    Hello, I was just wondering if this piano can be put against a wall since it has a real soundboard. Also, is there a risk of the soundboard getting a crack in it depending on the humidity level? With those concerns, is the NV10 a better choice? Does the NV10 have a soundboard? These pianos sound incredible. Best piano sound I have EVER heard from a digital. I need to find a dealer to try them.

    • @J.AshtonMorgan
      @J.AshtonMorgan Год назад

      It is real wood, so it can 100% become cracked if it remains in humidity below 42/45%. I would ask Kawai if they would recommend a dampp-chaser, not entirely sure due to the electrical components, but a room humidifier would certainly be effective.

    I was excited owning one because I saw the best reviews. Now I have had nearly 2 years. I don’t think it is that worth. I could have spend less money with other digital piano. 1. I realized that there are no Kawai special technicians. It took me over a year to have someone come to see my piano issues. He only solved one problem - pedal was not responsive . Still have squeaky noise . Also my piano has ringing sound issues , he had no clue. He said he was not Kawai tech? But general digital piano tech. I don’t feel much different from less priced kawai digital piano. If I could buy one , I’ll spend less money with other one.

    Hi! Very nice video.
    In my case the keyboard cover, when opened for playing, touches the rubber nub provided on one side (left),
    but not on the other side (right). The cover is therefore not completely straight I guess.
    Is this a known problem or a production error?
    I also noticed that the case vibrates a bit on the left side.

      @@michaelevan9184 Yes, I am aware that these are midi controllers. They are midi controllers _with onboard sounds_ ... hence why I stated "a controller (no onboard sounds) with real acoustic action." Having onboard sounds greatly increases manufacturing costs, thus higher retail costs for the consumer. I am also aware that the millenium III upright action could not fit inside a VPC1, hence why you did not see me state nor imply this. 🙂 An "updated VPC1", i.e. a "VPC2", would not require the same form factor as a VPC1.

    So I’ve had my NV5S now for a week and love many things about it but I already have to have a technician come out to look at a few things. First, the pedals when I press them sound like crunching/creaking plastic and when I release the damper pedal it sounds like Velcro being torn apart. Then I have one key that whistles when I play it and the action is too heavy/slow to keep up with my trills and believe me I am not the fastest triller around. Has anyone else reported or experienced these issues? I thought the pedals issues were supposed to be addressed with this newer model.

      @@yandong6436 I compared to CA901 today, not the CA99 sadly, and I think the keys were definitely lighter. I think the CA901 was surprisingly light when you played harder. If you played softer you felt more resistance. I would say the real grands were a bit lighter to play than the NV5S. I was a little bit concerned for a few seconds and then I forgot about it and did not feel there was a problem at all. The CA901 felt odd after playing the grands and the Novus. It felt as if it would reduce my piano skill because it did not response like it should without the hammers if that makes sense. I tried Kawai 300, 500, 700, 900 and now the Novus and to be fair I have liked each one of them.

  • @claytonroot806
    @claytonroot806 2 года назад +1

    I purchased a Novus 5 for my wife for Christmas last year after we'd sold our house and moved into an apartment. For what it is, we really like it, particularly in Romantic Mode.
    However, there are some areas where the overall package falls down.
    One caveat for me is the "On Board" recordings of various genres of music which are quite simply disappointing to say the least. They're not musical at all and sound like they hired somebody with about Grade 3 piano skills to lay down the tracks. One would think that after spending this much time in developing this/these digital instruments, Kawai could have hired a professional MUSICIAN to record these songs for the delight of their owners
    .
    Some say this instrument can be used as your "Home Stereo System" via the Bluetooth link. To be fair, it actually sounds VERY good when used to playback PIANO recordings of various acoustic pianos. Obviously though, the onboard Onkyo audio system is equalized for tones in the Piano realm but is found lacking in "Full Frequency Response" for the audio spectrum of 16 to 20,000 Hertz. ANY proper sub-woofer will outshine the bass response of the SoundBoard transducers on this instrument and the high frequency drivers lack the crispness found in a good stereo system.
    Use the Novus 5 as an acoustic piano replacement and MOST people will be impressed, particularly if you live in an apartment. If on the other hand, you're looking for a viable digital representation of all manner of acoustic instruments, there are MUCH better alternatives available in the market today.

      What would you suggest for an acoustic piano sound in a digital hybrid?

    • @saarnoldbhm
      @saarnoldbhm Год назад

      Sure, a Korg Kronos for instance but if you want something that looks like an acoustic piano, and sounds like one and has amazing action, plus have some other sounds to entertain then this is a great home choice, and so is the CA901 by Kawai

    • @claytonroot806
      @claytonroot806 Год назад

      @@midnight4109 I have NO complaints about the ACOUSTIC PIANO sounds which emanate from this Kawai Novus 5 and it certainly looks the part and has great feeling piano action. It can also be adjusted to suit pretty much anyone. Those who have had the opportunity to try it have very been impressed.
      My criticisms were simply based on the OTHER functions of this device. Make no mistake. This is a $10,000 instrument. If you're looking for it to also substitute as a "premium" home stereo system, there are definitely better alternatives for a LOT less money.

      I believe that, like all choices we make in life, there are positives and negatives. And, as it should be, this is also the case when choosing pianos. There are so many advantages and benefits (for the price it costs), that the fact that the sound is not identical to the sound of an acoustic piano becomes a minor issue. In my experience, after having tested many pianos, believe it or not, timbre is not a primary and determining factor in the final decision. Yes, it is an essential factor. But not the only one. The response to touch, the texture of the keys, the weight of the keys, and all the other features that a digital piano has that an acoustic piano does not have are very relevant factors. And, above all, the joy of playing. And this hybrid piano, without a doubt, brings that! I can change the volume, use the metronome(s), record, change timbre, and connect other devices to help with studying (like the iReal Pro app, which I use every day), among many others. If you need a good acoustic piano sound, buy an acoustic piano. It will cost more, tough. If digital piano's sound were identical to acoustic, it wouldn't be a different instrument category. There is a reason manufacturers separate them into different categories. But they are getting closer, yes they are!
