Thanks guys, enjoyed your take on this amazing Bournemouth team. Remember we only had 3 points after Iraola's first 9 games, despite this the football we were playing you could see his approach would eventually pay dividends. The owners also deserve a lot of credit by sticking with him. Thanks again. (Fan of AFCB since 1955).
I’ve been really thinking, this HAS to be the year where the athletic pod covers more of teams in the Prem, Bournemouth is a great example, Fulham next!
As an ardent cherries fan, I think Dermot makes a very good point about 10 minutes in that under Andoni, no player is bigger than the team which in the Premier League era is legitimately a rare thing. You can hear in emanating in player interviews that they all massively respect Adoni, but also heap genuine praise on their team mates. He finds a way to ground the lads which is testament to the fact that we've been playing incredibly well as a tight and compact unit despite having one of the longest injury lists in the league. Theres no ego with Iraola, he's a massive breath of fresh air.
Jon is absolutely spot on, although there are headline players like Semenyo, Kluivert and Kerkez, it is Christie, Cook and Adams that are the real stars of the team, the engine room that makes the team tick. Huijsen has also been a revelation, brought in out of necessity when we lost Senesi due to injury, he has has evolved into the super calm rock beside Zabarnyi, and formed probably the best and youngest centre back partnership in the premier league, if not Europe. The biggest issue is the injuries, the players are having to play flat out for 90 minutes with little chance of rest by being substituted or rotated in the next match. While they are getting these results and on a high, it is easier for them to recover, but when results don't go our way, that will be the acid test.
When Jon talked about wanting to increase the tempo of the game I wonder if that's a deliberate plan, in that the faster you can make the pace of the game the more you can trade up with a fit squad against very technically skilful opponents. There's perhaps an upper limit to press resistance of player like Guimaraes at Newcastle or Manchester City's whole back line, that can be exploited with relentless energy and good principled drills. And whilst with sufficient financial clout you can maintain a monopoly on talent you can't really maintain a monopoly on fitness and gumption.
Friends, my recommendation as a replacement for Iraola, for when he leaves, should be the current coach of Rayo Vallecano, called Iñigo Pérez. He worked as a second and was Iraola's right-hand man at Rayo. Iñigo Pérez has very similar concepts of the game to Andoni's and, right now, he is making his team play very attractive and effective football. Greetings from Madrid 🇪🇸
Im not sure he should go to another club- if you look at the managers that did well that did step up they all failed and lost their reps - pog, silva, potter, nuno, none of them have had success - why not stay and do it woth bournemouth?
Who would realistically come in for Iraola in the summer? The big teams have their managers sorted. Spurs are spiralling and will finish below 🍒 in the table. Bilbao and the big Spanish clubs are fairly settled too...I reckon Iraola will stay at Bournemouth beyond 2026.
The superstars is whoever is in charge of transfers. They've signed Huijsen/Kerkez/Semenyo/Ouattara etc. Whoever is the DOF deserves a big money move, hopefully to United.
And they have enough resources and should have enough squad depth to cover those extra games. It shows poor mentality to hide behind excuses for under performance.
@@ChrisJones-we4in Cheers captain obvious, think your missing the point. You say this like fans are the ones buying players... We all know and are desperate for that to change, but still doesn't change the state of play we're put in which is playing more frequently than Bournemouth. But hey, its spurs so you can go throw out whatever BS reply you want to try and bend over for likes...
@ Facts and excuses are different. The above is stating a fact. There is no excuse when looking at how Ange has decimated the squad and how the owners do fuck all to help the manager. P.S. Spurs in Europe: Playing 2 games a week Bournemouth not in Europe, playing 1 game a week The Athletic: "Wow aren't Bournemouth making a mockery of Spurs injury crisis, they are doing so well". Come on guys, do better.
Let's have some context here, Spurs have more resources than Bournemouth. Granted, they have higher expectations because they are a 'bigger' club or they think they are a bigger club.
Poor take, Spurs are part of “the big six” allegedly, they are supposed to be able to play 2 games a week and have been in the CL many times before. Bournemouth are punching way above their weight because of an amazing coach and a thin but balanced squad. If playing two games a week really was a huge impediment how have Liverpool and City been doing for years in a row and still remain successful? And would either of them ever drop to 15th because of it? Naw.
@@eddardtan4824 Bournemouth also have more outfielders aged 21+ than Spurs, who have foolishly loaded their squad with too many kids and not enough senior professionals for the size of their task and their style of play this season. Even without an injury crisis, Spurs would have been exhausted by now.
@@ldjc If football clubs have xGs, Bournemouth are clearly punching above theirs and Spurs below theirs. Not having a good enough backup to the 2 first choice centre-backs that are so crucial to the way Ange likes to set up is due to a combo of bad luck, bad planning by the club and bad management by Ange. Everyone saw the style of play could not be sustained and it added more and more stress on the rest of the squad. Me to Ange: sit your side back and counter. Defend better as a team, you might not win but you will lose less games.
maybe eddie howe but nuno and iraola styles doesnt suit the big teams where they have big budgets. iraola is too chaotic and has little control and nuno is too defensive.
Unai Emery wants identity as ‘Super Manager’…. overachieving is the word, but if you don't watch games maybe you do not understand that. He went to copa del rey semi finals with a 3rd division team when he was just starting as a manager.

Look at who bournemouth played in those first 9 matches last season. Thats why we only got a few points
Not many Bournemouth fans questioned the appointment. It was the so called expert pundits who said it was a terrible decision to replace Gary O'Neill.
Seeing how Tottenham treat their managers, a move to the club for Iraola would be a career suicide.
New training complex is going to be one of the best in the country not far away from completion and in process for a new stadium
A club will come in for Iraola very soon
Spurs played 15 games in the last 2 months, whereas Bournemouth played only 10. How on earth are they in the same situation?

Nuno has had tons of success, what are you talking about. Tottenham is the only exception
I'd honestly rather him at Chelsea than Maresca
Not his direct replacement, but Inigo Perez has been fantastic!
Rayo Vallecano are doing something similar to answer the last question
