I was whispering, "pinafore, pinafore" while you described your thoughts on the brown plaid. It's perfect.

Friday pattern co has a blog post about lining the ilford and she does the placket option, I’ve lined mine with a Sherpa type fabric and did the placket option and it worked out fine, happy sewing x

I used to test for Jayne of the Dress Maker's Closet, and her patterns are lovely to make. I think the one you showed was her first pattern to go out to testers. Her patterns are really easy to make. As long as that fabric doesn't have too much body, it should be lovely. I made the mistake of using a jacquard fabric first, and it was too stiff and didn't hang nicely. I thought it was light enough, but it wasn't. I think your fabric will be fine, though, as long as it isn't too thick for the gathers to sit properly.

Her patterns are lovley... I want them all! Yes I think my fabric will be fine for the Poppy Pinafore. It's quite light and drapey so should sit nice. Thanks for the heads up though x

You could line with the same fabric you probably have enough, could use slippery fabric in the sleeve. Just a thought 🤔
