Linkara:Why do I always try to punch Robots? It never works Fox:Give yourself a few more years,a few level ups,a bunch of your friends, a new wardrobe and a Movie. Then you'll show him
Jack Kirby. Co-Creator of Captain America, Fantastic Four, and creator of The New Gods and The Eternals. Forever immortalized in a Rob Liefeld comic as the complete opposite of a Kirby character. Now, if that isn’t a legacy, I don’t know what is.
Reading the part with Darkthorne, I was surprised that Darkthorne is voiced by Michael Ironside inside of my head. Yes, the same guy who voiced Darkseid from DC Comics voiced Darkthorne in my head while reading Darkthorne's lines.
I still gotta respect Wildmane's codename though. It's the only name that would make sense for something that looks like Logan and Beast's forbidden lovechild.
Darkseid isn't misspelled it is just in a dialect of German. Kirby had a very specific reason for using that spelling. He was trying to create a parallel between the gods of Apokalips and high ranking Nazis: Vermin Vunderbar and Himmler, Darkseid and Hitler. Desaad is less direct. His name is an obvious reference to The Marquis De Sade (not a Nazi) but his personality and job makes him closer to Josef Megele. Glorious Godfrey- Apokalip's PR flak was a stand in Goebbels. That's right... like most comics published by DC and Marvel at the time it was distinctly antifascist.
And you know what's crazy? Inside of my head, Liefeld got Michael Ironside to voice Darkthornne. The only reason, is because Rob liked his performance as Darkseid.
Okay, see, that first segment before the theme song is exactly why I want to hang out with you at a con one day. You are probably the funniest and most clever contributor on the Channel Awesome team, and in the general reviewer genre. Kudos, Mr. Kara. Kudos.
Fun fact, this and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #1 and the very first episodes of AT4W I ever watched, and it was at the time they were first released on ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.
14:35 "We are the Disciples of Doom..." Doom? Doom!? Well, okay then, apparently the Disciples of Doom have abandoned Darkthornn for an actual Jack Kirby villain...
The Entity storyline is still the only one I've seen front to back but it was a lot of fun! I love the twist about what it ended up being and who it was.
It's funny that Brandon Graham's ver of Prophet ; Via 2012 relaunch , Redeems most of these characters , and takes then into the far future lsd /future techno/magic style. Wish more people rebooted like they did with Prophet
To be totally fair, Youngblood do look as bulky and unnatural as the robots. Also, Rob Liefeld's robots all look really lame. Seriously, they're all just a bunch of ovals layered on top of one another with tech details.
Hey Linkara I actually have a few ShadowHawk comics of himself...he kicks ass in my eyes but I know he looks like a half Wolverine/Batman hybrid of hero but kills his opponents...he is a bad ass when you do see his other issues
8:04 Why did it take me this many years to realize that joke makes no sense? Oh god need to do math... This issue takes place in the 90s, so that joke is ten years too late; and the captions preceding the ones Linkara read say Prophet was in that cryo chamber for 50 years not 80.
+John Porteous By his admission, he saw his life with Linkara as oppression and slavery and absolutely despised organic beings. Whether that's actually what was going on is something I leave up to interpretation.
I would have laughed even harder 5 years ago if the only thing to take down Mechakara was just a shot to the shoulder. I still laughed at the intro though, it was a great joke.
Since you said it I had to check. It was difficult to measure so I may be a little off but my thigh *is* wider than my head. Do I have Youngblood's disease?
Yeah, but when I uploaded the Power Rangers review before, it copyright-flagged the MMPR theme used at the end. I tried to remove it, the removal failed, but the copyright notice disappeared anyway, sooo I don't want to tempt fate by reuploading it again.
6:30 >Linkara says that the New Gods are gods Come Final Crisis review: >Linkara says the New Gods are just super-advanced assholes IS THIS THE CONTINUITY ALERT I HEAR
Out of curiosity: what was the point that made you change your opinion on the New Gods? Don't take me as being a butt-hurt fanboy, I barely read comics and just like characters in general, mostly when it comes to designs or concepts that make them. But wasn't Darkseid at the very least portrayed as a quasi-divine living being for most of his run?
10:44 Even putting aside Cougar's terrible dialog, where the hell is he walking off to? And then the next time we see him, he's staring at Prophet's Crotchet. Where are the characters standing or moving in relation to each other in space? EVER?
so at around the time you reviewed Youngblood #2, you'd been reviewing comics for 3-4 years, right? I mean, I THINK Doom's IV was an anniversary video, wasn't it?
+David Spring In terms of video, only about a year and a quarter. Doom's IV was NOT an anniversary video, it was my second episode made in November 2008. But yeah, about 2-3 years, I'd say.
i never watched any of your episodes in order anyway, so i'm used to it by now. i'm pretty sure the story i have running in my head is vastly different than the one you've produced.
I must ask you. Yes you see these reviews as a job,but....what was the most fun review to make? Be it due to the interesting story of development, the hilarity of the comic or whatever.
I may get some slack for saying this. But I really enjoyed the Shadowhawk mini series. The mystery behind it kept me engaged and to be honest the art in my mind wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. As for Youngblood...well for the 90's it wasn't half bad though not the best. But hey I still love 90's Valiant and the art is terrible in almost every title so I may not be the best judge. Maybe if you ever get time you can do the Image/Valiant cross over. It was terrible and by terrible I mean the worst. Anyways keep up the great video's.
Shadowhawk was a just plain BAD book(s) and character created (written? my memory fails me) and drawn by Jim Valentino. There was nothing good about that book. Valentino's artwork was not as bad as Liefeld's art (Valentino technically knew how to draw and worked for Marvel for years before they decided that artistic standards were for losers and hired Liefeld.) but his art was not good. Youngblood was fucking horrible! Not only was it a mish-mash of the same superhero team tropes of previous decades but the dialog, character designs, and artwork was just garbage! Valiant, in contrast put out well written and drawn books and should not be mentioned with Image, Liefeld etc.
Possibly when Stephen Platt (aka "Splatt") was drawing the book. That guy was an incredible artist (probably still is but I have not read any new comics in the last 15 years so...?).
I think this guy is a virgin. Bad comics seem to really really offend him. I like Youngblood because of how bad the comics are, they are ridiculous, but that makes them hilarious to read, it's unintentional satire, and the comics are almost like an unintentional parody of superhero comics too. Comics are made with the purpose of entertaining people, they aren't to be taken seriously. And there are much worse artists than Liefield, I used to be on the Liefield bandwagon, but now I'm more honest with myself, sure he isn't amazing, but he's better than a fair few artists. He gets more hate than he deserves, and I met Liefield once, people say he has a big ego, he doesn't, he's really laid back and easy to talk to, and he makes fun of himself a lot, he embraces the hate, and he parodies himself. Also all these knock off characters were intentional, Liefield, MacFarlane, and Jim Lee wanted to piss off Marvel as much as the could, I don't condone that immaturity though, if they were more original they could have actually made some amazing characters.
LoboDeSade Also Liefield gets called out on stupid bullshit that other comic artists do, but because it's Liefield he gets hate for doing exactly what every other artist has been guilty of. People certainly love jumping on bandwagons and being dishonest with themselves.
LoboDeSade Your comment is a little odd, though. "Comics are made with the purpose of entertaining people, they aren't to be taken seriously." This is just one youtuber, making a living by making fun of something, while using a schtick. The purpose? *Entertainment*! Go figure...
Ah, assholery and calling people "virgins" as though it was an actual insult! It's been a long time since I've seen that particular type of douchery on RUclips, believe it or not!
+LoboDeSade, _"Bad comics seem to really really offend him."_ -Lobo' False. The reason shows like At4thW and MST3K exist is because there are people who really try to create something _good_ and successful but end up making things like _Plan 9 From Outer Space_ and Youngblood. "Johnathan Tailor Prophet."
Star of the hit 90s TV show, "Church Improvement."
Fun Fact when Jack Kirby was creating Darkseid, he was using Adolph Hitler as a reference point
That makes sense.
Sounds legit :3
Athavan Rajasingham huh neat
Tareltonlives More often then you would think.
Another fun fact: Rob Liefeld ripped off Jack Kirby's greaving widow so he could do his Captain America rip off Agent America
Linkara:Why do I always try to punch Robots? It never works
Fox:Give yourself a few more years,a few level ups,a bunch of your friends, a new wardrobe and a Movie. Then you'll show him

speaking as a woman here... i would buy a wonderbra that shot lazer beams. just saying
edddddization I would buy anything that shoots laser beams.
edddddization id buy it and im a man freaking lasers man
I AM A MAN!!! But I would still buy it!!!
I AM A LASERBRA WEARING MAN!!! *Punch*
It would have to be padded. All that circuitry digging into the Skin would be painful. I'd appear as an E but it would be worth it.
It is shameful when you look at a comic and think "wait is that Wolverine" with multiple characters in it.
If you're gonna do that, go all the way and give us a full Wolverine Squad! :3
Besides...we know there's only one guy who's good at drawing people in poses...it's Hirohiko Araki.
Yeah his art is sick
Damn straight!
SMAXZO *POSE*
SMAXZO I get that reference.
Your so wrong about this
Killing robots with magical guns is a daily routine for you, isn't it Linkara?
What a way to honor Jack Kirby by ripping off Darkseid and Captain America in the same comic issue
Darkthornne (or however you spell it) looks like Liefeld saw Omnipotus from The Tick and didn't realize his design was a joke.
+Kira Lawlet its spelled Omnipotus. Sorry to be a stickler. and Darkthornn is EVEN MORE RIDICULOUS
The "M" on my keyboard (and a few others) didn't always register when I pressed them had to replace it but I don't mind being corrected.
Kira Lawlet given the other reply's(?) it looks like you edited it but it doesn't say edited? Not in the comment but beside the time thing.
Kudos, Mr. Kara. Kudos.

Liefeld, thou hast never been, nor shall thou ever become, an artist.
A super-soldier hero, created by a scientist, stored in ice? Wait a minute...
HE’S RIPPING OFF CAPTAIN AMERICA!
I'm surprised Linkara didn't notice the Wolverine rip-off's 2 left feet on that splash page 🤣
14:35 "We are the Disciples of Doom..."
Doom?
Doom!?
Well, okay then, apparently the Disciples of Doom have abandoned Darkthornn for an actual Jack Kirby villain...
Hmm... are certain "storyline" episodes missing from this playlist? I feel like I missed "poiyo" entirely! D:
Fox: Dang it Wells, first Flash and now this
The Entity storyline is still the only one I've seen front to back but it was a lot of fun! I love the twist about what it ended up being and who it was.
Astrithor yup same
Astrithor is that a storyline from youngblood?
too bad you corrected it....we could have all pointed to the glitch as the entity appearing waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay earlier than he should have
It's funny that Brandon Graham's ver of Prophet ; Via 2012 relaunch , Redeems most of these characters , and takes then into the far future lsd /future techno/magic style. Wish more people rebooted like they did with Prophet

13:07 and suddenly the two of them decided to end it all with a farting contest to end all farting contests
8:04 Why did it take me this many years to realize that joke makes no sense? Oh god need to do math...
This issue takes place in the 90s, so that joke is ten years too late; and the captions preceding the ones Linkara read say Prophet was in that cryo chamber for 50 years not 80.
That two page spread that has to be turned on its side is worse for me because I read most of my comics off of a computer screen.
I found the glitch rather funny. I was like "where's the rest of Linkara?" right after snickering at it. I guess I'm easily entertained :P
The one cover looks like everyone is irradiated.
Kirby's estate should sue
Anyone know the title of the song at the end? I've been trying to find it, but I can't.
The "Tick Tock Tick, You're running out of time" one.
"Combat" by Ron Wasserman. ^_^
Linkara-AtopTheFourthWall Ah, thank you very much, Linkara. I just could not find it for some reason.
It's really an awesome song. :D
+Linkara-AtopTheFourthWall Does Spoony's Final Fantasy 8 vid show you & Pollo bringing him back to life?
Ironic that he said that Shadowhawk was taking the night back for lovers when the character ended up dying from aids...
Location: Otherwhere
And otherwhere has to fend for itself.
Ten years of Youngblood issue 2
Question about Mechakara: was it ever established why he's such a complete psychopath? Why did he end up so different from his counterpart Pollo?
+John Porteous By his admission, he saw his life with Linkara as oppression and slavery and absolutely despised organic beings. Whether that's actually what was going on is something I leave up to interpretation.
Linkara-AtopTheFourthWall The question is why Pollo didn't come to the same conclusion
John Porteous Watch the Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan episodes for the answer there. ^_^
The one that truly did a good tribute to jack Kirby was the tmnt 2003 series
The funny thing is though young blood made a comeback recently
So Youngblood, the robots, and that other mob, basically all turn up at the same place at the same time by sheer chance?
Wait... Dedicated to Jack Kirby and has a character named Kirby. it's a great idea... when Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird did it in 1986.
Ripping off the borg? I would've gone with Cybermen, myself.
I would have laughed even harder 5 years ago if the only thing to take down Mechakara was just a shot to the shoulder. I still laughed at the intro though, it was a great joke.
9:22 I was taking my peanut butter chocolate chip cookies out of thr oven.
Yes, that honestly happened.
How? I'm magic
Kirby and his giant staple guns!
4:16 That guy looks more like Beast than Wolverine.
Linkara looks so young here.
Wildmane has two left feet in splash page at the end.
I friggin LOVE SHADOWHAWK !!!
Do Combat and Prophet have some kind of teleportation technology that allows them to switch places!? I can’t stop laughing!
What a twist.
WIldmane looks like Wolverine and Beast had a kid...
...
...
That's what he is. Wolverine + Beast. Oy.
Anyone notice Riptide is in the exact same stance as the famous awful drawing of Captain America Rob did all those years ago?
This may be random, but Liefeild was Going to do a comic book with late rapper( one of my favorites) Eazy E.
Prophet just has the backstory of Captain America. LOL.
Did anyone notice the cheap editing at 16:43?
Since you said it I had to check. It was difficult to measure so I may be a little off but my thigh *is* wider than my head. Do I have Youngblood's disease?
nevermind what a said before you can't see that coming even if you knew what happens next
You know, you can just reupload the Power Rangers review as well so the videos are in order.
Yeah, but when I uploaded the Power Rangers review before, it copyright-flagged the MMPR theme used at the end. I tried to remove it, the removal failed, but the copyright notice disappeared anyway, sooo I don't want to tempt fate by reuploading it again.
At 8:55 that chick to the right looks like she is asleep
Then again so does everyone else.
6:30
>Linkara says that the New Gods are gods
Come Final Crisis review:
>Linkara says the New Gods are just super-advanced assholes
IS THIS THE CONTINUITY ALERT I HEAR
No, because the Continuity Alarm is meant to stop me from explaining all the extraneous continuity.
Not changing opinions.
Shadow Hawk speaks in 2nd person. Haven’t seen that stupidity to often.
What the song he’s using for Youngblood?
What was the name of that song at the end?
Aaaaaaand, in the span of a few days, we go from a perennial dollar bin denizen to a f*****g $30(!) dollar book🤣
God i still can't find the youngblood song.
Was this supposed to be an homage to AVENGERS #4 with Prophet as Captain America?
Man, El Pollo Loco
10:44 Even putting aside Cougar's terrible dialog, where the hell is he walking off to? And then the next time we see him, he's staring at Prophet's Crotchet. Where are the characters standing or moving in relation to each other in space? EVER?
What is that clip at 9:06?
so at around the time you reviewed Youngblood #2, you'd been reviewing comics for 3-4 years, right? I mean, I THINK Doom's IV was an anniversary video, wasn't it?

Linkara-AtopTheFourthWall ok thanks for the clarification.
What's the music at 16:18
The home team is just the Teen Titans, but bad. The away team is just the Avengers, but bad. The Disciples are just the Borg, but bad.
i never watched any of your episodes in order anyway, so i'm used to it by now. i'm pretty sure the story i have running in my head is vastly different than the one you've produced.
How did he do the 2 of him
I must ask you. Yes you see these reviews as a job,but....what was the most fun review to make? Be it due to the interesting story of development, the hilarity of the comic or whatever.
Is it wrong for me to think Mechakara would be cooler with a british accent?
A little played-out, but maybe.
I may get some slack for saying this. But I really enjoyed the Shadowhawk mini series. The mystery behind it kept me engaged and to be honest the art in my mind wasn't as bad as people made it out to be.

Which episode is it when Bat man hates rock and roll?
Batman Fortunate Son
Thanks Bro
MKB0NES no problem
Wait isn't Thanos a slight ripoff of Darksied?
So wait if mecha Kara says that he hates the ultimate marvel comics, does the real linkara actually like them or something? :/
They share tastes for the most part I assume.
ah ok
Rob Liefeld feels like a fan-fiction writer that got paid and had official mandate to write his stories
And by that, you mean 'a bad writer that got paid', right? Enough with the generalizations.
Wolverrine KO134 looks more like Beast from X-men
Wasnt Prophet one of his most popular titles
Possibly when Stephen Platt (aka "Splatt") was drawing the book. That guy was an incredible artist (probably still is but I have not read any new comics in the last 15 years so...?).
Can you do Shadowhawk
TOO LATE I ALREADY WATCHED IT.
AM I GOING TO DIE?
I DON'T KNOW! WE'D BETTER PANIC!
Fortunately I like panicking.
Always enjoy your work, Mr L. Hope you are doing good.
Jojo bizzare adventures would laugh at the ridiculusness of this comic
14:58:14:59
What a croq indeed.
Am I the only who thinks the Berzerkers look cooler than Youngblood (questionable anatomy aside)?
Honestly, the all just blend together into one blob of 90's artwork
How many Wolverine rip-offs can one comic have? 3 by my count. One of them is just a costume rip-off and is actually a knock-off Batman though.
There was a dumb scientist in this and we did not get a:”of course don’t you know anything about science!” Unlike!!!! Jk lol XD...ahhhh the cringe
00:39 anticlimactic ending thy name is mechakara
0:26
14:50 Yeah you can go to hell!
14:49 I feel like this shouldn’t be that big of a surprise considering Combat is already a ripoff of Worf

Mechakara is garbage tier
@Thomas Jenkins im curious to know what that tale is.
