I had a friend who came of age around the same time as Angelica Houston. She described the whole 'sexual liberation' era as being secretly terrible for women. Since 70s feminism hadn't yet taken deep roots, women were still expected to be subservient to men, even being their punching bags, but were also expected to be completely sexually available to them from the point of puberty onwards. There were many decent men, sure, but nothing holding back men who wanted to use, abuse, and dispose of women. Given how much women's financial and career prospects were tied to the men in their lives, women were so vulnerable.

John Huston sleeping with a teenager doesn't surprise me....John Huston was friends with George Hodel. George was outed by his LEO son who found his diaries...and believed his father, George, murdered Elizabeth Short. George impregnated his own daughter.
The Exquisite Corpse theory made alot of sense. John and George hung out with surrealistic artists who often depicted women in disjointed, disarticulated, limbs ascew sometimes dissected and/or decapitated. The theory goes that George's murder and dissected Elizabeth Short and subsequently posed her body where she could be found as a way of participating, like his friends, in the surrealistic art movement. George was an accomplished surgeon who learned how to cut a woman in half, an extremely specialized surgery not many learned.
John, in my mind, will always be connected to George Hodel and Elizabeth Short.
George was extremely narcissistic so I doubt he kept his "art" secret....if anyone knew, it was those in his inner circle, John being one of them.
Much like Nicole Kidman, Fiona Barnett and Stanley Kubrick are connected through Eyes Wide Shut. There's a reason Kubrick wanted Nicole to star in that film.
I wonder what she really knows about her father.
Dancano investigates, I believe, does a deep dive on George Hodel, surrealism and Elizabeth Short which is fascinating.

Ela mereceu a vitória! Pena que, pela vida conturbada, ela nunca percebeu que o Jack e o John eram pessoas horríveis!

Angelica Huston is an absolutely outstanding actress. I've loved her in everything I've seen but, my absolute favorite is Agnes Brown.

I thought this might turn into a story about John Huston and Ava Gardner. They were supposedly good friends. I first remember John Huston as the voice of Gandalf in the Hobbit cartoon. Everything else I've learned about him after that has not been good.

I LOVE everything Angelica Houston is in , Esp. The Addams Family!! She is THE best Morticia . I didn't know she had such a terrible childhood and young adult hood. My opinion of John Huston is in the TOILET though. He was HORRIBLE as a father and person.

Cuando leí sus memorias, y más aún indagué en la historia que ella tuvo con Jack Nicholson, debo decir que murió todo el respeto que tenía por él. A ella la amo mucho, y es mi actriz favorita, pero él siempre me parecerá detestable...
