Ohhhhh, I wish I had seen this video a month ago. I made antlers out of foam board for a project, but they aren't curved. I like the curved! Also, I used a glue gun to make the grooves & bumps before painting. That seemed to make it more realistic. Thanks for the video!
I’ve seen (and wanted) a centre light shade that was made out of antlers and it was sooo expensive. Ikea did do a circle frame for candles, a bit olde worlds baronial dining hall style, that would be a great base. Thank you for your great ideas, lots of inspiration.
This is wonderful. You are very patient. The antlers look very realistic, well done. I’ve watched the bronze deer head video and i think your outcome was the best choice, it looked more natural and realistic. Thanks for sharing 👍😊❤️
just in the process of finishing the pattern for this deer. i taped floral wire around the antlers before i'm put the foil on, and i think i may also tape wire through the head and onto each antler. but instead of 'adult' antlers, thought it might be fun to do the velvet on the antlers. i did look for flocking powder but apparently the only flocking people do now is on fake fingernails, so i think i'll resort to my pantry. cocoa powder or cinnamon, and maybe a touch of black mica powder to darken it up. will do some experiments with flat spray varathane so i don't leave a trail of brown everywhere!
Hi, I wanted to say I really admire your work. I’ve been binging your videos the past couple of days. I plan I’m purchasing one of your books in a couple of months and try my hand at paper mache. I work full time as a medical biller but dream of being an artist. I feel like anyone able to do it full time is living the dream haha. I’m afraid I’ll have to wait till I’m retired though to do it. Anyway please keep up the great work!
Thanks, Jessica. My last job was customer service person at a health insurance company. That's when I started building websites in my spare time so I could "retire" in 2006. I built affiliate sites to start with, but this particular channel and my paper mache blog were started just for fun, with no expectation that it would ever support me. If you have a few hours a week to create, there's no reason to wait. In fact, making stuff is the best thing to do when you have a boring or stressful job. Go for it!
What a great piece of artwork 👍really impressed May I ask if I can put this in the garden or it just be hanging indoor Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful work
You can't put it outside if you cover it with paper mache. However, you could easily turn it into garden art by using an epoxy clay instead. The one that I like best when applying a thin layer is the Smooth-On product called Free Form Sculpt. amzn.to/2u4JjZJ I've also seen a few good reviews about a new product that I haven't yet used, called Lab X. I intend to order some myself to see if I like it, because it's a lot less expensive than Free Form Sculpt or Apoxie sculpt. All of them are waterproof.
If you made a paper mache mask but it isn't strong enough, you might be able to cut some cardboard to glue inside. It wouldn't be easy, though. Have you tried just adding more layers of paper and paste?
I don't have a video for that. Each one takes me at least a month, starting with a clay sculpture. It would be a boring video that would only interest a very small number of people, but even the video would take many hours of my time. So, no - I have no plans to do that in the future.
Hi, I really love your video and how you're able to make things look so realistic. I'm writing a young adult fantasy novel and want to cosplay my characters. The only thing is, I need to make a sword and dagger that's unique in design and I'm very limited on budget. So I was wondering how what you make a sword and dagger out of paper mache, but make it durable and realistic? (I plan to film and book trailer, that's why I need them realistic). Thank you.
I don't think I'm the right person to ask because I don't make theater props or cosplay costumes, but this guy might have the answer for you: ruclips.net/video/YkhHKymcJR0/видео.html
I keep my favorites, and give away the rest. I don't sell them - I just show other people how to make their own. But yeah, it does get a little crowded sometimes. :)
@@UltimatePaperMache you give them away? do you still have the turtle you made some months ago or planning to do another one (a sea turtle for my wall please? From your Portuguese friend ;) ;) ;)
@@machepte7665 The little turtle was made especially for a little boy, because his parents had just bought my house and I wanted to have something special to welcome him to his new home. A sea turtle would be fun - but shipping it to Portugal would not be fun at all. I'll put it on my list, and see if I can come up with a good pattern so you can make your own. :)
The instructions are on the pattern - it's much easier to follow the written instructions with the still photos, so I don't tape video of the whole process.
BTW...the antler technique is perfect!
I would absolutely LOVE to see a bronzed version of your deer head.
Great. I'll check the price for the bronze coating.

The hot glue is a great idea. Thanks for that. And you can always make another one, :)
You are a gift to the art & craft world. Love all your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge & gifts!!!!

I would love to see the bronzing process... And amazing job.
I just ordered some bronze coating from Sculpt Nouveau, and it should get here next week. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
Really beautiful, inspiring
Thanks, Donna.

What would you suggest if the mask is first made out of paper. How would your reinforce with cardboard before you paper Machee it ?

Great !!! J’adore !
Would a comb work to make lines on the antlers
Yes, that would probably work better, because the silicone brush is so soft. But I just bought the thing and I had to try it out. :)
Ultimate Paper Mache you can get baby comb which has the teeth closer
Gorgeous! What happens with all the critters? Whom do you sell them to or do you live among them like a cat lady with critter-clutter? 😊♥️

So aluminium foil is used for the details?
Yes, I used it for the fur in the ears and to fill out the antlers. and behind the eyes so the lids look more realistic.
cool
❤
Bronzed deer, please!!
I did try it, and I have a video. I'm still not entirely sure if I like it, though. You can see it here: ruclips.net/video/uGhO3pm62L4/видео.html
What about that bumpy part at the base of antlers?
Cleocatastic's idea of using hot glue would work for that, too.
Buenas tardes es muy bonito pero no veo como la hizo sólo el terminado gracias desde colombia
All the detailed instructions come with the pattern. You can find it here: www.ultimatepapermache.com/diy-deer-head
Briliant,
Please send your book for me??
Como hago para obtener los mpldes
You can find all of my patterns here: www.ultimatepapermache.com/patterns - thanks for askin! :)
I think of the hears is too back
U didn't show how to make it
The instructions are on the pattern - it's much easier to follow the written instructions with the still photos, so I don't tape video of the whole process.
