Next-Level Lighting Control: GrandMA3 2.0's Generator and Bitmap Engine Unleashed!

  • GrandMA3 2.0 have two amazing new features witch we are going to dive into in this video.
    The first one we are going to look at, is the new GrandMA3 generator witch can generate random content for your lighting fixtures. Working with strobe channels has away been an issue for me because the different manufacturers have different way of making fixtures strobe randomly.
    GrandMA3 2.0 fixed that with the new generator functionality.
    GrandMA3 also introduce the bitmap engine back into the software with the newest release of 2.0. The bitmap engine can playback small video files that you can import directly into the console and playback over a selection of fixtures.
    You can also use the bitmap engine to playback an NDI feed straight from your media server and map that to your fixtures.
    I hope you will enjoy this video and be sure to give it a like and subscribe to the event lighting channel if you enjoy the content.

    I haven’t used the strobe channel on any fixture in the past 10 years as effects in GrandMA2 could do something similar. Dimmer FX with PWM curve, width set to 1 or 2%, Attac and Decay set to 0, speed to Rate 3. Go from there.

      I tried to do the same, but i could always see kind of a pattern in the effect. Not that it was useless, but i think the generator has a great potential for the future 🙂

    I thought the whole concept of this software was meant to be to no longer separate effects and presets. That presets/phasers were supposed to be a 1 stop shop for everything. Seems like a step in the wrong direction although very cool? These generators seem like single step phasers, interpreting this into phasers would make more sense to me.
    Also what GPU do you have? If I put more than 20 light sources on in the 3D I get 1 fps 😂
    Love all your content! Cheers

    • @Event-Lighting
      @Event-Lighting  6 месяцев назад +2

      Well yes I see your point 😀 I am not sure it bothers me to use the generator outside of the phaser, because I think I will use generator very little but for kind of a different purpose. I use a stationary pc with a RTX2080Ti graphics card and that behave fine most of the time. But when I push grandma3 3D and screen record the screen recording is sometimes lagging 😵‍💫😵‍💫 thank for watching my content and commenting on the videos 🙏😀

    hi, great video 👍
    I just have one question, what brand do you use for the little lights used for the bitmap demonstration?

  • @j2ballybatty
    @j2ballybatty 4 месяца назад

    Hi, I’ve got to the point. I pretty much understand 100% of the gui and like 70% on the commandline I see all of these amazing tools yet I am not sure on how to lay them out or the best way to set them up for a specific console say on pc to a actual ma3 light.
    Is there any chance you could do a video on just general guidance on the most efficient way to kind of lay everything out for shows like busking and timecode?

    For some reason when i make a bitmap with NDI, the center of the canvas is not the center of the video source. It offsets in X, so working with 10 fixtures i need to put -2.5 in X, working with 60 fixtures -0.42 in X and so on. I have to readjust each bitmap content... got any idea?
    sorry my english btw

    • @Event-Lighting
      @Event-Lighting  6 месяцев назад

      Well - i am not sure. But maybe you could check if your 3D is offset to one side a little bit. The selection grid comes from you 3D so maybe you didn’t start in the center 😀

    Hi. How do you turn off you bitmap and generators in recipies?

    • @Event-Lighting
      @Event-Lighting  6 месяцев назад +1

      You can give it another value like intensity at 0. You can also use stomp like on any other phaser - like group 1 stomp dimmer. 😀 So if you have a preset with dimmer at 0, that will turn off a generator. But it depends on what parameters you use to create the generator or bitmap.

  • @ibimslawa
    @ibimslawa 6 месяцев назад

    But can the parameters of the Bitmap and Generator be manipulated via the programmer? Just like the MA2 Bitmap Fixture?

    • @bentoylight1950
      @bentoylight1950 6 месяцев назад +3

      There is a new gma3 bitmap fixture. But it is not mentionned here. Look at the release notes

    • @Event-Lighting
      @Event-Lighting  6 месяцев назад +2

      Yes as mentioned here there is a bitmap fixture in the console. I didn’t try working with it, because the way I showed it will probably be the way I will work with it 😀 Maybe I will look at it again In a future video.

    What's the consensus on stability on 2.0? Is it better than 1.9.7? I have a show coming up I need to make from scratch so I could make it on either one.

    • @Event-Lighting
      @Event-Lighting  6 месяцев назад +2

      If it was me then I would definitely go for 2.0. The stuff I have played with so far seems stable enough. There has been a few crashes on the onpc version when storing views with thumbnails. But for mailing shows I would use it. 😀

      @@Event-Lightingthanks for the comment. The shaper helper and the tracking updates seem beneficial. I'm doing a theatre show with all Framing fixtures.
