Surrounding circumstances and conditions are probably the greatest variables when the ship is at sea. It may become necessary all of a sudden to drop anchor in an emergency in case of steering failure, probable collision, manoeuvring in shallow waters etc.
As with any emergency operation, dropping anchor under the circumstances requires swift action that can prevent any imminent danger. The handling of the vessel and her anchor will differ as per the characteristics but the above points give a general direction to the procedure that is required in such a case.
“Fare wind and Calm Seas” - this is what a seafarer hopes for when he is sailing at high seas. However, nature is bound to show ups and downs, and rough weather may hit a vessel in open sea with no time to react. Even if there is a practice of sending pre weather warning to ships for route change or speed alterations, every seaman has experienced high swell and unfriendly side of the sea.
Incidents in recent years have highlighted the hazards of extreme weather at sea, emphasizing the need for action to better protect life and property aboard vessels. Hurricane force winds and phenomenal waves, in particular, endanger sea-going vessels regardless of size. Ships operating in high latitudes also face the threat of freezing spray, in addition to the more well-known hazards created by icebergs and sea ice. Despite the availability of high-resolution satellite imagery, increasingly skilful numerical weather prediction models and improved forecasting services, in the twenty-first century vessels continue to be lost at sea.

I think you will have to give Anand a stipend for being the main supporting actor or your sidekick! The two of you make a great team! The working atmosphere is exceptional! Thanks for another great video!😃
I could not agree more!!! Hahaha he steals the show at times with his honest but jovial comments
@@user-et2hv2kz6x It is a really good crew!
When I see Anand I think how lucky he is becoz he got a great teacher and officer on board and he is also a good person ❤❤
Your video’s are great thank you. The video’s taken without music is so much better. Along with the sights you are showing the natural sounds really enhance the videos. Happy transiting.
Glad you like them!
Beautiful video, busy 48 hours! You are doing a great job staying positive and being suppotive to your colleagues. Well done! I hope everyone was able to get some sleep!
You set an excellent example of the Golden Rule. God Bless You!
Wonderful video. It's nice to see that more and more women are daring to take up the profession of seafarer. Every profession has its advantages and disadvantages. If you love your job, you also put up with the less enjoyable moments. The draught on the ship is between 9.5 and 9.6 metres, as the water was constantly moving. Have a great holiday, stay healthy and take care of yourself.💙⚓🚢😍
Why is it wonderful ?
Thank you ute❤️
Hi Karanvir! Just wanted to share that I am a huge fan of your contents. I always wait and look forward to your videos. My father is a Marine Engineer and back when he was the Chief and sailing, he used to bring us on ship for holiday. And watching your videos lets me re-live those moments. Thank you for all your content! Have a safe and fun voyage!
It's always a great Thursday
Excellent edit everything is on point 🌼

Always a good day when Karanvir puts up new videos and his journey! So much coordination sailing into and out of the ports! Interesting to see how your ship gets into ports "sideways". Did the disaster with the cargo ship and the Francis Scott Bridge affect the ship you are assigned? Have safe travels.
another fantastic video from KNV. love the interactions with the cadets.

Excellent video, as usual! Thank You for making them. I know it is very difficult, but You make it as stress free as is possible. Born for Merchant Marine Captain! "They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; These see the works of the Lord, and His wonders in the deep." PS:107:23-24 KJV
Say 'Hello' to the Ladies for me! Smooth Sailing Always.

Another great video. I like the shots of the sea and harbours the best. Anand had a starring role ❤️ It was evident that the women who work at sea love their work despite all the hardships that this demanding job entails.

It's always nice to watch your videos.
You can tell you have more experience at those long days with no sleep between you and Anand. He tired and you're joking away and laughing! 😂
I have a few questions if I may?
If you had starlink, would you be able to bring it with you on board or is it a no no for some reason?
And what the difference between an anchor at short stay and an anchor at long stay?
Many blessings dude! From 🇨🇦 ✌️

Hi. Could you please name the background music that begins around 3:34 in the ‘Magnetic Compass Checks’ chapter? I love listening to such instrumentals and I have been searching this particular track for too long. Thank you 🙏. And I must add that I find these ships and the ocean very fascinating, and I am getting a lot of insights and knowledge through your channel. Do show sometime a time-lapse of the night sea during a full moon, if the camera supports.
Most inspiring man after my parents ❤
