I've been watching Phil's various posts in the Volvo Facebook groups, and been looking forward to seeing it done! Can't wait to see it in person one day! Starting to get goodies together for my own redblock Volvo build, so nowhere near as mental as his turbo V8, but should still be fun!

I'm a fan of a LS swap in most cars... This is very cool, I remember here in the states when David Letterman & Paul Newman were driving Ford V8 swapped Volvos around NY/CT and NJ. Cool cars

great video. I would suggest when you do underbelly video and the lighting is dim use a light so that you don't have to wait for the adjustment or not see at all.
@@shadmonk better throttle and idle control with changes in temp and weather plus can also help in traction control with having delayed response in pedal to allow traction before going 100% throttle.
@@shadmonk yes you can make it so can have 100% throttle without even touching the pedal if wanted it's that adjustable with the amount can do with a dbw set up. Can make as track or as road as want
Love retro mods like this. Been following DW and DT for the last couple of weeks since discovering the possibility of an E46 LS swap. Come across some great work by both of them. Can anyone give a rough idea of the cost for an E46 LS swap?

Long story but was originally from Oregon then sold to someone in Washington then brought back by same people in Oregon before I brought it so that's probably reason for rust free lol 👍🏻
It's from a porsche I've taken it out since and got for sale if want it. But you need a aftermarket ecu to set the throttle Position. I've now got mazda rx8 as it suits my set up better
@@blownpoppm I am just checking out alternatives for pedals and what would be the easiest to come by if/when I upgrade my ecu to one that supports dbw. Why did you change to an rx8 pedal if I may ask? I have been looking at a brz/frs/gt86 pedal which looks easy to mount and modify to fit👌🏻
@@KimOve it's just works well with the emerald ecu fit in nice. Just wanted it to be wires strings from it and make it more simple than going through a converter
I wish more people would whiteblock swap these cars. You can make just as much or more power with a volvo t5 as an LS and the 5 cylinders have a much more unique sound, and they're sticking to the same manufacturer. The ecu's are even able to be custom tuned at home. T5>LS in all volvo chassis.
Your not going to get same power from a t5 as a ls for the same money and this will be about 500hp and 450 plus torque from only a cam stock reliable engine with power down low. T5 would need plenty more and alot of boost and more revs for the same power. And stock gm ecus can be mapped and unlocked also but I wanted more options with aftermarket ecu for possible turbo or supercharger in future
Funny just got a guy with a 5cyl asking about a Ls swap as he’s fed up of his being unreliable at 450 bhp , I’ve done a 5 cyl swap for a guy in a 240 , it was just ok at best !! If you drove both you would see what I meant , but you are right they sound good ,

242 Volvo's(as,well as 12* series Volvos)have very cramped engine bays....kudos to anyone that can shoehorn a GM LS v8 into it!!
Thanks yes Craig done a good job as always. I've since converted the pedal to a dbw mazda rx8 one for a smoother throttle now and neater finish 👍🏻

It has M5 mirrors but has M Sport 17" alloys so doubtful it's an M5
It is a m5 , just on slave wheels , got rid of the gutless bmw V8 and now got a LS3 with a blower 😁😁
