I just finished reading The sight and it is by far one of the most frustrating books I have ever read, especially as someone who's deaf. Seeing people treat Jaypaw differently just because he was blind filled my heart with anger, calling j
him worthless and beating him down, saying he'll never be warrior. It made me sick what the writers did.

That’s kinda what makes him great. He struggles to understand empathy isn’t pity because he can’t pick up on visual clues. He struggles to understand everyone because he’s so pessimistic and doesn’t want pity given to him. His A-hole start in this is key to his whole development as he learns to trust people and to pickup on audio social cues better. He still retains a witty edge and still has problems opening up with his emotions but by the end of Omen of the Stars you’ll see Jayfeather carries 12 books on his back and needs surgery
Having read through Power of Three, I honestly couldn’t see why people like Jay so much at first. As I read further I realized, Jayfeather is one of the best characters in the series, but Jaypaw can go French kiss a belt sander.
