- This is my version of a TOTAL Closet Clean out + Organize it is part of my Reset Routine. I share with you my best tips to declutter and organize any Closets on a budget ( I only used what i had and bought nothing else!!) this is part of my Jewish home refresh as an Orthodox Jewish Woman. I have included so many tips to make any closet look much more put together, clean and organized!

(And, FTR, I live my life by the 85% rule: I exercise, 85% of the time, I eat healthy, 85% of the time, and I'm "nice"...85% of the time--the remaining 15% you wouldn't want to know me! (sometimes, I don't want to know me!) No one is perfect and life balance is important. Just a little perspective from a 70 year old😊)

I lost my sister a couple years ago. This is the type of thing we would do together. She’s resting in the arms of God But He has given me a fun new friend to share time with. We are devout Catholics. My faith deeply rooted in Jewish teaching. We consider you brothers and sisters in faith. I wish our community was as reverent as yours enjoying the peace that modesty brings. So many problems can be solved with this simple way. I will include you and your family in my prayers! Thank you for sharing your beautiful devotion to our God.

I have suffered from depression my whole life. I was at a very low point recently. I am a relatively young grandmother and great grandmother, But my daughter lives far away, and my son and his family are moving in a week or so. I was watching one of your segments the other day, and when you ended the segment you always say "you are loved and you are enough just the way you are", my spirit lifted and my sadness went away. Maybe not forever, but for that day. Thank you...........

Oh, Sara, I had no idea you're an ICU doc. My husband had sepsis a few ears back and spent some time in ICU... I never encountered a better group of people, profoundly devoted, so kind even in the hardest moments. I have a whole new level of respect for you; how you come home after that to young kids and everything you do just amazes me.
Also, the finished closet is *gorgeous*... I'm inspired! And I would love to see a video about modest dressing. Lots of thanks!

I wish I had the energy to do just a quarter of the things this Amazing lady does! I'm dealing with anemia, having to get IV iron and I don't feel well a lot. I'm in the process of converting to Catholicism and I understand the peace the morning prayer and times you take to communicate with God are so important. I love starting my week with Sara and this community. I have one stuffed closet, but the vacuuming and wiping has inspired me for the rest of week. One per day, and the deep clean will be accomplished.

Yes, I have crazy things in my closet - a mystery box with old newspaper articles I thought needed to be saved. I loved when you used the word "triaging" the clothes. I certainly understand that being a nurse. Thanks Sara for this video. We are having our hardwood floors refinished right now and it is time to clean out my closet too. I love a fresh start.

I love a fresh start. Also to hear the method to your closet madness. When I hit the date to stop wearing heels and skirts/dresses I removed 48 prs of shoes 8 pair high dress boots and many suede coats and jackets. I have no memory of how many dresses/skirts but my closet looked so forlorn and empty I couldn't look at it for a few days! I filled my minivan with all those things. My husband went with me as part of our negotiation to clear the closet. He unloaded everything in the van as fast as the store crew could take it. The store didn't know it was my trove. As I walked past the main desk I heard one of the managers tell a friend on the phone that a lot of very high end beautiful clothes were coming in and she should get here right away. The fact that other much younger women valued what I gave up made it so worthwhile. And I never missed any of it because it went to homes where it would be valued. For boots, which I still wear, use pool noodles cut to length and maybe doubled by hot gluing together in the calf area. I keep the boots together and upright by using scrunchies that I get at resale stores.

This was a delight! Clothes triage!!!Lol! As a retired OR nurse that really tickled me. Thank you for this content, including dust bunnies and bumping into that picture frame on the wall. You are so real and I love hearing your voice which is very calming. I have two closets, which I switch out…Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter. When the weather finally changes consistently I go through and do a purge and arrange the appropriate season in my bedroom closet(storing the other in my guest room closet). I also like to arrange my clothes by color. 😊
It’s not destroying the walls. It’s giving you a reason to repaint the walls.

I want to repaint the master bedroom to a very light blue-green instead of the white it’s been since we moved in 17 years ago, and my husband agrees with the color. Do NOT give me any more ideas!!!!

Shalom! You did such a great job! Congratulations! After dusting your closet shelves, you can top them with a pretty fabric so next time you dust you can just wash the fabric. To keep moths down, you can find those cedar rectangle things on hanger hooks between the type of garments to organize. Write "skirts" etc. on the side of the cedar with a sharpie. Pretty scented soaps in organza baggies on these things smell nice. Hope I was helpful. 😊😊😊
We must be distant relatives...Lavender, hand me downs, 3 bins, black clothing, same hangers...the closest looks fabulous. I love a fresh start!

I love a fresh start! I am so motivated to refresh my own closet because so many clothes no longer fit me as well. While we may plan to lose weight and wear again the clothes we love I think keeping them in the closet where you see them on a daily basis can definitely contribute to negative self talk about a body that still manages to love and care for those around you. I also hated seeing all the clothes I grew out of in the last couple years. Especially jeans, which can be so expensive and it hurts to get rid of them. But I feel so much better having cleaned everything out, knowing everything fits and my old clothes are now donated and being loved by someone else

I love a fresh start, and I can totally relate to the need to clean out your closet. I've also gone up a couple sizes in the last few years, and had started going through one category at a time to sort out what still fit, but I never got around to doing winter clothes 😅 You've encouraged me to finish this exercise and actually remove the items I can't currently wear!

I had those sliding doors on my closet. I got SO frustrated with them coming off track, I just took them off and threw them away! Doesn’t look great, but no more irritating doors!!

Have lost my hair to chemo and it never grew back. Wigs are so hot in summer in Texas that a simpler way to cover my sad balding head would be nice. I love a fresh start! I loved this video too. I know it’s quite old,but I only found your channel a few weeks ago so I’m trying to watch some older videos aswell as the recent ones. You made me laugh out loud with your comments when you were taking out the doors ! I thought you did a great job, the closet was SO tidy at the end. Like you I line up my clothes by colour, mostly black, navy and grey with a few pink tops. (You don’t have to think too hard about what to wear if you only have a few colours to choose from!) I use lavender sachets in my wardrobe and drawers. I think I was told as a child (a long time ago) that it helped keep away moths, but I just love the lavender smell! Thank you so much for putting together your channel (I have no idea where you find the time) so cheery, motivating and friendly. Always pleasure to watch. I like all aspects of it. The cooking, the organising and also especially interesting your orthodox faith. It has inspired me to try and pray more and be grateful for what God has given me. I love a fresh start! ❤ (and I love all of your videos!!) I did a huge closet clean out a few months ago to give clothes to a woman whose house burned down who was my size. I donated 3 big contractor size trash bags at that time. However, I still need to look at downsizing my closet in general. Everything fits, and is in good condition, but it doesn’t fit my life as someone who works from home now! 😊

Letting go of the shoes was a great charity. Not just the physical shoes but letting go of any resentment or feeling of unfairness you had in the beginning. The person who has them next will be blessed while wearing them.

Hi Sara, The closet looks beautiful, I have a fun hint on how to keep boots standing up so they don't crack or fall over. Take a pool noodle and cut it the height of your boot. That's it , No need to zip them or anything. I use them in all my boots and they look brand new plus pretty in the closet
I have never thought of hanging my skirts like that! What a great idea, Thanks!! I have a tendency to purchase items that are brown & grey; only have a few black items. I'm impressed!! We are planning to paint our bedroom which means I will need to reorganize my closet! Right now, I look at my closet & cringe!! And yes, I do LOVE a fresh start!!

Not Jewish but I love your videos. I’m actually a wild, liberal feminist and these videos help me understand that allowing women to live the life they want is key- even if it’s not the life we would want.

What a good idea as I stare at my closet. I liked that you removed the doors. I can't go to bed if my closet doors aren't closed how silly. I Have never realized that until now. If I take them off I know I will clean the closet. Your system of making the piles and not overthrowing it is great!

Actually placing a lavender plant in your closet and around your home helps keep bugs away and also rosemary is another good plant to have around.

"I love a fresh start." I tend to dress in blue or black to out of house events. Because I'm retired, I tend to dress in comfortable house clothes, that I am able to fold and put in my dresser. It also allows me to use my favorite colors, red and white, via my tee-shirts! A recent move helped me sort through clothes I wore to work and ones that I never wore and donate them. I feel so much better having kept only what I will wear.

I would not put my best fancy clothes next to boots or a bin unless I was assured there were no rough edges that could possibly ruin my clothing. I would put them to the right side of closet.
Since I served in the military in both the Army and Navy, all of my clothes must face left. I have no skirts, only 2 purses (identical) and only 4 pairs of shoes. Velvet hangers. Uncertain on the lavender, but cedar is a wonderful liner for a closet and definitely repels unwanted guests!!!

Hanging a paper towel rack on the wall is an awesome way to organize your belts!
I have a walk in closet and did a complete over haul last Spring. I ordered all new blush pink velvet hangers, a wall shoe rack, and baskets for the shelf where I store underwear, socks, miscellaneous items for clothing maintenance, swimwear, and night wear so I don't need a dresser in the bedroom. It took a few days to finish, but once done, it has stayed intact and is a pleasure to go into. Of course there was plenty to donate. I think once its done well, it's easy to keep it tidy. You did a very good job. Last year I went through my entire home, room by room, and decluttered.I took my time and it took about 4 months. I wear black leggings every day, but different colored tops. I have over 100 casual tops alone, and every color but browns and yellows. That was very wrong about the sell of the shoes on Amazon, I hope you reported them. Hello! I did a closet clean up this summer, I realized 80% of my clothes don’t fit, so sad. My entire closet is black clothes, I get so overwhelmed by matching colors that I found it as an easy fix, also it’s very forgiving color. I’ve gained 40 pounds in the last 4 years 😢, anyone else in the same predicament? Loved your video, it’s very motivational.

When I declutter, I put everything quickly in a bag close to the door. Then I wait a few weeks. If I don't remember what I put in it, out it goes: I won't miss it. Loved hearing you laugh and I love your sense of humour.

I moved into my new home back in May. While God has blessed us with a bigger house (Praise God!) My master closet situation has had me puzzled. It is significantly less room than my last house. But I was able to figure it our recently.
I’ve also gained weight in the last two years and put off giving clothes away until the very last moment before my move to Israel. It was just so sad to see all my favourite pieces of clothing with so many happy memories attached and not being able to wear them anymore. Now I hope someone else is just as happy to wear them as I was :) Your positive words always bring me joy ❤
