thanks, was wondering how to perform something like that for a while
Super thanks... must try this on the send level
Thank you so much for this!!!!!
"Track 1" Acapella - send to "Track 2" with any Reverb 1+2, and send to "Track 2" SC Compression 3+4.
IMHO: More tedious workflow than what is showed in the vid, but hey, thx anyway.

I realy like it!! Thanx!
Awesome stuff! 🙂
Tank im from Indonesia..
Hi Kenny any idea why my baseline value doesn't change the modulated parameter as in 3:50?
All configurations are the same as yours
Wondered how Led Zep got those massive reverbs on the vocal tails, probably this technique and delay maybe (Led Zep 2 album).
I think that similar effect can be achived by compressing the reverb channel with vocal signal as side chain trigger.
or riding the faders
If you're mixing solo accoustic guitar, this is solid gold
Oh, and thanks for this great video!
Great
Hi Kenny, I really loved your videos but may I ask If I can use this for Live singing? or do you have another video for Live vocal with reverb Thank you so much in advanced. God Bless!
Kenny, whats the diferrence in this methode compare to ducking the reverb with a compressor in a bus track?
No different really
Amazing. I’m using this for all sorts. I’m thinking dynamic tremolo effect 🤔
Fiendishly clever
Awesome!
Yay! More Reaper content :)
Small question to almighty Kenny!

Great video.😎
KG RULEZ!
Ooooo ladadada oooo ahaaa
Nice
Uau, muito boa essa dica.
A new toy to play with!
Damn, didn't know this was all built in thus removing the need of setting up sidechain compression.
❤️👍👍👍
Kenny, how would you do this using a bus? I would like to use a bus to trigger a delay and then have that delay fed into a reverb. Could you assist with that? Thanks.
I think i might like this more than using a comp
Ótima dica
If you were using a combination of two reverbs, you’d have to do this separately for each verb, right?
yeah
You could mix the reverbs together and adjust the level on the sum.
good
What does 'direction: centered' do?
What microphone did you use to record this vocal?
can I also use it for delays and other effects?
Kenny, can you give a use case for this -- why would you reach for a dynamic reverb in a mix?
kenny i dont wanna be rude but can you please do a tutorial on Dynamic Delays and Reverbs in a Mix. like the first letter in a word reapets its self while there is reverse reverb in the background
Thanks Kenny
A looooooot
Can you do the same for send volume?
How to do in Fabfilter R
same way, move/click fabfilter pro r knobs then click param and set up.you can also have multiple knobs automated at the same time..
@@kool-movies Yea. Thanks and i got it tried.
Can i request how to mix vocal for recording cover songs
greetings master, how can you create a shimmer type reverb in reaper?
What would the benefits of this be over sidechaining a compressor to the vocal be?

I never saw technic like this in any mixing strategy tips. I dont know when or why we should use this technic. Can anyone give me a hint?

I was thinking maybe can do dynamic delay the same way
he covered that already, i think.
Way too complicated
Compared to what?
