- Опубликовано: 4 июл 2024
- An introduction to the Razor Crest VFX series. Over the course of these 9-hour lectures, brush up on PBR surfacing with UDIMs, learn about lighting, AOVs, render layers, batch and sequence rendering, EXR compositing, and ACEScg with Maya, V-Ray, and After Effects. These lectures were originally built for a college VFX class that I teach, taking students from beginner to intermediate level.
In this first part, we're reviewing how to set a Maya project, going over some useful Maya settings, getting started with the V-Ray PLE, and importing a model.

It's my pleasure

When is the smoke sim part coming out?
Sweet thanks. That part should be sometime during the week of the 30th I believe. Still have quite a few things to go over first.
I recently went through your tutorial on "VFX Plane EXR Compositing", then I wanted to create my own project and here I found Razor Crest, downloaded, opened in Maya, and here comes the message that a new video on CGStirk. -_-
Haha, well there is a lot of new info with these and it's fully PBR this time, but the concepts in the older tutorials are still valid.
thank you for this!!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the course, I'm learning a lot from you :)
You're welcome. Glad to hear it
@@CGStirk keep them coming :)
I switched over to blender a while ago, but I'll still watch it for the compositing bit since I still like after effects, and maybe I'll learn some more about materials and texturing too
cool to see you making videos again!
I should probably learn some Blender eventually, but I think the concepts will be the same. Not sure if Blender has a render layer system like Maya's. Thanks, yeah these were originally made for the vfx class last October, but after two semesters, it was too hard to finish in time.
@@CGStirk the free maya config addon really helped with jumping into it. it makes the controls more like maya so it makes sense, and there's a button to easily switch back to blender controls if you're following a tutorial
I haven't rendered much of anything yet but I think it might have layers, and if not, there's probably a free addon somewhere for it!
That's something I had thought about. I didn't realize there was a switch back button. I always try to learn the native hotkeys just because of tutorials, but there's a limit to what I can remember. 3ds max, Maya, and Unreal are different enough.
@@CGStirk Yes Blender has Render Layers
@@unicornhuntercg Sweet. Do they allow overrides like in Maya?
How many parts does this have? Can't wait for part 2
I think about 20. Part 2 is out tomorrow!
I use arnold, but whenever i texture my model i get this uv seems appears in render view, if you have any kind of solution I'm really grateful, by the way your tutorials are great
Thanks. Are you referring to this Razor Crest model in Arnold? If so, it sounds like the UDIMs aren't loading. I believe the same tag is used in Arnold too. If you can post a screenshot on the Discord server I might be able to provide more help.
@@CGStirk well I'm not talking about Razor Crest model, it's the one i model, when i add some imperfections i don't know why uv seems appears, still if you want to look out i can upload it to discord
@@shekharchauhan8507 Is the texture map for the imperfections seamless? Yeah, it might help to see what the issue is.
