Probably The Most Valuable FREE Blues Guitar Lesson You’ll Ever Take - With TAB!
Here’s a 100% FREE, in depth blues guitar lesson with on-screen tab, taught by Bobby Harrison. In this tutorial, we will learn 15 essential blues licks in the context of a 12 bar blues solo over a shuffle groove in the good old-fashioned key of A.
Our solo spans two choruses (twice around the 12 bar progression) and features many classic blues licks and phrases in the styles of B.B. King, Freddie King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King and Albert Collins.
These 15 licks feature classic blues tonality, along with chord tones that really highlight the changes. These are all extremely usable ideas that you can incorporate into your own playing. Each lick breakdown features on-screen tab
In addition to learning the solo, we’re also going to cover a very cool rhythm guitar part that you can try out next time you find yourself at a blues jam. Enjoy!
The lick and solo tutorial starts at 10:15.

For a full range of blues guitar lessons, featuring HD video tutorials, downloadable, high quality backing tracks, tab, standard notation and fretboard diagrams, check out our website at www.absolutebluesguitar.com
This short, free tutorial merely scratches the surface of blues guitar and is not part of our website, since it was made to promote the course after launch. However, full tab and backing track for this lesson are available to full members on request. Our website offers a HUGE, in-depth guitar course featuring hours of tuition material designed to have you improvising blues authentically.
I use Hawk Picks and Elixir Nanoweb 10-52 strings.
I am left-handed, but the video has been horizontally flipped in order to make it easier for most “normal” players to follow.

There are simply not enough comments on RUclips praising Bobby for his exceptional and indispensable online blues guitar course. This video does a great job of showing that he teaches not just technique and execution, but really gets across the soulfulness of a really wonderful blues solo while showing how to express that “feeling.” I can’t recommend highly enough. I have no affiliation other than that I’m taking the course and am loving it!

After watching probably a 1000 videos on here I have to say this 1 is by far the best. Great player and teacher very easy to understand and he doesn't leave you hanging wondering what the hell comes next. I'm now finally learning something worthwhile thank you so much.

I am so happy I stumbled on to this lesson. "When the student is ready the teacher shall appear". Bobby is obviously a very talented guitar player, but that alone does not make a good teacher. His ability to explain what he's doing and why is outstanding, which is so important for any type of online lessons. The pace of his lessons for me is also just right, in that Goldilocks zone. Awesome! I've signed up. Do it people!

Agree. Definitely a solo worth copying. Chock full of classic blues elements. My fave is the run-on descending lick in bars 7&8 of the second chorus.

I decided to pay for full membership. Glad I did. Bobby is an excellent teacher. The subject is blues and only blues. Bobby introduces all the little nuances that turn a simple I, IV, V and pentatonics into a full fledged master class for beginners to expert. This is the real deal. Well worth it!!

This is a GREAT intro to playing a 12 bar Blues solo! The V (or Five) chord licks are especially good and it all sounds so slick and impressive with lick No.8 being so well constructed starting on an E note and resolving to an E note! 15 quid a month for your Blues course is a steal. Folks, Bobby knows his stuff!

Excellent lesson. You have a very calm and clear way of describing what you are playing and why. I have been moving around the A minor pentatonic scale in all five positions for a while but wandering between them without any sense of purpose. I am 69 years of age and intend to learn this solo before I die. Thank you so much, I really have learnt a lot by watching this video.

Keep rocking and look forward to checking out your videos now and future one🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻

Ok I started working this solo into my practice cycle according to my practice log on 1/17/24. Licks 6 and 11 were difficult. 6 was challenging for its technical challenge, and 11 for its phrasing. I’m happy to say I can play the entire solo perfectly with the recording; albeit at half tempo. Lol. But that’s ok. The rest is just practice with a metronome to get it up to tempo. Then ween off the recording to a backing track. Then it’s in my basket forever. I really like the turn around licks and already hear variations that I can work out. Thanks Bobby…. 3/3/24 Full tempo with recording.

@@absolutebluesguitarlessons2722 .. working out on these 15 licks has created new muscle memory .. it's created a whole different approach to blues for me too .. I play using 4 finger 4 fret so emphasis is more on using ring and pinky fingers .. I see you stretch the middle finger across a couple frets where I use the ring and pinky fingers to slide and bend so I'm set up for the index finger in position .. but I still use 3 fingers dominate for runs like Clapton .. but I modified when I started jazz stuff, DiMeola, Eric Johnson, Larry Carlton with heavy alternate picking and hammer ons .. I would have never been able to imagine playing your blues in this lesson without countless hours of alternate speed picking, 4 finger srength and muscle memory in all 4 fingers and applying some fretboard music theory .. I'm immersing myself deeper into understanding how to lead into the chord changes, hitting target and ghost notes that don't necessarily fall withing the triads, 1,3,5,7 , arpeggios or relative scale patterns .. wheew .. I really appreciate you .. I subbed to your channel with bell and will be surfing your website while I really challenge myself into integrating my ear and picking blues .. look for me down the road my friend

An absolute killer tutorial, Bobby. I've been looking for the right tutor for 2 months, and I reckon my search is over. Thank you.

Wow... what a great lesson! Thank you. You nail so many of the classic sounds of blues guitar in that one solo.

It is such a pleasure to encounter an instruction about melody rather than scales. Really useful.

What an enlightning lesson to get started for real. I think, most of us are a bit tired of too much talkin about minor and major blues boxes. Well, it's very comfortable places to be, but in this lesson we get a straight forward lesson how to build a genuine blues solo - without a lot of theory. Thank you so much. This lesson made me much more confident playing my share of solo in the band. Btw, you're a very good guitarist......and teacher as well. Greets from Denmark :-)
