Thanks for sharing this wonderful song.
On this day in 1965 {December 6th} Nancy Sinatra performed "So Long Babe" on the NBC-TV evening-time popular music program, 'Hullabaloo'... Two months earlier on October 10th the song entered Billboard's Top 100 chart at position #98, the following week it was at #93, for it's third week it was at #92, and then on it's fourth and final week on the chart it peaked at #86... Between 1965 and 1969 she charted twenty-one times on the Top 100, four made the Top 10 with two reaching #1, "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" for one week on February 29th, 1965 and "Somethin' Stupid", a duet with father Frank, for four weeks on April 9th, 1967... Besides her two #1 records, her two other Top 10 records were "How Does That Grab You, Darlin'?" {#7 for 2 weeks in 1966} and "Sugar Town" {#5 for 3 weeks in 1966}... Four of her twenty-one charted records were duets with Lee Hazelwood; "Summer Wine" {#49 in 1967}, "Jackson" {#14 in 1967}, "Lady Bird" {#20 in 1957}, and "Some Velvet Morning" {#26 in 1968}... Nancy Sandra Sinatra will celebrate her 78th birthday come next June 8th {2018}...
SO LONG BABE I know you're leavin' babe, Goodbye, so long. I hope someday somebody Listens to your song. Those bright lights never ever Spell your name it's true. Maybe a change of scene Will be the best for you. So long babe, so long babe, So long babe, so long babe So long babe I know you're leavin' babe, Goodbye, so long. Pick up the pieces And go back where you belong. You gave them all you had And what did they give you? Well they gave you nothin' babe So give 'em nothin' too. So long babe, so long babe, so long babe So long babe, so long babe, so long babe, So long babe. I know you're leavin' babe, Goodbye and so long. You never made it babe, I wonder what went wrong. They never understood your songs, Here's what you do Just walk away and leave 'em, And let 'em come to you. So long babe, so long babe, Yeah so long babe, so long babe So long babe, so long babe, So long babe So long babe, Ah so long babe So long babe Mmm So long babe
Her record version is better, here she is singing to her track background and maybe couldn't hear herself very well - she's a little flat here and there, but on the record she sounds fine - I don't know why they just didn't have her lip-sych to her recording.
If I remember correctly, she was divorced from singer Tommy Sands at the time, and she was devastated. Very fortunate that she was able to bounce back by changing her image and had a string of hits penned by Lee Hazelwood. I always wondered if So Long Babe, Boots, and How Does that Grab You were aimed at her ex, and cathartic for her when Boots went #1.
Bull, Nancy be hundreds of times better than her Daddy ever could be. Elvis easily outdid Frank Sinatra, but no one ever came even close to being the performer Nancy Sinatra was. To each his own, Hon, and I am not open to debate or argumant, so please...

SO LONG BABE
I know you're leavin' babe,
Goodbye, so long.
I hope someday somebody
Listens to your song.
Those bright lights never ever
Spell your name it's true.
Maybe a change of scene
Will be the best for you.
So long babe, so long babe,
So long babe, so long babe
So long babe
I know you're leavin' babe,
Goodbye, so long.
Pick up the pieces
And go back where you belong.
You gave them all you had
And what did they give you?
Well they gave you nothin' babe
So give 'em nothin' too.
So long babe, so long babe, so long babe
So long babe, so long babe, so long babe,
So long babe.
I know you're leavin' babe,
Goodbye and so long.
You never made it babe,
I wonder what went wrong.
They never understood your songs,
Here's what you do
Just walk away and leave 'em,
And let 'em come to you.
So long babe, so long babe,
Yeah so long babe, so long babe
So long babe, so long babe,
So long babe
So long babe,
Ah so long babe
So long babe
Mmm So long babe
muy bueno como usaba ya en ese tiempo mirar a la camara...eso era muy transgresor y una adelantada de la epoca
Classy pant suit.
Géant :-)
Funny Song :) i like '60
Нэнси клёвая!
Cantora bem talentosa, ritmo gostoso. Parabéns.
I think there is another ,better version of this song where she is singing instead of talk-singing.
must be an early recording before the blond hair happened
Great video. Funny how boys danced around girl stars :) ?
why did every other record released in 1965 end with the word "Babe"?
Bob Dylan made it cool.
Because of Dylan. He had that song out called It ain t me babe
It was great
@@waynejohanson1083 And Sonny and Cher had I Got You Babe, which was a #1 record.
"Nancy with the laughing face"
those four guys are fucking awesome, they make it so much better

This song... Frankly, the lyrics and delivery make me shudder. Is she being sympathetic or just rubbing salt in the wound? I'm never quite sure.
