I think there is enough meat here to chew on for along time! It's my belief that mastering this video you have built a SOLID platform to to become a blues man! Das 😎 all! Das 😎 cool! 👍❤️
After watching probably a 1000 videos on here I have to say this 1 is by far the best. Great player and teacher very easy to understand and he doesn't leave you hanging wondering what the hell comes next. I'm now finally learning something worthwhile thank you so much.
If you're ever in town to see me and my band you will find me playing this exact solo. I will of course use it in a different key and do my damnedest to make it look spontaneous.
There are simply not enough comments on RUclips praising Bobby for his exceptional and indispensable online blues guitar course. This video does a great job of showing that he teaches not just technique and execution, but really gets across the soulfulness of a really wonderful blues solo while showing how to express that “feeling.” I can’t recommend highly enough. I have no affiliation other than that I’m taking the course and am loving it!
I am so happy I stumbled on to this lesson. "When the student is ready the teacher shall appear". Bobby is obviously a very talented guitar player, but that alone does not make a good teacher. His ability to explain what he's doing and why is outstanding, which is so important for any type of online lessons. The pace of his lessons for me is also just right, in that Goldilocks zone. Awesome! I've signed up. Do it people!
I decided to pay for full membership. Glad I did. Bobby is an excellent teacher. The subject is blues and only blues. Bobby introduces all the little nuances that turn a simple I, IV, V and pentatonics into a full fledged master class for beginners to expert. This is the real deal. Well worth it!!
Hea, greetings from Cajun country great lesson. Been playing since i was 12 now I'm 70 and my band played this type of blues all over, i just wish I would have had lessons like this when I got started great lesson and keep it up Thanks man
Blows me away that this channel only had 4.9k subscribers when this guy plays better( and teaches) than 99% of all other instructors in RUclips land! Amazing!
Not sure how anyone can give this a thumbs down. Awesome lesson, awesome playing. Having you play the solo with the track and then break down each lick is a great format and makes it a lot easier to get the phrasing correct. Your an awesome musician and teacher! Thank you so much for sharing!
As I have seen you many times with your Floyd appearances and been amazed at your solo skills, I can only thank you for these lessons, which give us mere amateurs a chance of at least enjoying some kind of guitar experience, thank you again Bobby.
Why did RUclips take so long to recommend this channel to me?! This channel should be home base for anyone wanting to dive into what blues guitar is all about...
This is a GREAT intro to playing a 12 bar Blues solo! The V (or Five) chord licks are especially good and it all sounds so slick and impressive with lick No.8 being so well constructed starting on an E note and resolving to an E note! 15 quid a month for your Blues course is a steal. Folks, Bobby knows his stuff!
I'm an old player who has been trying to learn some new theory to improve my playing, particularly blues. I've picked up lots of odds and ends, but you, my friend, just put it all together for me. You were exactly the right teacher for where I am and I am extremely grateful. - Jstn
I've been working on this for a couple of days and making good progress. Bobby is good to work with as he comes across as a genuinely nice cat who knows he's a badass, but he's happy to share his knowledge in a laid back way.
Thank you, Bobby. This is the best lesson I’ve ever seen. I’ve progressed out of sight in 12 hours practicing this lesson and my confidence has finally arrived. I’ll be joining your site. Amazing teacher.

Excellent lesson. You have a very calm and clear way of describing what you are playing and why. I have been moving around the A minor pentatonic scale in all five positions for a while but wandering between them without any sense of purpose. I am 69 years of age and intend to learn this solo before I die. Thank you so much, I really have learnt a lot by watching this video.
I know I'm super late commenting on this but it has propelled me light years ahead of where I was. Cannot thank you enough for the fun and freedom you've given me to keep jamming!
Bobby, after seeing you in Brit Floyd (in person) absolutely blow everyones mind with your unbelievable playing, it seems weird to have you come down to the level of a beginner like me and teach basic blues. Kinda like Chopin teaching a five year old how to play "Chopsticks" on the piano! Great stuff, man. Wonderful teacher! Many thanks!
I've only been playing for a few months, and this is one if not the best teaching video I have come across. Never really listened to a lot of blues, but then I found myself absolutely enjoying the style after following a few beginners to intermediate blues guitar lessons on RUclips.
Where have you been all my fretting life???!! This one lesson is phenomenal and allows me to diversify and place punctuation marks on similar licks I've known but this guy really puts class and emphasis with great explanations behind them all!! I want to enroll or sign up as this is exactly what the Blues doctor ordered for me and my current intermediate level!! Jim C.
Ok I started working this solo into my practice cycle according to my practice log on 1/17/24. Licks 6 and 11 were difficult. 6 was challenging for its technical challenge, and 11 for its phrasing. I’m happy to say I can play the entire solo perfectly with the recording; albeit at half tempo. Lol. But that’s ok. The rest is just practice with a metronome to get it up to tempo. Then ween off the recording to a backing track. Then it’s in my basket forever. I really like the turn around licks and already hear variations that I can work out. Thanks Bobby…. 3/3/24 Full tempo with recording.
i could listen to you play all day Bobby! But i gotta pracice too! Thank you so much for all your GREAT lessons! i learned 'shine on you crazy diamond' and 'time' and 'money' PF songs from you, and so many blues licks and techniques from you! thank you! you are a great teacher
I just came across your channel. Surprised that I never saw it before. 11:21 Great lesson. I started guitar three years ago and trying to learn how to solo.
Absolutely brilliant lesson. Some sites give lots of licks to practice but to have these as all part of one blues solo is fantastic. For an average guitarist like me, these were not too difficult to play and internalise.
Thank You so Much for this "Amazing" video. Your time and effort is greatly appreciated. Your style is extremely smooth and a wonderful depiction of the Blues. You, also, have the perfect personalty for instruction. I'm 72 years old and still playing the Blues on all of my Guitars, Drums and Keyboard.
Thanks a lot for a great video. I'm just picking up the guitar after a "short" - 32 year - break in playing. Lessons like this are exactly what the doctor ordered!

Plus the tab while teaching the lick and explaining where you are in the progression is a huge positive. One, if not the best single lesson I've ever seen. Kudos, well done.

Agree. Definitely a solo worth copying. Chock full of classic blues elements. My fave is the run-on descending lick in bars 7&8 of the second chorus.
At least you admit it👍🏼
It'll change over time & get your flavor on it. But definitely 24 good bars

thank you for the time in making this fine lesson.
the chords are getting easier now after a few times through.
this lesson was a "next step" for me, and it's perfect.
Love Blues/Rock & have been playing for over 4 decades & got my subscription just because it’s to the point but also doesn’t try to sell a membership to something every 10 mins or donations plus for new players he breaks it down for quick understanding until you are able to learn but gets you playing with practice of course.. also it helps if you are a good teacher and Bobby nails it & with some fun. Keep rocking and look forward to checking out your videos now and future one🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻
