Ben... You James Mary and Hardy are just so inspiring to us we look forword to see your video on the peaks as we have very enjoyed hardys and James and Mary... Just brilliant!!! ❤️👍😁
Really enjoyed seeing what you have packed. It's just amazing that it all fits &equally amazing at just how fast everything needed mounts up.Wishing you a lovely cozy adventure* :-)
Do you happen to know how much this all would weigh? I wonder whether Talon 44 can handle well not only this volume but also be comfortable enough to carry all of these. It's straps and belt are quite delicate...
Hi Jakub. I didn't actually weigh it all when I made this video - sorry. The Talon can easily handle it though. The straps are a bit thinner but as long as you're not doing a massive pre-camp hike, you should be fine. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Matt. Just a lot of squashing air out and careful, smart packing. Stuffing things inside other things helps too. I fill all the nooks and crannies!
Nice one Ben! Interesting to see what you get in a 44 litre rucksack - I think that I need to practice packing a bit more and get out a bit more so that it gets easier for me! Hope that you guys have a great and safe trip and really look forward to seeing the video of it. ATB
How has that Coleman stove been for you? I’ve just bought one but I’m new to wild camping so keen to hear how it’s been for you the last year or so? it seems excellent to me despite its heft. Not a problem for me mind you. I happened to notice I bought the same Petzl HT last year seeing your review randomly- it’s amazing, using it twice weekly. Didn’t realise until I started researching wild camp gear this winter that it was your review. So thanks! Also this is not related, but noticed the Stephen Biesty Cross section book which I had as a kid- one of my all time favourites lol must look it out again..
Hi NNICKKK. Many thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Glad you're having a good experience with the Petzl. Re the Coleman, it's my go-to stove for any gas cooking. The weight doesn't bother me. It's bomb-proof, sits firmly on he ground pumps out some serious heat. I only use this for gas cooking. I forgot all about that cross-section book! Thanks again and all the best - Ben
Hello Ben. Can you please inform me what is the reflective heat mat that you show on the video? It´s really tick and I just found that ones that looks like an aluminium sheet. Thanks and cheers.
Hi there. It’s made by Highlander. I bought it a few years ago from Amazon I think. Didn’t cost that much. I hope that helps and thanks for watching. Ben
blimey that's a heavy load!! the only reason i'd take a nalgene over a bog standard 1L bottle is to use it as a hot water bottle if it gets really nippy. can't believe osprey still don't throw in a pack cover.. if they're not going to make waterproof bags then they should at least give you that.. it's 2020 FFS :) i'm a glove fanatic and always on the look out for decent ones so i'll be interested to see how you get on with those montanes. are you not taking a water filter? edit: oh i have the same thermometer as you have there.. mine's a perfect 1C above or below the actual temp (i always forget which) so check it against something reliable before you leave and do what i always forget to and mark it on the side +/- :) have a great time
nice setup you got there I use the alpine fyrepower myself, its not failed me yet! i really need to get out more but ive got to much work on in the run up to christmas 😭😭 Ah well I may be able to get out for new year.
Interesting video thanks. The Talon 44 looks a good option but I gather it is best for weights of up to 12 kg max. How did you find it with 14 kg. Thanks.
I think you’re probably right there Gordon. Beyond 12kg, I’ve found it remarkably reliable. The minor niggle might be that the shoulder straps aren’t as padded as other comparable models. It’s all the loops and pockets from Osprey that make it so good though. You might want to look at their Exos 48 pack for more room and (I think) padding. Many thanks for watching the video. Ben
@@benhikescamps Ben, thanks. I have an Osprey Kestrel 48, but am looking for something a little lighter and the Talon 44 seems to suit. Best wishes for your future travels.
Many thanks for watching. This video was a load-out video as opposed to showing how I fit it all in. I have plans for a separate video for that though. Thanks for the feedback. Appreciated. ATB 👍
Maybe. But that’s only if one wants to. A lot of it is personal preference. What might be a ‘just in case’ for one person might not be wanted by another. I’ve never been that obsessed with weight to be honest. This all went in a 44 litre pack which, for me, is nothing for an overnighter. For a a multi-day, things would clearly be different. Thanks for the feedback. 👍
Ye I get it I also carry more for an overnight a camping helinox chair 850 grams and a couple of other luxuries for anything over only minimum, thanks for getting back.
I have this bag and I still have no idea how you managed to fit all this gear in! Have you thought about doing a video of how to pack your gear ?
That’s been said before actually! I think a video is due on this. Thanks JD 👍

Ah thanks both. That’s really nice of you to say so. I’m about half way through editing my Peaks vid. Hope to have it up soon. Hope all well - Ben 😉
Lol rucksack tetrus - nice bits of kit there hope you have a good camp 👏❤️😁xx
Thanks Louise!
It's amazing how much you can put in a Talon 44 Rucksack.
Food for thought Ben
One tries!

Will be doing a video soon showing how it all fits in!!
Really enjoyed this would like to see you loafing the pack, am thinking of getting one, what was your pack weight???
Hi Life. Sorry, I didn’t weigh it. Many thanks for watching.

Nice load out video. Howmuch did it all weigh? atb
I've actually weighed it yet. Once all packed up properly again, I'll check that for you. Thanks for watching. ATB - Ben
+WhiteTongue Outdoors ended up at about 14 kg.

I am planning to buy tallon 44 so i would definitely love to see how all these things could be packed in there. Your videos are amazing. 👍🏻
Hi Ben. Looks like a good setup. What’s the weight?
Hi Graham. Thanks for that. To be honest, I’ve not weighed it yet so don’t really know. I might weigh tonight once have done final checks.
Sounds like an exciting trip. Can’t wait to see the video. Enjoy and be safe.
14kg mate.
Tell me one thing
Which one is good Mutant 52 vs Talon44?
Hi there. I’m afraid I don’t know the Mutant 52.
Seems like lots of stuff....
I guess when laid out like that it does. Need it all in winter though!
Did I seriously just watch this whole video only for you to not show how all of that fit?
Yes, you did.
@@benhikescamps Fair. lol
Far far far too many just in cases, mights and back UPS ,you could quite easily reduce your pack weight by a third.
