Very briefly.....Her mother had had multiple abortions and was too late to abort Diana so she was unwanted at birth. Abused physically and emotionally by her she was abandoned at a bus stop in the middle of winter with a broken collarbone at the age of 3, found and placed in an orphanage. The children at the orphanage were sent to a centre for rehab and treatment and it was there where Diana met her future adoptive mother who was a physiotherapist .....music entered Diana's life as part of her therapy to help her with her stutter.

For those in your audience that don’t know, Diana Ankudinova was only 18 years old when this performance took place during the 2021 season of a Russian vocal competition called the "ShowMaskGoOn!". Diana’s cover of the Elvis Presley classic "Can't Help Falling In Love", shows Diana Ankudinova has developed into what many vocal professionals are calling a true contralto voice! For those that don’t know female voice types, a contralto is the lowest kind of female voice, and a true contralto voice is very powerful and very, very rare. First, let me answer a very common question asked about Diana's vocal range, because vocal range helps in defining a female singer's voice type. At 13 in 2017, her vocal range was measured from a low of D3 to a high of A5. As of September 2021, 5 years later at age 18, (she is now 19), her lower functional range was measured from a low of C3 to a high of B♭5. But, it's not how low she can go, it's the exceptional quality of her tone in her lower range. It's the roundness, the fullness, and the depth of her voice, along with her ability to create and access an enormous amount of resonance that further defines Diana as a "dramatic contralto", which is the rarest of the rare contralto voice types. The big question most people ask is, how does Diana do it? How can such a young female singer achieve such a low, rich, deep, and profound sound? Without actually scoping her vocal tract, the general conciseness of many vocal professionals simply attribute Diana’s ability to her winning the genetic lottery. She was just born with unique vocal anatomy. Diana’s vocal folds appear to be longer and thicker than most female singers. Her larynx also appears to be larger and her vocal track similarly appears to be longer than other female singers. It’s this unique vocal anatomy that gives Diana Ankudinova the ability to produce these low, deep, rich, full sounds, but without actually scoping Diana’s vocal track there is no way to be 100% sure. To really appreciate the vocal progression of Diana’s contralto sound, listen to "Rechenka", a Russian folk song sung in Russian for a vocal competition for disadvantaged teens called "You Are Super!" during their 2018 Season when Diana was only 14 years old. You can hear the beginning of Diana’s deep and rich lower range and her mature sound for someone so young. Next listen to her cover of Chris Izaak's, "Wicked Game" the following year in 2019 when she was only 15 years old during the 2019 Season of "You Are Super!". Diana Ankudinova vocally now is just about at a true contralto. Diana Ankudinova won both the 2018 and 2019 seasons of “You Are Super”. Just 2 years later, in September of 2021 Diana was 18 years old and competed in a new televised vocal competition called the “ShowMaskGoOn!” where Diana covered Elvis Presley’s classic “Can’t Help Falling In Love”. It was during this performance that her vocal range was again measured and her functional range now measured a low of C3 to a high of B♭5. This new vocal range is what now defines her as a “True Dramatic Contralto”. Diana at 18 is also a real polyphonic singer which is an extraordinary accomplishment for someone so young. A singer who has mastered this polyphonic vocal technique can create one, and sometimes two, different tones at the same time which adds to the harmonic overtones and undertones that can make it sound like more than one voice singing. This polyphonic ability is why some people mistakenly believe Diana Ankudinova is using some form of electronic voice manipulation or pitch correction software to alter or adjust her sound. Others believe another person is singing in the background, or she is lip-syncing over a previously recorded vocal track that was altered or modified. There is no artificial manipulation of Diana's voice of any kind going on at all. Neither is anyone else singing off stage nor is she lip-syncing to a vocal track. The “ShowMaskGoOn” is a very competitive vocal competition and Diana Ankudinova is required to use only the equipment provided to her as all other competitors are required to do. There was no opportunity for her or any other competitor to use any equipment to electronically manipulate or alter their voice. The other voices you are hearing is just a backing track used to fill in and round out the performance along with the musical score backing track. Diana Ankudinova and only Diana Ankudinova is singing “Can't Help Falling In Love”. Female singers usually don't reach their full vocal maturity until somewhere around 24 to 28 years of age although some reach it sooner, and others, later. Diana Ankudinova’s vocals are already developed well ahead of schedule in reaching vocal maturity. Some believe she has already reached vocal maturity. I look forward to what Diana will sound like in a few more years and to listen to her voice if it does mature more. If and when that happens, she will have had many more years of voice training with her voice teacher in addition to more years honing her on-stage live performance skills. When that day comes, there will be no doubt that Diana Ankudinova will be more of a vocal force than she is now. She will be a powerhouse to be reckoned with and a wonder to behold on stage. Diana took part in the “ShowMaskGoOn!” vocal competition that spanned 9 weeks and each competitor had to sing a different song in a different genera each week. In September of 2021 Diana Ankudinova performed her cover of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” as her first song. The judges were a panel of nine professional singers that competed against each other and also award judging points to each other. When Diana was not competing, she was a member of this judging panel. During Diana’s performance, the judge on the top row that stands up during the performance is the well known Russian tenor, Yusif Eyvazov from Azerbaijan who was a special guest judge for this competition, and is married to the world-famous soprano Anna Netrebko. At the end of Diana’s performance she received a standing ovation from all of her competitors. Another judge, Julia Parshuta, who is also a well-known contemporary Russian singer is the blond woman standing in the center row dressed in red. She looks totally shocked at the end of Diana's performance, puts both hands on top of her head with a look of total bewilderment and disbelief. Julia Parshuta, along with the other judges now know at some point, she and all the other judges have to compete against Diana Ankudinova, who is a generational talent. Finally, Diana won this competition.

You have not even gotten to a song where she shows off her crazy [keeping the secret] ability....she is her own autotune, and its effortless. She just very recently did a 3 hour webcast as a guest of Sasha Kapustina (another great singer)....the goofed around together like young women, but did do about a dozen songs together (without any prep), it is a great way to get to know Diana's voice and personality (maybe after you do the first half dozen reactions ;)

You're not the only one completely stunned. That guy with the beard who stood up - one of the judges - is a famous Opera singer. He was in awe and was very insistent in his comments to encourage her to protect this ultra-rare voice and get the best possible vocal training, to develop it to it's maximum potential and safely. And so say all of us! >>> Igor Krutoy, ( renowned Russian composer -who came out of semi-retirement to work with Dimash ) recognised this rarity also, and agreed. He provided Diana and her family the means to move to where the best vocal training is and supported them with accommodation nearby. 😊👍 Diana has gone from strength to strength since then. I watch a LOT of Diana reactions on RUclips and it never gets boring - I have heard this performance (singing live in several venues) literally thousands of times and I still get the same overwhelming feeling of being totally awestruck! And it's the same for the many, many hundreds of other songs she has performed, both covers and her growing number of original songs! Diana's has a huge variety of vocal techniques and she continually experiments with genre's and styles so it NEVER gets old! She has a superb vocal coach Aleksandra Pismennaya (АЛЕКСАНДРА ПИСЬМЕННАЯ) who is also her great friend and together they strive for more of everything! What's really hard to comprehend is that Diana is a long way from her full vocal potential yet! The future is full of surprises from her! Every song is a unique experience, it captivates you, you feel bound by magic. Diana was born May 2003. 31 in Arsenyev in the Far East Russia. She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her, had 12 pregnancies, only Diana survived... and she did not love her child, mistreated her severely and tried to drown her. Relatives found the child with a broken collarbone in the street and took the 3- year-old girl to a children's home shortly thereafter. Finally, there she found love... from Irina Ponik, who worked as a massage therapist and treated children from the orphanage. Irina Ponik and her daughter Nastya fell in love with Diana. Taking a child into the family was of course not easy for Irina ... Of course, taking a child into the family was not easy for Irina but she became her 'mother' when Diana was 5 years. Diana now lives in a poor but loving family. Diana spoke badly but sang all the songs from cartoons. An acquaintance of her mother, a musician, noticed that Diana had a perfect pitch and advised her to take singing lessons. So Diana took lessons from the singing teacher Elena Anatolyevna Kazantseva, who discovered Diana's talent. And so it all started ... The Arseniev period lasted from the end of 2008 to September 2012. During this time Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions. Diana's mother became her daughter's manager, she found the addresses of music competitions, negotiated with the organizers and selected a repertoire. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances and competitions is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She is looking for sponsors because flights are expensive and took extra sewing courses. Since then she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary. After winning a competition in Moscow, Diana's mother was offered to leave the girl in a boarding school for gifted children. She refused and in 2012 moved with her small family to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana now also has a grandma and has also lost her fear that the woman who gave birth to her would kidnap her. 2013-2015 Diana played in the theater studio of Dmitry Marfin, director of children's programs at the Togliatti Philharmonic Society, whom Diana valued as 'a real workaholic and fan of her craft'. Diana took part and won. These performances were broadcast nationwide, uploaded to RUclips and made Diana known worldwide. She now has many millions of fans around the world. The final of the international singing competition for children 'You are Super' took place in the Kremlin Palace. The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote. She likes to paint and draw so much that we can be glad that she decided to sing… But did you notice that she only ever holds a microphone in her right hand? Her left-hand underlines and paint, what she is singing. Diana puts her whole soul into each song. That all makes her performances special and unique. But not only is she a great singer and storyteller, she is also a humble, intelligent and hardworking young woman. She gives charity concerts… and she loves her family and values what they sacrifice for them. She loves her fans (they are 'Friends' to her) and she is grateful, that they helped to improve her home studio. On RUclips Prof. Donskoy und Diana had also regularly answer the questions of her Fans. Her Russian Friends have chosen Diana as "National Treasure" (no official title). In her home studio, she is currently experimenting (Corona time) a lot with different music genres and performing on both large and small stages. She loves the French language, but also sings in English and Spanish. 2020 Diana graduated from high school with honors and in September she has become a student at the Russian Institute of Theater Arts (similar to Juilliard). She studies in the specialty "Variety Artist". She is already composing songs and we will definitely hear her own song soon. She will only take part in major competitions if invited. Such competitions require a lot of time, effort and strength. As a result, participants often have large educational gaps and problems later on. Diana is a smart young woman. She focuses on her studies, her voice and expanding her repertoire.

Diana has a Wikipedia page which explains the abuse she suffered from her mother before being taken to an orphanage at age 3. The woman who finally adopted her put her with a voice/singing teacher because she still had not learned to speak. A genius move which we can now enjoy the results of with every new Diana performance.

Very briefly.....Her mother had had multiple abortions and was too late to abort Diana so she was unwanted at birth. Abused physically and emotionally by her she was abandoned at a bus stop in the middle of winter with a broken collarbone at the age of 3, found and placed in an orphanage. The children at the orphanage were sent to a centre for rehab and treatment and it was there where Diana met her future adoptive mother who was a physiotherapist .....music entered Diana's life as part of her therapy to help her with her stutter.

Welcome to the extraordinary talent and voice of Diana Ankudinova! For those in your audience that don’t know, Diana Ankudinova was only 18 years old when this performance took place during the 2021 season of a Russian vocal competition called the "ShowMaskGoOn!". Diana’s cover of the Elvis Presley classic "Can't Help Falling In Love", shows Diana Ankudinova has developed into what many vocal professionals are calling a true contralto voice! For those that don’t know female voice types, a contralto is the lowest kind of female voice, and a true contralto voice is very powerful and very, very rare.
First, let me answer a very common question asked about Diana's vocal range, because vocal range helps in defining a female singer's voice type. At 13 in 2017, her vocal range was measured from a low of D3 to a high of A5. As of September 2021, 5 years later at age 18, (she is now 19), her lower functional range was measured from a low of C3 to a high of B♭5. But, it's not how low she can go, it's the exceptional quality of her tone in her lower range. It's the roundness, the fullness, and the depth of her voice, along with her ability to create and access an enormous amount of resonance that further defines Diana as a "dramatic contralto", which is the rarest of the rare contralto voice types.
The big question most people ask is, how does Diana do it? How can such a young female singer achieve such a low, rich, deep, and profound sound? Without actually scoping her vocal tract, the general conciseness of many vocal professionals simply attribute Diana’s ability to her winning the genetic lottery. She was just born with unique vocal anatomy. Diana’s vocal folds appear to be longer and thicker than most female singers. Her larynx also appears to be larger and her vocal track similarly appears to be longer than other female singers. It’s this unique vocal anatomy that gives Diana Ankudinova the ability to produce these low, deep, rich, full sounds, but without actually scoping Diana’s vocal track there is no way to be 100% sure.
To really appreciate the vocal progression of Diana’s contralto sound, listen to "Rechenka", a Russian folk song sung in Russian for a vocal competition for disadvantaged teens called "You Are Super!" during their 2018 Season when Diana was only 14 years old. You can hear the beginning of Diana’s deep and rich lower range and her mature sound for someone so young. Next listen to her cover of Chris Izaak's, "Wicked Game" the following year in 2019 when she was only 15 years old during the 2019 Season of "You Are Super!". Diana Ankudinova vocally now is just about at a true contralto. Diana Ankudinova won both the 2018 and 2019 seasons of “You Are Super”.
Just 2 years later, in September of 2021 Diana was 18 years old and competed in a new televised vocal competition called the “ShowMaskGoOn!” where Diana covered Elvis Presley’s classic “Can’t Help Falling In Love”. It was during this performance that her vocal range was again measured and her functional range now measured a low of C3 to a high of B♭5. This new vocal range is what now defines her as a “True Dramatic Contralto”.
Diana at 18 is also a real polyphonic singer which is an extraordinary accomplishment for someone so young. A singer who has mastered this polyphonic vocal technique can create one, and sometimes two, different tones at the same time which adds to the harmonic overtones and undertones that can make it sound like more than one voice singing. This polyphonic ability is why some people mistakenly believe Diana Ankudinova is using some form of electronic voice manipulation or pitch correction software to alter or adjust her sound. Others believe another person is singing in the background, or she is lip-syncing over a previously recorded vocal track that was altered or modified. There is no artificial manipulation of Diana's voice of any kind going on at all. Neither is anyone else singing off stage nor is she lip-syncing to a vocal track. The “ShowMaskGoOn” is a very competitive vocal competition and Diana Ankudinova is required to use only the equipment provided to her as all other competitors are required to do. There was no opportunity for her or any other competitor to use any equipment to electronically manipulate or alter their voice. The other voices you are hearing is just a backing track used to fill in and round out the performance along with the musical score backing track. Diana Ankudinova and only Diana Ankudinova is singing “Can't Help Falling In Love”.
Female singers usually don't reach their full vocal maturity until somewhere around 24 to 28 years of age although some reach it sooner, and others, later. Diana Ankudinova’s vocals are already developed well ahead of schedule in reaching vocal maturity. Some believe she has already reached vocal maturity. I look forward to what Diana will sound like in a few more years and to listen to her voice if it does mature more. If and when that happens, she will have had many more years of voice training with her voice teacher in addition to more years honing her on-stage live performance skills. When that day comes, there will be no doubt that Diana Ankudinova will be more of a vocal force than she is now. She will be a powerhouse to be reckoned with and a wonder to behold on stage.
Diana took part in the “ShowMaskGoOn!” vocal competition that spanned 9 weeks and each competitor had to sing a different song in a different genera each week. In September of 2021 Diana Ankudinova performed her cover of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” as her first song. The judges were a panel of nine professional singers that competed against each other and also award judging points to each other. When Diana was not competing, she was a member of this judging panel. During Diana’s performance, the judge on the top row that stands up during the performance is the well known Russian tenor, Yusif Eyvazov from Azerbaijan who was a special guest judge for this competition, and is married to the world-famous soprano Anna Netrebko.
At the end of Diana’s performance she received a standing ovation from all of her competitors. Another judge, Julia Parshuta, who is also a well-known contemporary Russian singer is the blond woman standing in the center row dressed in red. She looks totally shocked at the end of Diana's performance, puts both hands on top of her head with a look of total bewilderment and disbelief. Julia Parshuta, along with the other judges now know at some point, she and all the other judges have to compete against Diana Ankudinova, who is a generational talent. Finally, Diana won this competition.

You have not even gotten to a song where she shows off her crazy [keeping the secret] ability....she is her own autotune, and its effortless. He was in awe and was very insistent in his comments to encourage her to protect this ultra-rare voice and get the best possible vocal training, to develop it to it's maximum potential and safely. And so say all of us! >>> Igor Krutoy, ( renowned Russian composer -who came out of semi-retirement to work with Dimash ) recognised this rarity also, and agreed. He provided Diana and her family the means to move to where the best vocal training is and supported them with accommodation nearby. 😊👍 Diana has gone from strength to strength since then. See her more recent 'Crow'. She is also composing her own songs. A career to watch.

I watch a LOT of Diana reactions on RUclips and it never gets boring - I have heard this performance (singing live in several venues) literally thousands of times and I still get the same overwhelming feeling of being totally awestruck! And it's the same for the many, many hundreds of other songs she has performed, both covers and her growing number of original songs! Diana's has a huge variety of vocal techniques and she continually experiments with genre's and styles so it NEVER gets old! She has a superb vocal coach Aleksandra Pismennaya (АЛЕКСАНДРА ПИСЬМЕННАЯ) who is also her great friend and together they strive for more of everything! What's really hard to comprehend is that Diana is a long way from her full vocal potential yet! The future is full of surprises from her! I look forward to every day, because Diana is in my life - daily! A unique, beautiful phenomenon with the heart of pure gold!

The woman who gave birth to her, had 12 pregnancies, only Diana survived... and she did not love her child, mistreated her severely and tried to drown her. Relatives found the child with a broken collarbone in the street and took the 3- year-old girl to a children's home shortly thereafter. Finally, there she found love... from Irina Ponik, who worked as a massage therapist and treated children from the orphanage. Irina Ponik and her daughter Nastya fell in love with Diana. Taking a child into the family was of course not easy for Irina ... Of course, taking a child into the family was not easy for Irina but she became her 'mother' when Diana was 5 years. Diana now lives in a poor but loving family. Diana spoke badly but sang all the songs from cartoons. An acquaintance of her mother, a musician, noticed that Diana had a perfect pitch and advised her to take singing lessons. So Diana took lessons from the singing teacher Elena Anatolyevna Kazantseva, who discovered Diana's talent. And so it all started ... The Arseniev period lasted from the end of 2008 to September 2012. During this time Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions. Diana's mother became her daughter's manager, she found the addresses of music competitions, negotiated with the organizers and selected a repertoire. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances and competitions is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She is looking for sponsors because flights are expensive and took extra sewing courses. Since then she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary. After winning a competition in Moscow, Diana's mother was offered to leave the girl in a boarding school for gifted children. She refused and in 2012 moved with her small family to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana now also has a grandma and has also lost her fear that the woman who gave birth to her would kidnap her. 2013-2015 Diana played in the theater studio of Dmitry Marfin, director of children's programs at the Togliatti Philharmonic Society, whom Diana valued as 'a real workaholic and fan of her craft'. Next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias. People demanded for Diana's participation in the competition. A door had closed but a new door opened: In 2018 and 2019, Moscow hosted the 3rd season of a unique international Competition instead of “You are Super”, which was launched in 2016 specifically for adopted and orphaned children. Diana took part and won. These performances were broadcast nationwide, uploaded to RUclips and made Diana known worldwide. She now has many millions of fans around the world. The final of the international singing competition for children 'You are Super' took place in the Kremlin Palace. The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote. Diana won a scholarship to the music college. Igor Krutoy gifted her a small apartment in Moscow so that she could begin her vocal training with the best teachers in Moscow such as Professor Olga Donskoy (she died of Covid-19 in October 2020). Diana has a Wikipedia page which explains the abuse she suffered from her mother before being taken to an orphanage at age 3. The woman who finally adopted her put her with a voice/singing teacher because she still had not learned to speak. A genius move which we can now enjoy the results of with every new Diana performance.
