My carburetor is the YF 938 SA when I took it apart for a rebuild, it had a check ball and the wire top clip, but no weight. Is that a normal thing or did someone loose it previously I’m wondering. The only replacement weight in my rebuild kit had a pointed end like a needle valve. I put it back together like it was, but I still have a terrible fuel leak.

I put a carburetor kit in my Rochester carburetor and it is missing the check ball.

If my check ball weight is missing can I use a second check ball on top of it or cut off a pc of drill bit shaft to set in there to hold me over? I just took my carb apart to rebuilt it with a kit and I need my truck for tomorrow. My father said to put the old ball on top of the new ball and it will help hold I down. I'm not sure on that since it's so light weight.

Mike, I recently rebuilt a YFA. It seemed simple enough. It started up fine after the initial bowl fill up. It ran fine. Now, after a day or so, the owner says it won't start without priming. Once primed, it runs fine and continues to run fine. After sitting overnight he says it's not squirting any gas. Can the bowl leak out? I don't know of anything I did wrong. This is probably the 20th carburetor I've rebuilt. Is another issue going on? I didn't see any cracks. Can it siphon back to the tank?
