      Built between 1460 and 1470 upon the ruins of a Romanesque cathedral, today this impressive castle dominates the historical centre of Venosa, birthplace of one of the greatest Roman poets - Horace. Today part of the castle houses the National Archaeological Museum. The fortress is commonly called "Aragonese" as it was built by Duke Pirro del Balzo during the period of the Aragonese dynasty

      @@BasilicataTuristica I'm sorry to disappoint you and your impressive knowledge but I don't believe it. There is a lot of historical knowledge that is intentionally hidden to the masses. This could be another of many hoaxes that, nowadays everyone seems to be affectionate to. The fact is that the Truth is worth no money or power for some people. In any case as I might have prejudices as my origin aren't in that direction, I prefer to remain in my position now and in the future ...
