After the death of her first husband Jocasta remarried to her second Cameron husband, they had one daughter but he died during a hunting trip, leaving Jocasta widowed again.
jocasta is Ellen (jamies's mother)'s sister and has loved Murtagh from for decades, knowing that he was always in love with another.
Murtagh is Jamie’s godfather and he was in love with his mother Ellen. He has been hiding out in the New World as a rebel.
In season four the pair came together, uniting a couple that were never united in the books.
Luckenbooth pendant
The moment is especially bittersweet because Jocasta is wearing the Luckenbooth pendant that Murtagh gave her before they broke up for good. "He was as stubborn as your father," she remarks to Jamie, before adding, "he was loyal above all.
Jocasta ultimately ends up marrying Duncan Innes, in order to protect her estate, Murtagh asked Jocasta to wait for him knowing that it was too late for her to stop the wedding. So neither of them could get their happy ending.

We all loved Murtagh & Jocasta, portrayed brilliantly by Duncan Lacroix & Maria Doyle Kennedy, their story was indeed tragic, as two beautifully suited characters should not be together because of Murtagh’s determined belief that he should fight the British Red Coats and their crippling taxes, thus ending in his untimely death! to Jamie’s disbelief and horror, as Murtagh died in Jamie’s arms and he was filled with uncontrollable grief! (Brilliantly performed by Sam Heughan) in this extraordinary time traveling fantasy love story series ‘Outlander’”great edit, thanks 🙏 for sharing “👌”

Guys I'm kind of confused. Didn't Murtagh love Ellen Jamie's mom ? So why the tv show made murtagh and jocasta have an affair ? Did he really love jocasta or ellen ?

Both. Ellen when they were young and now Jocasta who shares so many memories of Scotland.
