thank you for watching!
Fiction charted in the West particularly in Germany (where I think it was 3rd place if Iremember well) and was played on the radio, that's why it's surprisingly well known in the late 20s+ range of people who aren't into kpop. Back then MTV also had kpop groups pre-debut/post debut programs (including Beast's) and a regular time block for kpop MVs
The penguin dance for the chorus was actually one of the reasons it got that popular, just like their choreo for Shock it is easy enough to copy that tons of people made covers or what would nowadays be considered "challenge". Tangent but I always find it funny when people complain about tiktok challenges and choreos being made for challenges because 2nd gen was all about easy chorus choreos that could be copied by regular people and almost all of the songs of that era considered classics have that easy to copy chorus choreo quality 😂
There are three eras of songwriting for them,
* 2009-2012 was mainly Shinsadong Tiger. They also have a pre-release song written by Bang PD - actually the song that got me into them - it's a very dramatic dance ballad called Say No (there's a MV)
* 2012-2019 was mainly Junhyung with Gikwang writing a few bsides
* 2019- is half Gikwang half outside songwriters with Dongwoon writing a couple of songs as well
If you liked the intro for Good Luck's MV, the following release 12 : 30 (MV has DV scenes so if that's triggering to you I don't recommend watching it), as well as later songs Ribbon (last song as Beast) and Loved (Highlight) have instrumentals with lots of strings
Most of my favorite Beast songs are bsides, but I also prefer Gikwang's sense of musicality (aka their post 2019 sound) so we may not have the same taste at all 😅
In their very old songs: Wipe The Tears (actually Gikwang solo from before Beast was created, he debuted under the name AJ as Cube's first ever artist a couple weeks before 4MINUTES but almost all of the Beast members were his backup dancers/rappers and both Dujun and Junhyung rap on this track), Midnight, Easy, On Rainy Days, Be Alright, Your Day Off, Lights Go OnAgain, How To Love (Beast ver.), So Hot, See You There, Oh Honey, Virus, Gotta Go To Work, Lullaby, and their Japanese discography is really great (the one you got interested in on Good Luck's EP is originally one of their Japanese songs)
Thank you for reaction! 🩶💙💛💚💜🌹💡
A Cube was originally set up as an independent subsidiary label from Cube Entertainment. Then in 2015, LOEN(now Kakao) acquired majority shares in the company and renamed it Play M Entertainment. A couple more name changes and mergers later, it's now IST Entertainment. The Wikipedia page for the label is pretty clear on the timeline.
An executive of CUBE ent. founded a new company. The company's name was A CUBE ent.
APINIK became the first group of A CUBE ent. To promote APINK, Na-Eun appeared in music videos for BEAST, a popular singer at the time. APINK also attended CUBE CONCERT. BEAST and APINK also advertised for school uniforms.
amooo pls more reaction to Beast
Beast was one of the most popular boy groups at their peak. I used to love their music. Also, there’s something about second gen and early third gen kpop that’s so iconic.
There used to be 6 members. Hyunseung (who was also in Troublemaker with Hyuna) left before they started Highlight and Junhyung left during Burning Sun (he was implicated). Junhyung was the rapper which is why there’s no rap anymore lol
It’s cool they’re still around and doing stuff. The maknae Dongwoon even got married recently but he got to stay in the group, yay
So back then ISTent/Play M Apink/Victon's company use to be called A CUBE and it was a subsidiary of Cube ent
So Apink are in Beasts early videos and Beast are in Apink early videos
They have also done official music videos together and Japanese releases
And later on A CUBE became more independent and changed to Play M
their weekly idol episodes are so funny hope you get to react to them
Please fo infinite too
