You know the funniest thing about that HOA vs Farmer story. That farm is without a doubt at minimum double the property value of the neighborhood next to it. Farmland goes for tens of thousands per acre. It's always weird how people look at us farmers and assume we're poor despite, owning hundreds to thousands of acres, farm equipments, and often hiring workers to help. Oh shit that's an old farm. Couple more years and it'll be a Century Farm. It's this little award given out to farmers in America who have had a piece of land in their family for a century we actually have some about to hit that mark too. They give you a little plac and certificate.
Another running gag is, they thing that Farmers are Stupid. Farmers need to know so many things from so many fields, from Law, biology, vetinary, Machines, Crops and many other areas.
@@asokawhite Typical for the people who grew up looking at the simplistic depictions of farmers in their childhood story books and though they got over the simplistic depictions of other professions somehow still think farmers are what those books show.
It’s sad that they can’t even do a bit of research to find this stuff out. It only takes like 5 minutes max to find out how expensive some of the equipment they use alone are
@@Allantitan They have to think of the possibility of what that equipment costs and that requires them to examine the small minded idea they got from their childhood books of farms and farmers. In short, it's something that never occurs to them.
Local story has somethiing like that hapening, city couple thinking they've moved to "The perfect house in the country side surrounded by flower fields", and then started calling the police when the farmer was working the fields, after he spread manure and the police basically told them "that's normal in the country side, stop calling us about irrelevant sh*t" they put their house up for sale and moved back to the city.
Been happening to a local racetrack here too. Track has been there for 60 years and the houses around it for maybe 10-20 years and then complain about the noise. If I see someone whine about it I just say "Did they move the track by you or did you move by the track?"
Same people who move next to an airport and then complain that the aircraft are noisy. Some people never think about their purchases beyond looking at the house itself.
People near wher I grew up moved into expensive houses next to a major interstate, then complained about the noise and forced the state to build huge noise barrier walls to keep traffic noise out of their house. except one guy who complained it spoiled the view and made thm remove a section of the wall right in front of his big picture windows so he could have a noise wall And a view, paid for by the tax payers of the state. but they are the Main Character, so they deserve things to be all about what makes them happy/comfortable. if they want peaceful country living without the hassle of living in the country, by golly, taxes will have to go up to extend city sercies to their new cottage(cottage means huge McMansion with a fake log cabin exterior) and how dare people actually do thing like farm or hunt near their perfect houe in the woods/ beautiful field? the entitlement is real...
Don't mess with a farmer! It's a hard job requiring incredible patience, perseverance, inventiveness, and mussles and a will of steel. You won't like the result
Often times the actions of the HOA are dictated by 1 or 2 individuals that think they have more powers than they actually do. If the rest of their 'constituents' knew what they were up to they'd be trouble.
The Fishing story , the one that set up to fish in front of some one already is at fault, they should have moved some where else away from her, the old lady is also a Karen for moaning about her beach and stealing fish so BOTH sides are just as bad as each other....
Karen got lucky, in many places stealing then defacing a sign that has been in place since the 30s is a much mor seious crime "desttruction of a landmark"
As for the soldier story, he would have gone to JAG. I wish they would research before writing a phony story. Chrysler Credit tried to charge us at a higher interest rate on our cars during the gulf war instead of the legally mandated rate. Jag took them apart
#1: I don't like cheaters and especially those who try to make a breakup the other person's fault. And I certainly agree those who harbor illegal animals should be held accountable. However, I wonder if OP had gone along with the illegal animals if Alex wouldn't have cheated and broken up with OP. So mixed feelings about what OP did to Alex.
$200. OPs stepfather thought it acceptable to steal/take ops money from them. After retrieving theironey, OP shpukd have raken an additional $200 in compensation just to balance the situation.
Beach story: YTA That lady was already sitting there and you decided that you weren't going to respect that. Yes, that might have been the spot you always go to, but it's not yours. You have to be a major AH to set up your fishing gear right before someone that is sitting there. She had every right to be there Her reaction was bad, but you brought that on yourself
Jesus... the reptile thing is WAAAAY WAY beyond even. Getting him in trouble with the school... totally fine. Taking away his scalebabies, not cool. I dont know what aninal he had, im assuming a komodo because its the only one i can think of thats neither venomous nor legal in the states, but i do know that when my ex had her blackmail me for a grand or so in back rent if i didnt give her my monitor lizards i damn near un-lifed myself after i moved out. I loved those lizards, she dumped me for another dude, so it wasnt a revenge thing, just her being her. Many herp lovers are very close to their reptiles... they bond with owners, and i knew theyd be upset and hateful to anyone that tried to handle em. Im glad i didnt quit though, a year or so later i met my current fiance, about the nicest gal ive ever met, caring, loving, never yells at me for things like "not finding her cell phone she lost fast enough" like the last one did, among other similarly horrible abusive crap bad enough that my therapist gave me the "cycle of abuse" paper they usually give to people who have physical abuse problems from their spouse. In fact... this gal never yells at all, shes just amazing. ❤
Don’t cheat is generally the defense against that. Agree that if It wasn’t, this was a nuclear revenge story Also I’m glad you found someone better but next time make sure to record or have acteenshots or the text as that’s just extortion
$550 a month for HOA fees? Wtf do they do for $6,600 a year? and from every home in the community? If you join an HOA you deserve everything they cheat you out of unless it's a fee below $200 for mowing, street maintenance and clubhouse cleaning. If there's a pool and you don't have enough space for one of your own I could justify another $100 monthly to help cover a pool guy. With everyone paying $100 that covers a pool guy and chlorine. Too many HOA stories with them stealing funds or attacking neighbors that are not even in their community because they want more money they can steal. You should demand a copy of all financials of the HOA monthly and do your homework to make sure that it's correct. Let everyone know what they did to you and even get together to start your own group with a fee that goes into savings for someone who has a problem for a month and needs help so this doesn't happen again. Also, get yourself on the HOA board, find out about everything and lower the dues!
If you're going to write fiction at least keep your story consistent. The sign was stolen you then put up new signs and lights after the theft. So how could the lights illuminate the theft that was recorded on the neighbours camera. All just BS.
Well I took that the new signs went up after the old sign was stolen and the rumor that his sign was stolen led to a neighbor checking their cameras and realizing they caught the theft.
No proof it wasn't you? I just recorded you saying it wasn't you. It better be returned to me undamaged by the end of the day as my grandpa made it. Then whisper in her ear "they will never find your body!" and walk away, acting like you are turning off your phone app to record. ALWAYS RECORD YOUR CONVERSATION
Are all of these stories fiction? In addition to what others have picked up on, the overall enjoyable first story was spoiled for me because the OP was supposed to be in academia but used "museums" as a plural rather than the correct "musea" which an academic would know. The gerundive form of the plural, like millennia / millennium or referenda / referendum.
@bookkeeper1995 I don't like hoas due to how strict and stupid most of their rules are. So many of the rules just make life more difficult. But if something happens to you and I know who did it I'll be sure and not say a word to anyone. It's cool that you don't think rules and regulations matter at all. You aren't a valued member of society.

Always check laws before recording convos. But yes record convos if allowed.
