Mary this was such an intriguing walk thru of the mini history of "the school of Philo". It is this type of content that makes me think you are one of finest hidden gem here. You've found a real niche here, please don't stop making them! xx
Ahh appreciate this so much! Thank you so much for watching this super niche content Sha❤❤❤
This is so fascinating and would be interested in seeing a follow up list. Great point about her ability to cultivate a talented team and how we get so obsessed over the hype of big name designers. I remembered when there was so much hype around 'Bottega Veneta by Daniel Lee' but then there was also Matthieu Blazy. It seems so much of fashion is about big egos and the brand name but there are so many talented people behind the scenes just doing great work.
Yes, part of the "magic" of these brands (at least to me) is the artisanal and innovative design behind these works. Great points Abby💕
Your commitment to Fashion as an art/design practice is real!! I truly appreciate your thoughtful approach. Thanks for another informative video. ❤
Really appreciate you watching Denise❤ ❤ ❤
Adore these videos on Phoebe Philo and she has a talent for working with the best
She truly does💕
Descobri por acaso uma joia sobre informação importantes da indústria. Love seu job direto do Brasil 🤍
Mary, I look forward to your videos because they are so interesting to watch and non political...just purely focusing on fashion. Sure fashion is political but I love how you just breakdown the news and provide insightful analysis of in the fashion/fashion industry. I am a huge fan! LOVE! I always get excited when you have a new video...keep it coming. Love the analysis, narration, and editing! Oh, and more style deconstruction please 🙏🥰
Thank you so so much! Yes I could talk about these kinds of topics for hours. Really appreciate you watching❤
In my opinion Mathieu Blazy really is doing at bottega what phoebe's Celine whould have been in 2023. It's brilliant.
Ohh interesting point! He is doing such a great job at BV!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this breakdown and history!!! Genuinely counting down the days until we see that new Phoebe Philo… your channel will be the first place I go for that initial breakdown once we see the first collection 😍😍😍
Ohh yes I'm counting down the days❤❤❤
Interested in any behind the scenes chatter about whether Ms. Philo will be debuting only a womenswear collection in September, and will it include unisex pieces.
I enjoyed this video and love content such as this. I want to learn more about fashion and its history from an intellectual approach. Your content is perfect for those of us trying to educate ourselves. I knew about Peter Do, but was unaware of many of the designers you mentioned so now I'll try to look into their work too. With designers who have celebrity status or a cult like following it's so easy to forget that they have a genius team with them that helps. It's not a one man, one band thing. Also, I love that you included your sources so we can read them. It really means a lot to me when people share their knowledge. I just subscribed as well.
Yes this list is the top of the iceberg. Thank you so much for watching❤
Best fashion content that I have come across. So appreciate the in-depth nature of your videos. Thank you.
Thank you so much Judy❤
Thank you! I really enjoy these videos because I learn so much! Thanks for linking the articles so I can go back and learn more about these designers and their brands.
Thank you so much Monarch❤
I just found your channel. You are one one of the best fashion commentators. I love your intentional, thoughtful, and artistic analysis. So fun. Thank you!
Thank you so much❤❤❤
I love these videos, they’re so informative. You’ve really lead me down the garden path in recent months
Yes, its a bit of a niche garden but love it all the more. Thank you so much for watching Sam❤
of course I love phoebe's celine but I think if youre a little older then phoebe at chloe is sewn into your brain. They were first fashion items I coveted, and also one of the first it bag takeovers I experienced as a teen with the paddington (which I never liked tbh). There isn't so much pubic record of her time there (or anyone else before her) because we didn't view fashion shows online and there was still an air of mystery around the whole thing. Only recently (sometime in the last year) a book came out with a history of chloe runways (under karl, stella, phoebe et al). really really worth looking at if youre not familiar!
Such great points! Would love to get my hands on that Chloe book. Thank you so much for sharing and watching Danielle💕
Amazing ❤
mary this vid was amazing !!!! keep doing them, spreading the names that truly matter in the fashion industry 😊😊
Yes these names need to be known! Thank you so much for watching Christian :)
Love how well documented your video is. Appreciate all the designers you presented but I still have a major “penchant” for The Row:)
Yess I feel you on The Row. Thank you so much for watching Dona💕
Keep it up, Mary. Love your analyses and updates.
Thank you so much Margaret❤
i love this channel!
Thank you so much🙏
Love this type of informative, journalistic video content, keep it up!
Thank you so much Jenny❤
I really love all your content! I'd watch another one of these videos anytime
Thank you so much Oriana❤
Thank you for the video ❤
Appreciate you watching❤
Her style is awesome
It's so good❤
I love your videos on Phoebe
Thank you so much Justine❤
I think it is worth noting some of Phoebe’s core team who didn’t only study under Phoebe but built the Celine we love are : Ilaria Icardi, who then went to work for Victoria Beckham and has her own namesake jewelry line now. There is Norman “Renee” De Vera who is the head designer of the late Alber’s AZFactory (and also ended up working with Blazy in CK RAF era) he was responsible heading the 3D Design team in the Cavendish square HQ. There is Michael Rider who was with Nicolas G’s senior designer at Balenciaga and moved as the design director at Old Celine with Phoebe and has now moved back to the US to be at RL. There is also Abnit Nijjar who was in the design team before and now has moved as the Womens design director at Jil Sander… The first designer in the video imo mislead a lot of credits due to media and hype coverage and literally carrying on some literal style pieces over to brands they’ve moved on to as the other names on this comment truly built the Old Celine we love along with Nadege pre The Row. Also to add Mathias Schneider who was in the jewelry accessories dept.
Such great points and the level of innovative and creative talent was on a whole other level at the time. Thank you for watching!
@@MarysRoom thanks and really enjoy your channel! :)
Mary this is another amazing video 🙌🙌🙌I love Phoebe Philo designs. Old Celine archives are still so desirable. I have a few dresses, my favorite is from her ballet collection. But i didnt follow her school. Its amazing how she influenced so many designers🙌 its going to be interesting to see her work, in her own line. She might overshadow Chanel😳😜 well Chanel lately is so forgettable, i dont even remember which collection is from, its all the same🤪 Have a blessed day🙏💗
Yeahh I feel you 100% on Chanel. Phoebe Philo always has a pulse and instinct on what women really need and desire that I think that voice has been missing in fashion for so long. So exciting and am counting down the days❤
Love your videos. They are so informative and inspiring. I really loved the designs of the Creative Director of Belize in this video. Why is she so hard to find on the internet? Her designs are beautiful.
Yes I wish I could find more on her work. With these independent designers there's less out there, which is a shame. Thank you so much for watching❤
I love this, thanks for sharing your thoughts! Veronica Leoni’s designs remind me a lot of Margiela at Hermès, will def check out Quira🤍
Definitely! Love how modern yet beautiful her designs are. Thank you so much for watching Agnes❤
can we see a "wardrobe spring/summer outfits" you know shopping from your own wardrobe and give us some outfits idea ❤ I love everything you doing and I would love to see your own style for inspiration 💜
Yes, I've been thinking about doing a seasonal edit or making shorts. Thank you for watching❤
Thank you. Your content is digestible, captivating and executed in such a tasteful way. i really appreciate it and always look forward to your uploads. 🤎
Thank you so much!
Do the Jonathan Anderson one..
this is an interesting introduction and i appreciate your wanting to keep the video brief. I'd be interested to know if there are any connections you draw in design sensibility, maybe going into more examples or detail. Is there something you think these designers learned from Philo? Maybe it's too soon to tell
I think many of these designers (not always) fall in line with the "quiet luxury" or even more of a sartorial approach even to women's-wear. Less focus on visible logos and branding, and allowing the garments to stand on their own. Thank you so much for watching❤️
Saving my money for the upcoming Celine collection. Mary do u have any inside info on when she’s dropping her new line?
I'm with you, saving up too! I don't but as soon as I do I'll post here. Thank you for watching Heather❤
Your videos are timeless. They''ll pick up views over time. Congratulations.
btw I'm interested in more affordable brands in case amy of these interest you?
Rag & Bone, the name is genius to start off with and I find myself seeing what they have first,
Vince because the high end of their stuff is quality and often washable yeah.
Frame because they somtimes have cool stuff ahead of time.
Coach sometimes because some of their stuff is such high quality for the price.
Lastly not the rain coat but the preppy fabrc with straps that they turn into a ball gown at Burberry, I love some of their stuff too.
In case any of this interests you. But I'm also interested in what you're interested in, so that's cool.
Thank you! Much appreciated. I enjoy all those brands and have owned pieces from each of them. I don't do a lot of styling/hauls, but every now and again I'll pick up something from these brands. Thank you so much for watching!
I love your videos. I look forward to your uploads so please don’t stop doing long format. I’m curious about your background since you’re so knowledgeable and well spoken. The depth and analysis is such a breath of fresh air.
Thank you so much! I actually never studied fashion, but studied art and global development and have worked in both fields.
i know you like a certain type of fashion like with celine and hedi but id love to hear you talk about other brands history like balenciaga or dior because youre trustworthy
Yes I would love to, they have such rich histories. Thank you for watching❤
I studied under her for a year
How do I follow Rock Wang?
The designer's name is Rok Hwang. He is on IG @rokhofficial
Where is Marc Jacobs?
Love this designer breakdown Mary! 👏👏👏I can’t enough of Matthieu Blazy’s muted colors and styles lately. 🤎😘
Yes the muted neutrals blended with pastels are so up your alley! Thank you so much for watching❤
