      @@40ny thanks for such a detailed response :) I work as QA and Software test in a large data migration project. I’m not looking to exit IT and bank on earning an income online. Originally, I just wanted to create a repository of expression. As I started to learn about blogging specifically, I felt pressure to do it “properly” and earn or else what’s the point, as many have told me. The point is just to write and share, I guess. It’d be nice to have the brain I do now but it be untainted by the societal pressures of monetizing any and everything as an adult .. let somethings just remain fulfilling regardless. Finally!!!!! This makes total sense.
    I’ve been agonising over this subject for literally 6 months trying to work out how on earth to “niche down” as I kept hearing about, but it just did not make any sense!
    The weird niche examples so many of those teaching how to start a blog gave, left me scratching my head on how quickly you would run out of ideas to write about.
    I’m a trained diabetes specialist nurse and my husband is a physio with his own business. We have years of professional experience and contacts. My personal passions are exercise and healthy living/eating with our 3 teen sons, helped from our professional experience. They all are so well interlinked for a broad niche with many sub niches.
    It was so difficult to pick only one small area of all of that to “niche down”, but now I don’t need to 🎉🎉

    I’ve created many successful niches in entertainment but I’m hungry for niche site. I’ve focused mainly on arbitraging which works perfectly for me as I’ve been in the game for years. But it’s crazy how it’s hard for me to have a niche site. Like you said there are many niches to choose from but I just don’t like niches I have no idea about. I’m a lil bit of SEO guy since I always do my own SEO myself and on of my site do get 80k traffic per day. Entertainment. Few mo the ahi I finally settled for a niche I’m actually passionate about and it’s Digital Entrepreneurship. Simply making money online is my hobby and it’s funny how I’ll just wake up in the middle of the night and started writing. Something I found it hard to do with my other blogs which I have to employ people to write for me. Thanks for this video. I think I’m going to do great with this niche I choose.

    This was recommended to me by the algo. Great insights, really appreciate you making this. I was able to help my family's food business go online in 2020 and did all the marketing, web design, videos, shipping logistics, etc around selling food products online. The first year was a big success. I don't feel like i'm an expert at all, but i definitely think I'd be able to steer beginners in the right direction. Plus I'm continuing to help run the biz 2 years later. Do you recommend pay walled video content/courses as a good monetization to blogs?

    • @AdamEnfroy
      @AdamEnfroy  2 года назад +8

      Courses can be a great revenue stream. However they have to be very high quality and solve and problem (for example, mine is 40+ hours and I hired blog coaches for 1:1 coaching). You should also have an existing audience in the niche visiting your site based on informational search intent. Or a consistent RUclips channel. I always recommend affiliate marketing as the first revenue stream because of this, with courses coming later.

      You need to stick to one broad niche - home, technology, fitness, health, etc. You can do multiple sub-niches inside of the niche. Like you can have a "home" blog and talk about furniture and kitchen gadgets, and potentially even gardening, but you can't have a home blog and also talk about software. The niche has to be thematically related so that your content and link profile show one clear, distinct business.

    Great channel Adam, happy to be a subscriber! Just wondering about creating the "best of" posts without actually trying out the product? Is that an okay thing to do? It just doesn't seem feasible to personally test everything, especially if your blog is new and a: you can't afford to purchase every product you write about, and b: no one wants to give it to you free of charge.

      This is a great question. Unfortunately, you're correct; most websites don't actually test every single product. They base it off of other reviews, information on the website, etc. One way to stand out is to do your best to try to really review a few. For example, if it's software, you can do a free trial. If it's a physical product it can be tough. I would just do your best and don't let it hold you back.

    What if you wanted to make a blog that focuses on delivering news stories and research over helping people by “how to guides”, lists, reviews etc. Would this be a waste of time with no hope of making money?

      Hi Sam, I believe it is what he stated in the video. The takeaway here is to create your content in way that doesn't limit you. Talk about delivering a news story on Climate Change. You could write about how an innovative company say, Tesla is pushing for mass production of EVs to cut down on CO2 emission. Indirectly, you've somewhat delved a little into the tech space which may probably land you some cool deals in the nearest future. The idea here is to not limit your blog but be versatile in your dealings.
      I hope this helps 😊.

    Do you think writing about special needs dogs would be successful? I have a lot of experience with deaf dogs, and they’re definitely a passion of mine.

      @@AdamEnfroy I had a similar question. instead of using our name, Could we design the blog around broad field or profession. For an example, a blog targeted towards entrepreneurs. This still gives the flexibility of pushing a variety of services and products that's appealing to entrepreneurs (from productivity software to office chair)? Also, Does having the seed keyword (entrepreneur) in the domain helps with google ranking?

    I am interested in starting a blog, but I don't really want to put myself personally out there, due to my current job. Is there a way of doing this and conceal my identity?

      Your employer doesn't have to know and frankly has no business concerning themselves with anything you want to build for yourself. I'd go for it. But you can create a site like "Tom's Guide" or "Nomadic Matt" where you don't use your full name.

    What is your exit strategy when you're using your own name in the domain?

    • @AdamEnfroy
      @AdamEnfroy  2 года назад +4

      I don't plan to exit as revenue is infinitely scalable over time building your own brand for yourself. I actually talked with the founder of Flippa and he said that personal name sites can still be sold. If you're worried about it, you can create something like AdamsAdvice.com (like TomsGuide).
      But like I've said in other videos, most people think about exiting before making any money so don't put the cart before the horse. :)
