Your video is , Mashaallah, very informative but it might even be more helpful if you could give the actual gauge measurements because a small change in gauge makes a lot of difference in the quality of tone and ease of playing ( at least that is my experience in the case of choosing sitar strings). For the nylon strings you could have referred to guitar nylon string numbers to make it easy for beginners.
My Rabab has four nylon strings, two metallic drone(?) strings on the upper part of the bridge and thirteen sympathetic strings. I’m getting confused as to what I should do. Similar Rabab not found in any RUclips videos.
I have a sarangi it has 15 sympathetic strings I used gauge 28 first in all sympathetic strings The sympathetic sound wasn't too good because the strings couldn't vibrate freely with the corresponding upper notes played on the main strings Then i changed all of them to 32 (thinner) Still the sound isn't sweet as needed Please give me some suggestions
Dont use the same guage strings for all of them. Use different guages for every 5 notes. Use thicker guage for shortest length string and thinner guage for the longest string. The thickness of the string, along with the tension, can affect the sound.
@@girigushpur indeed but i discarded that sarangi as it's pegs kept slipping always as it had a very weak pegbox so frustrating that after tuning for many minutes tuning was lost
@Anonymous-jr4xg sure buddy. But you can always fix the pegs by just rubbing sand paper on the pegs. The surface that comes in contact with the mainbody gets smoothed out over time, which reduces the friction forces that keep the pegs in place. Sanding that part increases the friction and keeps the peg tight.
Hey Hamza, thanks for all the videos, they are very informative to new players, such as myself. I wanted to ask if you knew where i could purchase rubab strings. I broke two of my strings trying to tune, i was hoping you could help!
OK, So I would suggest you to visit nearby hardware store, take metallic and nylon wires with you for reference, not sure about the exact gauge but the shop keeper would let you know that as well. Music stores might not have these low gauge metallic strings, there is a possibility but you would have to check it yourself.
@@HamzaJamil thanks so much for the help. There are some specialty indian and iranian music stores in California. They carry sympathetic strings for the sitar, sarood, and santoor. I will ask them also, hopefully they can help me out. Love your channel!

The tuners for my Rubab keep loosening and my Rubab goes out of tune
Wah yar wah sopar
Where to get these wires?
Bro, I'm having a very unique rabab but ain't using it that way! This is motivating
Sir bacho ge apna rabab
Rabab ki playing strings konsi use krte ho aap? Copper ya nylon? Or unka gauge kya h? Please
How to change nylon wire
lovely helpful
dost ap kahan say hen main sikhna chahta hon ap say
Plz make a tutorial of shape of you on rabab
Fair enough,my drone wires broke up while tunning how to attach em again?
Does it make a difference if all sympathetic strings are of same gauge? And which strings are better for drone wires? Which gauge should I use ?
For drone wires, choose the strings with lowest gauge as there is a high chance of breakage.
kindly can you make a tutorial how to mark frets on Rabab.
How many frets are already there on your rabab?
@@HamzaJamil there are 3 fret.
Use Pano tuner to mark the frets. Watch my Rabab tuning video for help.
Stay blessed

Use 28 for the lower 4-5 strings, 30 for middle 4-5 strings, and 32 for the upper 4-5 strings.
