Mary this was such an intriguing walk thru of the mini history of "the school of Philo". It is this type of content that makes me think you are one of finest hidden gem here. You've found a real niche here, please don't stop making them! xx

This is so fascinating and would be interested in seeing a follow up list. Great point about her ability to cultivate a talented team and how we get so obsessed over the hype of big name designers. I remembered when there was so much hype around 'Bottega Veneta by Daniel Lee' but then there was also Matthieu Blazy. It seems so much of fashion is about big egos and the brand name but there are so many talented people behind the scenes just doing great work.

    • @MarysRoom

Yes, part of the "magic" of these brands (at least to me) is the artisanal and innovative design behind these works. Great points Abby💕

Sure fashion is political but I love how you just breakdown the news and provide insightful analysis of in the fashion/fashion industry. I am a huge fan! LOVE! I enjoyed this video and love content such as this. I want to learn more about fashion and its history from an intellectual approach. Your content is perfect for those of us trying to educate ourselves. I knew about Peter Do, but was unaware of many of the designers you mentioned so now I'll try to look into their work too. With designers who have celebrity status or a cult like following it's so easy to forget that they have a genius team with them that helps. It's not a one man, one band thing. Also, I love that you included your sources so we can read them. It really means a lot to me when people share their knowledge. I just subscribed as well.

of course I love phoebe's celine but I think if youre a little older then phoebe at chloe is sewn into your brain. They were first fashion items I coveted, and also one of the first it bag takeovers I experienced as a teen with the paddington (which I never liked tbh). There isn't so much pubic record of her time there (or anyone else before her) because we didn't view fashion shows online and there was still an air of mystery around the whole thing. Only recently (sometime in the last year) a book came out with a history of chloe runways (under karl, stella, phoebe et al). really really worth looking at if youre not familiar!

I think it is worth noting some of Phoebe’s core team who didn’t only study under Phoebe but built the Celine we love are : Ilaria Icardi, who then went to work for Victoria Beckham and has her own namesake jewelry line now. There is Norman “Renee” De Vera who is the head designer of the late Alber’s AZFactory (and also ended up working with Blazy in CK RAF era) he was responsible heading the 3D Design team in the Cavendish square HQ. There is Michael Rider who was with Nicolas G’s senior designer at Balenciaga and moved as the design director at Old Celine with Phoebe and has now moved back to the US to be at RL. There is also Abnit Nijjar who was in the design team before and now has moved as the Womens design director at Jil Sander… The first designer in the video imo mislead a lot of credits due to media and hype coverage and literally carrying on some literal style pieces over to brands they’ve moved on to as the other names on this comment truly built the Old Celine we love along with Nadege pre The Row. Also to add Mathias Schneider who was in the jewelry accessories dept.

Mary this is another amazing video 🙌🙌🙌I love Phoebe Philo designs. Old Celine archives are still so desirable. I have a few dresses, my favorite is from her ballet collection. But i didnt follow her school. Its amazing how she influenced so many designers🙌 its going to be interesting to see her work, in her own line. She might overshadow Chanel😳😜 well Chanel lately is so forgettable, i dont even remember which collection is from, its all the same🤪 Have a blessed day🙏💗

    • @MarysRoom

Yeahh I feel you 100% on Chanel. Phoebe Philo always has a pulse and instinct on what women really need and desire that I think that voice has been missing in fashion for so long. So exciting and am counting down the days❤

this is an interesting introduction and i appreciate your wanting to keep the video brief. I'd be interested to know if there are any connections you draw in design sensibility, maybe going into more examples or detail. Is there something you think these designers learned from Philo? Maybe it's too soon to tell

    • @MarysRoom
      @MarysRoom  2 месяца назад

I think many of these designers (not always) fall in line with the "quiet luxury" or even more of a sartorial approach even to women's-wear. Less focus on visible logos and branding, and allowing the garments to stand on their own. Thank you so much for watching❤️

Your videos are timeless. They''ll pick up views over time. Congratulations.
btw I'm interested in more affordable brands in case amy of these interest you?
Rag & Bone, the name is genius to start off with and I find myself seeing what they have first,
Vince because the high end of their stuff is quality and often washable yeah.
Frame because they somtimes have cool stuff ahead of time.
Coach sometimes because some of their stuff is such high quality for the price.
Lastly not the rain coat but the preppy fabrc with straps that they turn into a ball gown at Burberry, I love some of their stuff too.
In case any of this interests you. But I'm also interested in what you're interested in, so that's cool.
