every time i see neil diamond it makes me cry so many memories revolve around this man and his music - one of the absolute best singer/songwriters ever. i remember him with dick clark's where the action is long long ago - even then the woman hiding inside a teenager wanted him so badly - funny my son in law worked with him in tampa - helping to set up the audio - he said he was just a nice down to earth guy - God bless you Neil for all the sweet/sad moments you gave me
I so agree with these comments. Hot August Night may be the best live album ever recorded! And Neil Diamond has more talent than any one person should have. I've had to good fortune of seeing him in concert a number of times and he NEVER disappoints. Always an awesome show!
I think this concert was in Sydney March 10 1976, I remember seeing it on TV live and I couild hear it across the park at the Sydney Showground...my sister and hubby were lucky enough to be there. Wonderful tour...
What a great ‘Thank you Australian’ iConcert in 1976. How I wish I could have been there. Thank you so much, ’Jennert’ for posting this upload. Thank you UTube. Neil has so much passion, energy as he performs! 🥰👍☺️
I remember it from watching the TV - it was still an old B&W thing - sure Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor (now there's a guy who has still 'got it') and all those guys were so good but something about Diamond and his music grabbed us and held us in a trance.....
What a pity we have all this digital technology capturing the masses of mediocrity of today and there is so little quality film on such genius like Neil Diamond.
The concert was televised live on March 9, 1976. I don't believe there was ever an official release but I know many have a VCR of the show. I've wanted to get a copy for years, I think I'll start posting adds for one on Australian web sites.
Neil is super hot and sexy especially way back then in the 70's and 80's, which was my prime time as well. I remember looking And admiring him thinking and dreaming I wish I could marry a man as gorgeous and gallant as Neil , it took many years but it Did happen,I do believe Love does come to Those who wait and dream thanks Neil for all the beautiful memories ....
There's still great legit talent out there... But good luck hearing it on commercial radio! MTV's soulless corporate bastards rule radio & TV, Rolling Stone, the ultimate sell-out rag has been pedaling themselves as the holy prophets of cool for decades. Alt. radio, local clubs, jazz clubs, it's out there, but we gotta work for it!
I'm not all that familiar with this song. Anybody have history on why the name Sooliman is in the song. For those who aren't aware, Sooliman is the arabic pronunciation of Solomon, the prophet.
I disagree, that Neil Diamond was EVER HARD ROCK...that does not lesson his great performances, nor his great song writing skills. Many artists covered his songs, like hard rockers Deep Purple doing "Kentucky Woman", Johnny Cash recognizing the great song smithing talents and performing with and next to him. Neil was unique, and was not afraid to put out music with maybe no particular genre label attached to it, though became known as "Adult Contemporary", wow, same category as Barry Manilow! (YUK)
one of my favourites from the days of 1970s.....
It was just so cool to live back in the 70's.

I want to get some African Drums and sing high above the beat. No words. This has inspired me for what I am composing.

There's no end of good music to discover, when you ignore the hipsters.
