Great video! We are lucky enough to have a cherry tree just outside our house. It was only this year that i was brave enough to try one as i didn''t do to well at foraging when i was younger! lol There was a tree though that has cherries that was poisonous growing up but i can't remember the name of it. Maybe it was a birch tree? It had a whitish trunk. Anyway, it did put me off eating wild cherries. I also ended up in hospital when i was about 8 as we had just bought some mangetout for the first time and i thought that this large tree shrub was growing the same thing. Put me off eating peas for a few years after that! I am glad i have learnt a lot more since then! lol
My wife has made loads of elderflower cordial since watching your video, she has a lot in the freezer and she has dehydrated a lot of the flowers for making cordial in the future
Most of the cherry trees have already been stripped near me, on to the plums. Would be really interested in a water bath video once you get it. There are loads out there but they are all using the mason jars which are expensive. I have a load of clip top cheapy poundland jars, can you water bath with those?
How wonderful! We have cherry hardwood in our forest, but not the fruiting kind. Makes heavenly scented woodstove firewood as well as millable timber. Side note- I always love to see how you and your wife work as a team, and the endearments you share. Heartwarming and adorable 💕
Can you eat all cherries in the wild? We have a cherry tree in the garden been there for years so I don’t know anything about it. Did you look up the worm info I sent you?
Hi Lewis- yes all cherries are edible but some will be sour and others sweet. The sour ones can be made into jams and the like. I never received the worm email- perhaps you could resend? The email address is in the description 😊
Dear Carl, Defintely quick and easy!
Thanks for the cherry tree identification lesson - I love the knowledge.
Best, Alex- NetZero Homestead
Thanks Alex! Do you have any near you?
Thanks for keeping it simple Carl, I'm grateful your stuff was in the container cuz I don't have all the kit. 😊
Great stuff 👍 thank you 😊
Perfect. I'll be foraging wild cherries this week.
