Neglecting those who slander. In fact, you are my favorite travel couple. Strolling parks and supermarkets, cutting hair, and cleaning ears are the daily lives of the locals. Unlike those who go to famous tourist attractions, you experience the daily life of Chinese people, which is the meaning of travel.❤❤

      @@TwoMadExplorers *Suggestion :*
Try Business Class tickets next time and you'll avoid all the hassle.
You don't have to line up. And you can stay in their VIP lounge with free snacks and free drinks until the train comes.
When the train arrives, a staff will go with you to the train and help you carry your luggage.
Your ticket includes food (if it's long distance). And the seats recline all the way to horizontal so you can sleep!

You can walk by the Erhai Lake, sit down and drink Yunnan coffee (Yunnan coffee is also very famous, you can look for it), look at the different clouds on the plateau and some folk singers singing. It is a very relaxing place.

This train you took is HeXieHao 和协号 which was designed for inter-city service 动车服务 (Dong Che Fu Wu). When you purchase ticket, lookout for train service number with prefix Gxxxx (G for Gao or高速铁路 Gao Shu Tie Lu which means High Speed Railway)and prefix Dxxxx (D for Dong Che or 动车)。 Train service which begins with Prefix D normally has more stops between your city of origin and destination, therefore affecting the top speed of the train) Hope the above would help you figure out which train service to get in future.

Cheers, I like your videos, I've watched a couple of them so far and will keep watching more. One comment here, from a foreigner who has spent about 20 years in China, there is no need to be an hour earlier to a train station in China, I take those high speed trains on a regular basis, at least monthly if not weekly (I've taken a Chinese high speed train probably more than 100 times now over the past 15-20 years since they first started, they keep improving the speed and experience all the time, now you can even order F&B brought right to your seat from the restaurants at the next station etc). Right now, depending on the station (big ones will have some queues but not more than 10 min, small ones are super fast) arriving to the station about 20 minutes before scheduled train departure will work fine. I've never missed a train in China yet, I have missed an airplane 2 or 3 of times though as those airport check-ins sometimes decide that they close 60 min before departure and you can't check in anymore even if you could make it to the place. Trains work much better.

Differences in China's railway network: First of all, China has built a nationwide railway network in the last century. Tickets for the old lines were usually "green trains" starting with "Z", "T", and "P". The new trains run on these old railways at a speed of 200~300 km/h, and the tickets start with "D". The new train runs on a high-speed railway built specifically for it, which is the "high-speed rail" you took last time.

In fact, at 2:30 in your video, the bullet train on your left is China's new generation of intelligent EMU trains (model CR400AF-Z) that will be put into operation in 2021. The prototype of this model (model CR400AF-C) has fully automatic driving capabilities, but the subsequent mass-produced vehicles have disabled this capability in software. The model of the train you took this time is CRH-3C, which is a localized modification based on the Siemens ICE train introduced by China in 2008.

The speed of the train has nothing to do with the first-class business seat. From your video, it can be seen that the speed of the high-speed train is 300 per hour. It has something to do with the train number. There are many trains in the same destination and the time is different. Maybe you didn't pay attention when buying the ticket. Before buying the ticket next time you buy the ticket, you can check where the departure place of the train you want to buy. Open the map and compare it. This is faster and saves money.

The biggest challenge in terms of train travel would probably be the Russian west to east train that takes five days. Prob best to wait a couple years with that one though, they are a bit busy over there in Russia atm. However, you can do the train to Tibet while you're in China. That should be an adventure as well!

I do like these options because different peopole can select the best way for them.

Some factors affecting train runtimes: there are multiple stations in a city, heading to Chengdu, Chongqing North is farther away than Chongqing West, chengdu south is farther than chengdu east. Direct service vs service with more stops. And different operating companies. The train you were on is run by Chengdu railway company (heard from the announcement) but there are other companies (Shanghai company, Kunming company etc.) on it as well. Services will be slightly different among different companies just like airlines.
