Thank you for sharing. This video allowed me to make the same setup work but with electrical tape instead of a sleave and a plastic washer instead of metal. Doing the electrical tape you don't have to disassemble the whole gun but only time will tell if it holds up. Thank you!
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I hadn't thought of just using tape on the Slide Tube directly. And I'm glad to see you used a plastic retention washer. I would think it would be much easier to make. But as you say, only time will tell. Don't forget to like, share and subscribe. I have a Mossberg 500CG 20 ga. I changed the stock to an ATI tactical. I want to add the Bayco SFL-11GL Polymer Shotgun Forend for Mossberg 500/590/590A1/Shockwave with White Light & Green Laser. I have the 18.5 inch barrel on it for home defense. The plastic on plastic retention ring makes sense. The tape just seems to be asking for future degradation and having to go back and wrap and tape it again. Is the tape a must if the wall thickness was increased on the tube or is tape or friction tape still a good add? Has any aftermarket company started to produce the conversion kits? Also do you see any advantage of breaking out the green laser like you have instead of the bayco combo? Thanks. You are informative and precise, liked and subscribed.
That's a good question about the need for the tape. In terms of function, with the retention ring in place I don't think the tape on the tube is important. But because the tube I used was white, the black tape was a quick solution. What I also found was that it seemed to firm things up a bit. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I'm not sure without disassembling the gun. I added just enough tape to allow for a firm, but not too tight telescoping into the Racker itself. Thanks for watching. If you haven't already, I hope you'll check out my other "Mick Mac" Tabletop Review videos on RUclips.
@@mickmacstabletopreviews8466 I picked up the StreamLight forend for my 870 20 gauge. This one, the tube is completely enclosed. I am having my son 3D print the sleeve with attached washer. Might do a two piece Sleeve with a washer at both ends. Not sure yet.
Getting ready to give this a go. A question.... Do you consider this a Mod (sleeve & ring) a perm fix for the Streamlight unit and not needing to be removed again during normal disassembly? Thanks for your work on this I really want this light on my Shockwave 20ga.
I believe so, but it certainly would be easy to remove and reinstalled if needed. Shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for watching and if you haven't already, I hope you'll check out my other "Mick Mac" Tabletop Review videos on RUclips.
That's a good question. You'd think they would at least supply a conversion kit similar to what I suggest in this video. What would it cost them? $2.00, if even that? I have the 12gauge 18inch barrel shockwave and I seem to need to do the same thing you've done with your 20gauge. Fitment is absolutely horrible and it's supposed to fit the 12gauge.......I'm not impressed with the one I got
Interesting. I wonder if your unit is defective. Although there will be the same amount of action movement with the Streamlight Racker as the original fore end, it should be as firmly attached. If it wants to drop free or slide forward off the gun, there is definitely something wrong. There should be no reason to modify attachment for a 12 GA Shockwave. Thanks for watching. @@mickmacstabletopreviews8466 I'm returning this one and I have another one coming. Hopefully mine is just defective in some way. Thanks for the reply 🙏
I've been searching for this!! Thanks

Hey did you ever finish this how is it holding up?

Thank you for sharing. Question what is the outside diameter of the pipe after you placed the tape on it?

@@mickmacstabletopreviews8466 Great Thanks again!
Why won't the company just make a 20 gauge version..there's obviously a want and a need for them.
