Hey all, hope you enjoy today's video! I have an extended cut available only on Patreon, which goes deeper into the woodworking process and how I decided to build the bike locker cover. If interested in this video and more exclusive content, check the link here, and thanks all for your support! www.patreon.com/simplybychristine
It was so good! Let us know where you got the laptop stand from! It's wooden and looks nice :)
The last few seconds of head tilting with your dog is adorable 🫶🏼
Sitting on the patio with a cup of tea is so refreshing 💞💗
It definitely is! The fresh air in the morning is the best way to wake up (:
It's peaceful. I love the simplicity of it. Plus you can enjoy nature sounds and nice weather (when it's not too hot) 🙂
ur dog is so cinematic ;-; beautiful video !!
Loving how it came out !
I absolutely love all your videos. They are calming to watch after a stressful day. Thank you for sharing!
Aw thank you so much! I hope you have a restful week ahead (:
i love it omg
I love those crates from IKEA! I use two of them stacked on each other to make a nightstand for my bedroom. Thanks for your videos, I love watching them before going to bed as it just calms me down :)
Thank you Amanda! (:
I love these ideas! It looks better already! Enjoy!!
Thank you Judy!
this patio is so cute!!!!
Wow lonely very minimalistic. Love your style
Thank you (:
That top beam of your fence is the perfect spot to put some trailing plants. You might be able to get away with growing plants in the middle beam too, if your wall refracts sunlight throughout the day. It would be nice lush green wall!
Yes I was definitely thinking of doing that! Hoping to get the little garden started first (:
Lovely!🤍
Your dog is so adorable! 😍
I'm pretty sure @girl and the word has everything in store in mind when it comes to designing a patio. She's brilliant with that. hehe
Yes! I was thinking the same thing. She's @Ahnlin now.
Yes Anh is a master at designing spaces! I consider myself a lot more functional and minimal when it comes to design than her, but always love seeing her spaces come to life (:
It looks awesome out there, what a wonderful place to get some fresh air! You could possibly try to add some hanging planters to the side of the wooden slats of the bike container to maximize your garden space. Wallygro’s Eco Planters seem to work good and I think they would work with your space. I also watch Shelbizleee’s videos and I know she uses them so you may be able to go to her channel to get some extra info besides what is on the wallygro website. I’m looking forward to seeing what you grow!
Always enjoy your videos. So peaceful. Lovely patio design. I'm fortunate to have an IKEA near and love their inexpensive items. Glad to see a new hack. Thanks, Christine.
Thank you Desire (:
Looks great, Christine! I love IKEA, they have so much good quality furniture that's functional and easy on the eye. I like to combine it with items bought elsewhere, to avoid making the room like an Ikea showroom. When I did my minimalist apartment makeover recently, I got similar chairs for the balcony. And also the two Stockholm nesting (coffee) table set + rug, both of which I really love 😃.
P.s. sorry, I can't think of any tips on how to get the garden going without destroying the bike locker 🤷♂️.
Thank you Peter! I too love combining IKEA pieces with vintage finds to add a unique look to a space (: And I actually got the suggestion to use corrugated metal roofing material. Will probably be trying that!
@@simplybychristine good luck with that!
Woooow !👏👏👏
That's a great looking Patio set up. Simple, easy to use and very useful. Great video. See you in the next one.
Thank you Andy - yes, simple and clean are always the way to go (:
I've been investigating living walls and I want to try making one when I eventually move to a place with some outside space. I think you could try this in your patio, to make the best out of it - perhaps on the side of the bike locker? Also hanging planters on the fence? Some climbing plants like sweet pea might be nice too. Good luck.
Yes I was definitely considering that! Living walls are super cool (:
Super!
Thank you!
For the bike locker you could build a wooden box to the dimensions of the top of the bike locker, put a sheet of metal in the bottom to preserve the wood, fill it with a lighter colored gravel, and put your container garden boxes on top of the gravel so that the water drainage from the container gardens just goes into the gravel and then evaporates.
My tip would be to be careful with some wood oils, as some are not food safe and can leach into you soil! Some of the best plants we grow here in England are gherkins, tomatoes and potatoes in potato bags (which take up little space!) - we use a summer house to get to our required 20C+ here but where you are will probably be warm enough! I’d advise checking out the Gardener’s World website, which is a very popular gardening television show and magazine here! There’s a great episode from a young girl who shows what she’s growing on her canal boat, which is definitely a small space! Happy growing and thank you for the beautiful videos! God bless from England. 😊
Thank you! And yes, definitely using a food safe oil for the wood (:
It’s a great start but you should really add some greenery! Even one or two simple plants would make such a difference 🌱
Yes working on that!
Gorgeous thank you for inspiring us all. Love from a new youtuber ✨🐎✨✨✨
Thank you (:
sheet metal had me think of a cookie sheet? if it were the right size
If the bike locker is already outside in the elements wouldn't it be fine with water getting on it from the plants? But I think some kind of large metal tray would work depending on the size could use like an oven liner as its aluminum and can be washed and reused.
Just want to be safe! And good thought - planning on putting a sheet of aluminum roofing which is corrugated, and slightly slanting it so the water runs off!
❤❤❤
Oh! That bike locker is exactly what I'm looking for! Do you know what it's called/where I could buy one?
I think you are going to need to line those wood containers with plastic or the will rot. Your patio looks great though. Can’t wait to see what you plant.
Yes I definitely had that in mind. Since it's pretty dry in California, I think we'll be ok without plastic since we don't get too much rain and I also plan on treating the wood. But I'll be keeping an eye on it!
Hi, can share where you got your nice sofa?
♡
you can hang some Macramé on the wall, i think it would be nice!
Just get rid of the bike locker! You can easily store Peter's bike inside, it'd make a nice decoration piece :)
Haha we wish! Peter has a GIANT mountain bike. We've tried storing it inside for a bit, and it just takes up too much space since the tires and handlebars are so big!
My paradise on RUclips 💜💜💜
Aw thank you!
Ciao 🙋🏻♀️ Bella la tua casa.peccato che non ho i titoli in italiano.per il resto il tuo canale è sempre piacevole da vedere!💝💕💕👍👍👍
I was so happy to see this new video!! Have watched all your videos and love tuning in! So I am wondering if you could do some simple vegan recipes? :-) Thank you for all your posts they bring me a lot of peace
Thank you Michele! This is one of my latest cooking videos here: ruclips.net/video/0s2tYGkWasc/видео.html
If you could paint the fence white, it Will definitely make the space look bigger.
Unfortunately we rent the space so we're limited with what we can do with paint. (:
Is this ur own house? So nice🥰
Nope, it's a rental! but thank you (:
I imagined to paint your wooden wall white. But maybe your landlord does not agree?
I thought you moved into a house, and where is your worm farm? I must be behind and need to catch up on your videos.
Sorry about Peter's packages 🙏
😂😂😂
Garden without wooden furnishing would be a better option. Again usage of too much wood is a threat to nature.
Totally get your point - definitely everything in moderation as everything we use and make takes resources from the planet. I would always try to find used or salvaged wood too!
