I already started using this Alcatraz swing just today to try it out and was quite impressed at the suddenly jump up in the power level going 100 mph when I used the leverage.. It hits the ball incredibly flat with tight spin, or you can hit it more loopier with heavy spin. The Contact is also more cleaner you can feel the racquet throwing itself more through the ball with the edge of the racquet. Its good also with handling low balls in the court. It works also with the nadal reverse finish. You can really throw the racquet at the ball with this swing.
As opposed to say Djkovich who has the left hand up high but OUT FRONT. Meaning much less use of your core muscles and critically less momentum. Brilliant breakdown allowing us to see the body mechanics Coach. Thank you Steve. 🙂 💯
Hi Ray, I watched him practicing live in Spain in December, he is very special. You can see a clear difference in his speed and the speed of the ball. It's remarkable
Been trying to do his forehand for several months. For me if i dont do the elbow like him, there will be no time to hit at perfect contact point with straight arm.
Dear Simon! Thanks a lot for your videos, have to admit that I'm totally hooked and waiting for more 😊. I'm a 47yo absolutely committed to improve every aspect of my game. My current coach is a Davis Cup pro player and I've been very happy until I started to implement your advices. But I'm not sure how the online coaching works, how to get the videos, etc... I'm Spanish from Valencia but right now I'm posted in Venezuela till 2024 and cannot wait that much to pay you a visit in Barcelona (where I assume you are right now). I need your help first with my serve (I think I'm stuck and don't know how to increase the power), second with my two-handed backhand and last but not least my forehand...
Hi. I actually live between Valencia and Alicante. Although I'm in Italy and then Dubai for the summer. I would love to try and help. If you have WhatsApp. Send me a message and we can arrange a call. I'm on +34662501099 Have a great day Steve
When you watch how Fed hits a flat forehand, it's exactly what Alcaraz does. Elbow high and swing through the shot. Alcaraz was heavily influenced by Fed, in fact in interviews he says his game is like Fed than anyone else. He just took Fed's flat shot and made it his normal forehand.
Hi Wally, I think the differences in the stroke are dictated by the different grips. But I think over the next few years we are going to see tennis on an even higher level. I also believe if Federer were 18 years old, today and entering today's arena. He would also have played an even higher level. Do you see what I mean?
@@oneminutetennis I think certainly the grip has something to do with it. When I played with Eastern, semi western and Western hitting a flat shot meant shifting my weight forward as I went toward an eastern grip to close the racket face more. But the differences are not significant. The stroke is the same. I believe if Fed was even 10 years younger, he would completely dominate the sport as his neo backhand would be unstoppable. Just watch how he destroyed Nadal at 2017 Indian Wells. No one has had a more dominating performance with their backhand, no one. If he didn't have his health issues and played the French and US open with out the back injury, he might have completed the calendar slam that year. Alcaraz for all his gifts lack the variety that Fed plays with. He has not copied that part of Fed's game nor his backhand or serve which I think is just an average ATP serve. Until he does that, he could have a career like Del Potro.
I totally agree that Federer in 2017 was the best tennis I've ever seen. Especially at Indian Wells.. Incredible against Kyrios, Nadal etc. I don't for one second think Alcaraz is any where near the level of Federer right now. But I think he's going to be. I have a little inside knowledge here. I don't know him, but he lives near me and I've watched his practice and training at close hand.. His recovery speed and power from less than perfect positions are truly breathtaking. Time will tell if I'm right, but it'll be fun to see.
I don't see how his forehand can be better than Roger's forehand or even Nadals, both of which are so much more versatile, and just better all around. Nobody in sight can match Federers effortless power on the forehand, except maybe dimitrov, but still fed is on another level there. PS on the technical note alcatraz doesn't even reach table top position on his forehand, this is a fundamental difference between his and fed and rafa forehands, I'd say alcatraz forehand us more like delpos but with a more modern backswing
@@oneminutetennis Hi, thnx for the replay. Well tecquniqe wise his forehand is just not comparable to fed or Nadal, it's more like a delpo forehand (in the lack of table top position) which was still a formidable stroke that even fed admittedly feared most. But it was only cause delpo also combined the forehand with his serve, and that 1-2combo is crucial for maximizing a forehand potential.
Thanks!

Excellent point on the power position mix of the Modern Fh and the Next Gen Fh. Cheers man, from Ecuador.
Another great video...you had me laughing out loud with the "accidental elbow:
Accidents happen 😉
Those with straight-arm forehand are Federer, Nadal, Del-Potro, verdasco. Beautiful and powerful stroke.
I will love using the elbow the old way when I played football
Good plan....
Hope life is good in India
Thank you Coach. I try 🎾

Dude I'm with you 100%! Alcaraz Forehand is often unplayable, and by far the best on tour!

Great session

Near Denia perhaps?😜I used to go down there often when I lived in London .

It has nothing like Federer except straight arm at contact
