    Jonathan, do you ever say anything bad? Been watching a long time and you never criticize anything. Hard to take your reviews honestly. Would be nice to see you critique something at least once so it doesn't come off as a paid advertisement.

      I was really frustrated too because it was very obvious especially around the AOE part when he said that it was really good and it was obviously crappy AOE and he said the shimming is good but it is once again crap because they use self shimming gears to my knowledge. I think he needs to be more honest and less biased because this video met my very low expectations.

    It's nice that vfc upgraded their piston and tappet plate from the crap clear plastic ones, and that they added a mosfet, but I'm not a huge fan of the bearings or autoshimming gears.

    Hi, have a question about my sons airsoft gun? He bought a new Avalon calibur 2 DPw and it doesn't want to fire. We to it back to the store we purchased it and the owner said we can't return it because they took the orange tip off. So the first thing was the fuse failed, they replaced it and still don't fire. Tried different batteries no luck, but the battery gets hot when trying to press the trigger. If you can point us in the right direction for solving the problem. Like watching your videos. I'm in Hawaii so not to many stores and there not to experienced in repairing the products they sell. Thanks for any information you can give us 🤙

    Hi
    I get new Avalon replica and I have different mosfet, on smal pcb below trigger. It’s new version ? I bought in Germany where full auto is not allowed, maybe it’s special version because of that ?
    I’m from Netherlands so I can use full auto but I’m not sure how to “fix”that problem. If is different mechanical selector or maybe that mosfet pcb? Any suggestion ?

    Jonathan thank you so much for doing this video. For those of us who aren't experienced techs, this was a very interested and informing video. I really like this video and would love to see more like this made. One I would be particularly interested in would be a video comparing motors like the krytac 30k, shs motor, and some others and see how they compare to one another. Great content. Keep it up.

      Here on VFC's Facebook page it mentioned that only the Avalon series will have the mosfet: facebook.com/VegaForceCompany/photos/a.125395630733.141537.125385545733/10154955370350734/
      Where did VFC announce anything about the Avalon series being included with an electronic trigger? :o From this video the mosfet appears to only be there to protect the mechanical trigger contacts. It doesn't seem to be an electronic/computerize customizable trigger at all.

The one year warranty doesn’t mean you’ll get a new gun...just the part that broke haha I’m pretty bummed about it. I was using the recommended 9.6 battery, but I guess it was too much for the gear. I have a problem with mine, but I'm not sure what is it? The problem is As I connect the battery it starts shooting on full auto without pulling the trigger and the wire's they get heat up... what could be the reasons for this.? Any suggestions? Thanks

    • @gelebanaan8482
      @gelebanaan8482 6 лет назад

      john nara I’m not entirely sure but it could be that you are using a top high of a voltage. My gun uses a 11.1volt Lipo battery which is the maximum voltage that you can get. My gun costs about 480 euros which makes it able to handle that voltage. But a cheaper gun of mine shoots twice every time I pull the trigger when there is a 11.1v battery in there. I would just look up your gun if I were you but I’d say that you should get a 9.6v battery or maybe even lower. (9.6 is still quite high tho). When you have a too high voltage your wires can get really hot because they are not meant for such high voltages but mine can get a little warm too but not really hot.

    • @ghostwalkerairsofttech1947
      @ghostwalkerairsofttech1947 6 лет назад

      you need to go beyond just a motor. You need HS gears, light piston, weaker spring (m85/90 - M100), possibly shorter barrel, and seal up those air leaks!! you need to think in terms of this as a whole system. 1 part upgraded can bring the whole system down if you dont consider all of the component in the system as a whole.

    Airsoftology, I love the channel but I had a quick question: do you know if a Lancer Tactical Multi Mission Carbine can handle prolonged use of an 11.1V lipo battery without too much more wear than if I use a 9.6 NiMH? An answer would be greatly appreciated.

    • @Monotonyman2010
      @Monotonyman2010 7 лет назад

      He'll never anwser...
      If I can help a little: if you want to run a 11.1V battery, something you should at least do is fix the angle of engagement (AoE). Other good things to do (but not limited to) are : re-shim bevel to pinion, radius the gearbox shell, re-grease, install a MOSFET or computerized trigger, e.g.
      Since running a 11.1V will get you a faster cycle rate, you might ran into the problem of overspin and/or per-engagement. To remedy this problem, one of the things you can do is run a stiffer spring. If you need to stay below a certain FPS, you can short-stroke the gears.
      So long story short, you can run a 11.1V on a stock setup but the faster RPM may cause a part like the piston to give out faster. That can be said for any setup but a properly tuned one will last longer while running a 11.1V battery. If you're not comfortable enough to make the above mentioned upgrades/tune-ups, you can have a tech do so. If you're not willing to do that either, sticking with a 7.4V LiPo might be a better idea.
      I hope I was of some help. Keep in mind this isn't a comprehensive guide on the tune-ups that are recommended for running a 11.1V battery. Places like Airsoft Society can be a lot of help.

    • @nicholasdunn1562
      @nicholasdunn1562 7 лет назад

      Thanks! What I'm understanding is that most of the time a stock gun is going to want at least a optimization before using a 11.1?

    Hi Jonathan, I am quite new to airsoft and have been binge watching your episodes over the past week or so. Admittedly I have a slight case of severe information overload (or slight case of severe brain damage if you're a Portal 2 fan :) )...in any case, I just ordered a VFC VR16 Saber M-Lok Carbine and wanted to get your opinion on it as far as it being a decent first airsoft rifle. It seems a couple of your latest videos (including this one) relate to this rifle or its components and, after handling the tan version of this, I was immediately impressed (except for the horrid tan color which is why I ordered the black one). Any thoughts you have on this model as a first weapon and any suggestions on what changes to it you would recommend are greatly appreciated! Thank you for the informative videos and keep up the good work brother.

    Hi everyone. I am somewhat experienced but not much, for ex I shimmed my own gearbox, but one thing I never understood, why would it be bad if the gearbox would reverse. I never dared to put together my gearbox without the anti-reversal latch because who knows what would happen, maybe the universe would implode :P but I'm curious, anyone knows? Anyone has experience?

    • @nickleinonen
      @nickleinonen 7 лет назад +1

      The ar latch does stop you from running it in reverse, but it's true purpose is to prevent the main spring from driving the geartrain in reverse if the trigger is let go early. Geartrain running in reverse can break off the tappet fin from the nub pushing it forward. If electrically driven, it can and probably will break your pickup tooth off

    • @sogerc1
      @sogerc1 7 лет назад

      Ah, all right, thank you. I guess that would happen a lot in full auto.

    • @billman3693
      @billman3693 7 лет назад

      You would strip your piston and gears because instead of finishing the cycle and going forward you would finish the cycle and get stuck and then keep spinning and strip your stuff (this would also require you to wire your motor up backward using everything including the motor to spin backward). The reason the ARL is there is to prevent backspin which would strip your piston because if you noticed in the video a bit of the piston was sticking out so that would get slowly grinder away (you gun also would not cycle). I've never done any of this to my gun I'm only going off what I think would happen based off my experience with gearboxes. Also I think I saw a write up on this topic somewhere. Hope this explains it.

      The first comment is completely incorrect, no VFC guns (even older models) have plastic gears. Internally identical. FPS is only different because of barrel length. This should be the same internals for all of the Avalon series.

      In terms of dimensions, the gearbox is a standard V2 gearbox that should be interchangeable with other VFC receivers + other brands.
      In terms of the internals, the Avalon internals looks to be great. We'll have to see how well some parts like the MOSFET will hold up.

    • @blackmanincanada
      @blackmanincanada 7 лет назад

      Just with the position of the gearbox with spring changes. When forcing a spring in I could see you putting stress on the nozzle.

      He didn't use a good technique in the video. I'd have the gearbox lie on it's side on a table and simply hold it in place with my right hand while handling the spring and spring guide with my left hand.

      I have the model year before the avalon and it handles a 11.1 very well without a mosfet. The avalon will work great with it.

      Tyler Mohning is it the Avalon or standard ar16? Also maybe the store where you bought it only had this version in stock and will get the newest version eventually.

    • @tylermohning
      @tylermohning 7 лет назад

      It is the Avalon cqb. I live in Germany and bought it from sniper-as.de. I have had nothing but problems with the internals so far. Tappet plate broke within the first 3 mags. The tamiya connecter just fell off. The motor died. The hop up unit broke. the trigger didn`t fit correctly and would just lock up completely like the safety was on and it wasn`t etc etc etc. Really dissapointing. It is my first aeg too. On the plus side I learned how to repair everyting lol.

      Don't waste money for an European version if you can have basically the same thing in the US. Also you may need the orange tip depending in which state you live so one more reason to go with the American version.

    Metal piston heads are just pointless, I hate them, same goes for bearings in the piston head, both just add weight to the piston assembly and put more stress on the front of the gearbox.
    A plastic piston head with a washer and nut is the most efficient solution, if this gearbox had that it would be a perfect stock gearbox. 👍

    VFC internals aren't good enough. Very standard gears - with high ROF and strong motor brakes like a matches. Tappet plate also like to break. Pneumatic system is 6/10. Overall nothing special.

    i REALLY dont understand why VFC used ball bearings in a high stress gun instead of solid bushings. Its a known fact that ball bearings dont hold up as well. Even Valken only uses ball bearings on their similar model for the bevel gear only.

  • @smoothkins

    man, you rant about how the gears are so fantastically thicker than standard gears when really, they're just run of the mill gears, you commend the shimming job without actually testing it, you rant about a $30 MOSFET that's infamous for burning out, that aoe was CLEARLY horrible, you really try to stretch the fact that the gearbox isn't radiused AT ALL, yet you keep insisting it has a tiny bit of hard-to-see roundness (in case you know, that's called NOT RADIUSED), not to include the weird details about how you saw how much grease they use and how the American trigger has a lightning bolt on it, man, you make me wonder how much you really lie about just to get that sponsorship money. we need honest reviews.
