DISTRICT INFORMATICS CENTRE (NIC-Betul) was setup in 1989 in accordance with the M.O.U. signed between NIC and Govt. of Madhya Pradesh to set up NICNET facilities in M.P.National Informatics Centre (NIC) Betul is a premier Science & Technology institution of the Government of India, providing ICT solutions adopting best practices, integrated services and technical solutions Betul in government departments. Since its inception NIC Betul is providing required support services in design, development, and implementation of appropriate MIS/Databases, Training, and Electronic Communication and processing of various Departmental databases. NIC District Centre provides common ICT Infrastructure and support services to government departments with Products and Solutions designed to adopting e-Governance initiatives. NIC has taken various e-Governance activities like Samagra Samajik Surksha Monitoring , e-Uparjan, e-Scholarship, e-District (Lok Seva kendra), National Animal Disease Reporting System (NADRS), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MG-NREGA), Election MIS, Polling Party Formation for State Legislative Assembly & Parliament elections, NICNET and NKN network services, Local Area Network at Collectorate premises and Video Conferencing facility has been appreciated. The video conferencing facility extended up to 10 blocks, 8 Tehsils . The services of NIC District Centre, Betul has become an indispensable tool for the district administration and various other state and central government departments.

I went through NIC website almost all districts has a DIO office that means you have to live mostly in tier 2 or tier 3 cities (maybe small towns) in the country. You are lucky if you get tier 1 city posting (which might happen once). Be careful if you decide to join this organisation.

Mostly people are posted in Delhi initially, and even if you will get some tier 3 city, it will be near to your home, they make sure about this. and DIO at tier 3 city is not bad, I don't get what's so good in tier 1 cities, except the heavy population, traffic jam and pollution.
