    Call me crazy, but leather corals will always have a place to me. Mostly the toadstool coral. I just think they are gorgeous especially when they get big. But my all time favorite coral is Hammer corals.

    My top 8:
    1: Toadstools - awesome in general, but can be toxic
    2: Palythoa - very cool shape and spread like mad, but less colour than Zoas
    3: GSP (or any of the star polyps) - awesome movement, grows like a carpet shape and covers rocks and doesnt sting
    4: Kenya Trees - budget acropora, moves like one of those inflatable things that are sometimes outside of hardware shops
    5: Mushrooms (any kind) - indestructible, can be placed almost anywhere, so many colours, and grow quite fast
    6: Bubble Tip Anemones (not a coral I know) - very cool movement, can host clownfish and has a red and purple version which looks amazing
    7: Finger Leather - grows fast, is invincible and can survive anything, and has a nice green colour on some of them
    8: Tube worms/Feather Duster (not a coral, but still cool) I once had this red and yellow one and it looked sick. Enough said.

      Have a serious look at a Ripple Energy. I’ve just invested a few £1000s and it will stabilise my energy costs for next 20 years. I’m going to get about 40% ROI in just next 12 months because of high wholesale prices. I wish I’d put more money in.
      It certainly helps keep energy costs down for my reefing hobby!

    Since SPS hate me and my tank I'll go with my pipe organ. It's got movement, a good glow but is probably the only coral that is prettier when retracted with its extremely convoluted bright pink skeleton. Also it grows really well for me which is weird apparently.

    I'm not sure the Pikachu is a Pikachu - Have a look at the tiger blood underneath the Pikachu on EC Corals website at the moment. I think a real Pikachu should be A cyreathea (SIC) but yours looks closer to a suhasanoi - stunning coral and even the EC one doesn't look right to me ;)
    That blue polyped monti is crazy! I have a Crazy T and a (supposedly) Kung Pow and mine are saucer size after a couple of years. I have a 6 month JF Alter Ego that is also plating out - love these deepwater montis and they do better than my Digis - weird indeed.
    The SSC is insane! I hope mine ends up like yours - though my Blue Flame Tenuis has to be the acro I think will top my list when / if it grows out. The two I really want is a Pearlberry and Vivid's Confetti - I bought one but I don't expect it to be rea, - again I think I will have to go with Eurocorals frags

    I have a successful tank with the tang gang and almost 5,000$ worth of corals I haven't had any thing die I've been selling and giving away tons of frags but I from some reason I can't keep a chalice coral I have digital Montiporas, hamer corals gold, toxic splatter frogspawns, zoa gardens purple xenthania yellow eye gondiporas 4 types of mashrooms gsp, Jason fox leather corals but for some reason I cant keep a chalice coral it will last a good 5 months before it starts to bleach maybe I'm not feeding the coral as much as Im supposed to I have lsp and sps corals in the same tank that could be another reason but everything lives but a chalice coral

    • @deanfielding4411

      I keep my Chalice corals well near the bottom of my tank. If they’re bleaching it could be too much light. One of them almost lives in the dark!

  • @dusk1947
    @dusk1947 Год назад

    Well done. I really appreciate that you took the time to present both the hobby name and it's suspected genus and species.
    A level of effort far too many shops and content creators skip. That extra detail goes along way with viewers trying to procure a frag of there own, and it certainly conveys an extra level of professionalism.
    For example. The Pikachu you showed is the European Pikachu. While here is the states, a "Pikachu" is usually an Acropora microclados (same species as a strawberry shortcake), which isn't what you have. However, both Pikachu common names are accurate; which is why using common names is so inaccurate as a practice.

    • @ReefDork
      @ReefDork  Год назад +1

      Yeah, when I Googled Pikachu it came up with the microclados type hence why I chose the generic option for this! Annoyingly I couldn't find the species for the Euro version...

    Is your urchin still alive? The turf algae problem looks quite bad. That could be a sign that your rocks are becoming a phosphate reservoir. You should address your phosphate problem as problematic rocks could lead to a tank crash.
