I remember seeing this display (or a similar one) in 1964 at Northland Mall in Detroit. That memory is seared in my brain as I began my lifelong fascination with Matchbox vehicles. I have a 1963 cardboard display, but would love to have the 1964 display. The D Series boxes are my favorite also. The first model that I remember purchasing was the #33 Ford Zephyr with the spring suspension. Soon after. my dad bought me the #37 Coca-Cola Truck and #47 Ice Cream Truck.
I think I got my first Matchbox in 1963, a military ambulance. In 1965, I joined the Matchbox Collector's Club and received a button and a Ford GT (#41). Since I was living in Okinawa, I had a hard time finding Matchbox cars locally, so I ordered them from New York.
In 1964 Australia the Matchbox cars were only 29 cents. Even though I was only 4 I remember our newsagents selling Matchbox cars right next the the sales counter.
Dave, I was 7 back in 1964, and your display, just brings back so, so many happy memories, living in southern England,my local toy shop, had this same display the price being 2/3d. I think ? The Hoveringham Tipper ,was based on real lorries, that I saw most days, going to and from a local quarry very happy days Merry Christmas to you both..
I remember these! There was one in the basement of the Local J.J. Newberry store and there was one at Santa Claus Land. I could never pass one of these displays without picking out a car.
#57 is a 1959 Chevrolet Impala. A beautiful collection of pristine vehicles.I am curious about the #72 blue tractor.I have 1 with the blue trailer. Is that next years offering? Happy New Year, and thank you for another great year of videos.
Out of sight set you gotta love it.

Fabulous collection!
That's lovely.
I have an example of virtually all of those models but not in that condition.
I was 4 years old in 1964. This brings back so many memories. Thanks a lot. :o)
That's so cool!

Good eye
Acho os carros da Matchbox mais legais que os Hotwheels. Ainda tenho meus Matchbox que meu pai comprou há mais de 50 anos. Abraços do Brasil.
Wonderful collection. You planning on doing a video on the other display?
👍
