    It's finally here!
    I never planned to take a 13 month break between videos in this miniseries, but I was busy with the End of 2022 video, didn't have time to produce such a massive project back in the Spring, and wanted to get on a consistently monthly schedule this summer (and maybe for the rest of the year too...)
    I hope y'all enjoy and welcome to this new era of NICKtendo! It's a lot like the last era of NICKtendo but with more bwomp sound effects.

Heck, that brief scene with Vicky as Jigsaw even uses the same statis audio sound effect done between confessional scenes! 1-Make it so only kids who are aware of fairies and other magical creatures can understand him. Everyone else only hears barks.
    2-Limit his powers to things that make sense for a pet. Give him an Omni awareness of when Timmy is sad, lonely or in danger. Give him magically enhanced tracking abilities that let him find people anywhere. Stuff like that.

      Makes sense to me. Limiting Sparky to pet magic, especially the “sensitive to emotions and has heightened senses” is an especially neat idea.
      (Rest of comment are rambling about changes I’d make)
      The changes to the character I have planned for the hypothetical reboot are slightly different than limiting people understanding Sparky. I think Nicktendo is right about making her a girl dog, though in honor of her VA, I’m making her a trans dog. I’m also changing her to be not like any other fairy pets. She wasn’t born magical or sentient, but had both thrust upon her when her original owner met Norm and wished she was magic. She wouldn’t be able to talk unless her new owner wished she could talk and it takes a while for Chloe to realize that the dog’s even magic. Also yeah, instead of being Timmy’s dog, I’m giving her to Chloe. Sparky’s absentee tendencies allow for that to be the reason Chloe shares fairies with Timmy when you want to write them into the episode, otherwise they’re off doing their own thing and not disrupting the dynamic of the show.

    Honestly I think Chloe could have actually worked if they would have tried to do focus more on her flaws and try to develop her more as a character. I think the flanderization of the characters as a whole and the show being less willing to try to do something serious in the later seasons kind of ruined most of the potential she had. Part of the reason I still think FOP is my favorite Nicktoon is because of its more emotional moments so I wish they would have attempted to do something more serious with her. Also that episode where they teamed up really reminded me of Jimmy and Timmy in the The Jerkinators.

    • @KremBotop
      @KremBotop Год назад +13

      Yeah, after seeing the video (having not seen S10, last one I saw was 8) I agree that Chloe had potential to be more fleshed out and become a fan favorite. It might've worked out if she was introduced much sooner during the show's S3-4 prime, or even 5-6. Her design is quite memorable and cutesy (I like how she also has messed up teeth just like Timmy but in her own style) and given her VA's skills, she could've been better received if she was given the right material to work with. Heck, I even think Sparky could've also worked to an extent if his appearances were more sporadic, didn't break Crocker's backstory and if he didn't speak, as Nick mentioned. Silent comedy can also grant some great results, and FOP has even pulled that off at one point in an earlier episode. Overall, I'm surprised S9-10 had some things going for despite their infamous reputation. Things might've not ended that tragically if it wasn't for those last 7 episodes.

    • @ap7635
      @ap7635 Год назад +12

      I feel like Chloe as a character could have worked if they actually treated her like a new character. But after her introduction she's largely treated as if she's been there the whole time. There's not that many episodes where she's introduced to side characters we know, but the ones that do exist are kind of good. Because having her interact with characters who don't already know her gives the writers a chance to expand on her personality. I liked the one where she met Catman for the first time (even if it's depressing how little Timmy seems to care for the man all of a sudden). They could've done more of that if they didn't introduce her to basically everyone in her introduction. They could've had an episode of Tootie being jealous of her. Or Remi showing up to meet the new godchild. Or Vicky specifically focusing on trying to break her overwhelming optimism. But they didn't really go that route which sort of wastes the benefits of adding a new character in the first place.

    I noticed things weren’t the same anymore. The continuity was messed up now that Crocker’s backstory was changed.

      I enjoyed seasons 6-8 when I was still younger at the time. Poof was a fine addition, and the rest of the episodes were mostly just your typical Fairly OddParents shtick. But Season 9 was the moment when my kid-self thought, yeah this series sucks now. Season 10 especially was the straw that broke the camel’s back for me, and I stopped watching it after they introduced Chloe.

When everybody else talks about the newer seasons, the movies, or the live action reboot, they always have the same negative attitude and opinion. You clearly have done your research and I really appreciate you still managing to find genuine positives. Good to know that at least the ideas of some talented crew members manage to shine through, even if overshadowed by an overall disappointing season.
    While I haven't exactly gotten around to season 10 yet, majority of what I've heard about Chloe seemed to be immediately writing her off as a Mary Sue, it's interesting to see a perspective of her that isn't just completely ragging on her.
    Also as someone who loves Crocker as a character, you did sell me on the live action movies that I was otherwise going to pass on.

    This was a good series. Both yours and FOP. I think FOP is very flawed, but nonetheless a very good show and part of animation history. It earned it's spot, even if it went on a bit long. I'm also glad you've hit your stride here. These videos were wonderful, thoughtful analysis of the show as a whole, and brought me back to my childhood. I was always more of a SpongeBob kid, but watching this made me realize how much FOP being next to it was still a big deal. I remembered almost all of this stuff. It makes me very nostalgic. Maybe these longer videos are good for you, I felt more of a connection here. Feels very thoughtful. Thanks for the ride back to the past and here again.

      "Instead of adding random characters for the sake of adding random characters, we will add random characters with different skin tones for the sake of adding random characters."
      NO. Weve seen this road before. And, seeing Butch's appeal to the goddamn hays code om OAXIS, you know for damn sure we would have gotten another Jk Rowling instead of a Rick Riordan. At least with OAXIS everyone could agree that was stupid without getting into total flame wars. Could you imagine the toxic arguments that would have started had HE been the one to appeal to diversity before pulling that shit? He would have ruined the legacy of not just FoP, but Danny phantom as well, turning the discussions around both into a controversy ridden cesspit, instead of the far more healthy conclusions about both shows' downward quality we have about it now.
      The best way to have dealt with FOP was to kill it, maybe after channel chasers, maybe after wishology even, and start focusing on new things. As he also said, the cast and focus was basically entirely different by Season 9. The least you could have done was make it official. Give it a new name/main characters, and have a fresh slate where you can have all the changes people were looking for without having to deal with people who have known the show for years trying to figure out what to blame for the series downfall and going online for an answer only to be exposed to *that* mess. At least if butch screwed up that theoretical new show instead people could have just called him a hack sooner, be glad that FOP didnt get the same fate and moved on. This was the second best outcome.

    Honestly, Sparky couldve been such a good character if he was implemented better. A Fairy dog is such an interesting concept and was honestly a logical next step for Timmy. It would have also been interesting to see a different kind of magic specifically for fairy animals or stuff like that (cause when i first heard of fairy pets, i thought 'wouldn't it be interesting if they came closer to emotional support animals, since troubled kids only really get access to them. They would probably also be easier to care for since they're magic, right?'). I was also interested in how Sparky would factor in when Timmy outgrows his Fairies. Would he return Sparky? Sparky was clearly owned by adults as well. How does that work? This whole thing just makes me want to make my own fairy animal lore.
    It also frustrates me, because with all the additions to the cast (Poof, Sparky, Chloe), the dominos were being set up for Timmy to grow. However only some were toppled and then in later seasons they were just removed entirely.

    I think TFO died when they no longer made the story about a kid who wasn't able to share much time with his parents, bullied by his teacher a couple of playmates and principal, and thrown around unjustly simply for existing from his baby sitter. Yes, the fairly odd parents was Timmy centric and the second they broke that rule it was no longer about a depressed kid trying to cope with harsh realities or how he fears coming to terms with reality as he grows up without any support or wanting to do better for his children and fears all intimate relations because he fears being his parents.

    I honestly thought you werent gonna continue, but here we finally are at very long last! I honestly missed this show (not the live action nor the newer characters with *some* gulity pleasures) but I said this before, I'll day It again that Channel Chaders will *always* be the true official ending of the franchise and despite Butch reckonning everything In the series and did something Logan himself did years later of not hiving a crap of his own characters and storylines. Plus the fact the man himself always claiming that Danny Phantom Is the best biggest thing he ever created when he barely uses him at all except for his thumbnails and other clickbaits and makes me wonder If he was gonna revived the series but Infinity times worst with It's worster storylines, newer, characters, and etc. Even In an an alternative timeline If Danny Phantom was In Fairly Odd Parents' place getting screwed over these days what honest difference would It still made.
    Even with the newer reboot coming really soon down the road don't be too surprised there gonna go more "woke" this time around -because we all know thos3 previous other shows and reboot did "so well"- I honestly still want to give It a chance, and who knows hope some of the new actors/actress from Glitch Techs can even help out pick up and fix the series. Don't still except for Timmy to return anytime soon -beside smaller and and briefer cameos- but but between you and me I honestly don't blame him after what he's been through and who onoes; he'll might reunite with Jimmy, Danny, and Spongebob In a certain -All-Star- "Brawl" but hey that's "wishful" thinking.
