Good to see you recorded these final minutes too. It's always sad to see a radio station closing down, and even more when we know that RTBF International and RTBF Vivacité closed down during the same night. 73s, Lucas
So, the transmitter was shut down 3 days after regular GNR programming stopped, on Jan 3, 2019, and it took them only 6 more days to blow up the masts... Watch on your own risk: www.omroepflevoland.nl/nieuws/167123/live-zendmasten-worden-opgeblazen
Thank you so much, you recorded a healthy chunk, as well as told why it happened (you forgot the petition in 2017 for 1 year extension), most people including myself would probably forget why it had to shutdown also they had its MW license until 2020 so they would had to shutdown or lower their power someday but :( its interesting why nobody had driven to Zeewolde and flipped the switch at 1 AM
Thank you for your insight, yep, it's quite remarkable that they managed to get that extension in these times when MW is considered obsolete and everyone would just dismantle (or, rather, blow up) the masts and allow the too valuable land to be redeveloped for something more "valuable". I've updated the description with info about the petition. Thanks again! 73 :) PS. I wonder if they've heard of LPAM licences at Groot Nieuws Radio ;)
Its gone now :( 3.1.2019 21:29 UTC loop has ended, MercyMe - Word Of God Speak has started (recording is on MWList if someone wants to hear) "I'm finding myself in the midst of You Beyond the music, beyond the noise ---- AM All that I need is to be with You --- GrootNieuws Radio And in the quiet hear Your voice" 3.1.2019 21:33 UTC blank carrier 3.1.2019 22:57 UTC someone drove to Zeewolde and shutdown the transmitter You know what ironic? when Radio Maria on 675khz Transmitter at Lopik had shutdown at September 2015 they broadcasted from the roof to keep the license, maybe GrootNeuws radio could do the same and then switch to LPAM at 2020 and Radio Maria is a crappy station compared to GrootNeuws radio
@@Veso266 Veso266 Yep, it did. I've tried to record it at home too but the battery in my XHDATA portable died at the "right" moment 😢 "and in the quiet hear Your voice" - for most of us these voices come from New York and Toronto now xD BTW is actually Radio Maria still on air from anywhere on AM? That roof (or rather church spire) couldn't give them a lot of coverage, couldn't it?
I tried to record GrootNieuws from my home in Slovenia (it was the only station on MW (besides RTL on 1440KHz; remember when try prepaired everything for shutdown at 31 December and then their timer had failed and the transmitter had turn itself on the next day?)) that was good) but my AM recording equipment (lost a cable and could not buy one as everything was closed) had died a week before new year :(, Murphy's law makes it happen don't know about Radio Maria (MWList says its not up anymore) I read this at MWInfo, was never able to recieve it anyway as its low-power (well I can get to much of this crap on FM anyway and it drives me crazy) I am pretty sceptical if any Good AM station will come with high power to be heard across europe on MW I am afraid that everything will die and we will be left alone on MW and LW
@@Veso266 oh, Slovenian stations, those that remain on air, are actually doing pretty well across most of Europe with just 10 kW :) take Murski Val as an example, they still put an excellent signal into here in Poland, as well as into Twente WebSDR, and are able to spoil the fun of catching Caroline in the UK. And on the other hand, I'm able to hear Studio Denakker on 1395, sometimes even on a portable, despite they have a 100-watt transmitter only. Sometimes it's remarkable how much coverage you can achieve with little power, provided a listener doesn't suffer from high noise floor :P but agreed, the big signal the 100kW beast had been putting across the continent on 1008 will be missed :( Did RTL turn on the next day? I don't think I've heard about it happened to Marnach tx, but I do remember a similar issue on Donebach LW transmitter - Deutschlandfunk stopped broadcasting from there on 153 kHz on Dec 31, 2014, but on Jan 1, 2015 at 5am, timer turned the transmitter on again. It usually just increased the power back from 250kW to daytime 500kW, but this time it worked even better ;)
