Can anyone give a short explanation (or provide practical examples): what exactly is the purpose of the inter-blockchain aspect, if (I assume) you still need to sign with the participating chains respective keys and it doesn't have smart contracts? Genuinely curious. Don't have time to dive into the docs. Is there a high level overview somewhere that makes this clear?
Are you asking why is it important for blockchains to be able to communicate with each other? Imagine being a developer and having to build each library you use from scratch. This is obviously a tedious process and most developers nowadays just use libraries others have built. Polkadot is the ability to import (or to communicate with) those libraries (or blockchains) that someone else has built.

What's to stop the governance system being completely hijacked by the new major players in this new world? They will vote to change the network to favour them? They will vote to change the network to give them access privileges which make the playing field unfair to them? They change the charging structure etc?
I believe so like another blockchain voting system, its based not in majority only. but in a lot metrics measure engajement in community and another things to get voice to vote.
It will happen naturally, just human nature. You can make similar analogies coating govt systems in diff countries - some appear/are decentralized or democratic etc etc.. spectrum is upto interpretation but behind the scenes to manage decision making and as population & diversity grows, you need to make the decision making process much more efficient ... And at the end algo/logic behind is done by humans itself Look at ETH 2.0, sunny described it very well ETH is now a kingdom with so many stakeholders etc and decision making, development is slow and many other ETH killers in market.. Which exchanges trade DOT? Coinbase doesn't have it, Kraken has it but I have to jump though hoops to sign up. Binance has it but doesn't do business in my area. I have a coinbase account. Coinbase isn't that good but at least I can trade.

Why would you not just fork Polkadot and create your own version? You said would not want to divide the community, but why? It is hard work to keep ppl focussed on the same vision over time.
At 50:53 you mentioned that Tesla has the ability to self-upgrade, but isn't centralized authority? Tesla gets to decide what kind of upgrade it wants, and other vehicles choose to follow or not. In this case, it's not that problematic as changing protocol for a vehicle does not pose any business risk to its owner. However for Polkadot, who is in charge of deciding the network protocol? If some businesses have their customized blockchain on Polkadot, but the new protocol impacts their business model adversely, wouldn't there be a fork?
The comunity around Polkadot decide changes in the bases of Polkadot. I believe changes, features and upgrades dont will impact customied blockchain. Mainly why new features in low-level (Polkadot) its not suppose to do that. Its what understand about future-proof.

Say for eg. There are 1000 computers running. 500 computers belongs to a single person and 500 is distributed amongst 500 people. An instance comes when 200 people computers are shut down. And the same time a manupalation done on a computer which belong to a single person with 500 computers. This manipulation get authorized by 499 computers. How do you tackle this?

@@user-nz4yu7eh6w I think that most of people are looking on Kusama as a test net, but I have a gut feeling that in the end PolkaDot and Kusama will be like sister and brother. Also I would say that in a short time Kusama can be much bigger, and more powerful then Polka. But would love to say in-depth presnetation to get a better insights. Especially what was the vision of Kusama at the beginning and how it evolved in time.

At 45:50, Polkadot's transactions per second capacity is 166.666? Really? ... Really?? That's the number you came up with?
Which exchanges trade DOT? Coinbase doesn't have it, Kraken has it but I have to jump though hoops to sign up. Binance has it but doesn't do business in my area. I have a coinbase account. Coinbase isn't that good but at least I can trade.

At 50:53 you mentioned that Tesla has the ability to self-upgrade, but isn't centralized authority? Tesla gets to decide what kind of upgrade it wants, and other vehicles choose to follow or not. In this case, it's not that problematic as changing protocol for a vehicle does not pose any business risk to its owner. However for Polkadot, who is in charge of deciding the network protocol? If some businesses have their customized blockchain on Polkadot, but the new protocol impacts their business model adversely, wouldn't there be a fork?
The comunity around Polkadot decide changes in the bases of Polkadot. I believe changes, features and upgrades dont will impact customied blockchain. Mainly why new features in low-level (Polkadot) its not suppose to do that. Its what understand about future-proof.

Great video, i stayed for the entire thing. You've really helped my general understanding of Blockchain. I guess my only concern is that without a tangible asset you can actually hold, you are at the mercy of the sun, which at any time could cause an emp or solar flare that could affect all of the electronics on the planet. I suppose it is no different than the digital money in our bank accounts though, so.... I'm in on DOT! looking to the future!
