It's sad that only Slovenia,Croatia and Serbia are only left in competition from Yugoslavia. We need a Balkan win to stimulate other countries to come back promptly.
Well Montenegro was never really good at Eurovision, they even sabotaged Serbias potential wins in 2005 and 2006 through Montenegrin jury corruption. Their music scene relies on Serbian music industry. Same with Bosnia and North Macedonia. Even with Yugoslavia gone, Serbia keeps everyone together as the music powerhouse of Ex Yugoslavia, which is kinda amusing since during Yugoslavia that was Croatia.
I was 5 years old in that ESC 90' (taly won that year! 😜) and I felt in love with that performance. Still to this day I'm get happy when I listen this song :)
🏆 Yes, Italy won with "Insieme 1992" performed by Toto Cutugno (by the way, his backing singers were from Slovenia). France and Ireland shared the second place. And several of the 1990 entries dealt with the fall of the Berlin Wall (Germany, Austria, Norway, in a certain way Finland, too).
I was 15 back than (Yugoslavia, now Serbia) and found her cute. Only now do I realise how much of the Marilyn Monroe vibes she put into her performance. Marilyn was truly a legend, it is always touching when people remember and honor her.
First Eurovision Song Contest I remember ever watching. I was 5 years old and was hooked. National Contest held in wonderful city of Zadar ❤❤❤ Also, this was on the first album I ever owned "Bube u Glavi", which had this and many other great songs (Bube u glavi, Smokvica, Moj mali je opasan, Ti nemaš snage, Dvije zvjezdice...). Hugs and kisses from Serbia! ❤❤❤
It’s a wonderful idea improving the quality of memorable performances from the past, but it’s also responsible for causing an increase in blood pressure among contest fans. Anyway, this was great. And it didn’t even finish in the top 5! It would have been a worthy winner in ‘90.

Your observation is valid. The majority in the audience (probably 60%) were Croats and by the time Tajci sang around 90% of Croats opposed the project that was the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. They clapped of course but it was certainly not the type of clapping and cheering Tajci deserved.
I was absolutely obsessed with this song when I got into Eurovision two years ago. 1990 is still my favourite year. I had this song so stuck in my head that I once dreamt about having to analyze the lyrics for my German exam in high school. As you may have noticed, the lyrics are NOT in German.
