You take the lead after the convoy is destroyed and continue to WP4 along the TSD route and once over there the pop up knee bored shows the location of a group of SF guys. You take up orbit over them and wait for the Blackhawk to pick them up. A couple manpads and AAA pop up and you fight your way out then RTB. I think it was still glitching because none of the other Apaches followed, but the dialog said they got shot down by the pop up manpads. 🤷🏼♂️
@@avion34 no. After destroying the convoy the flight lead just stayed in orbit over the convoy while the Blackhawk and his escort flew over the mountains between the convoy and base
@@TomP-148 that’s odd because when I reached WP4 I got the grid for the SF group and after about two orbits over there location a Blackhawk arrived and picked them up then there were the pop up manpads shooting and AAA.
Watching AI aircraft take off is always a treat lol. For me this was my worst mission until they updated it. I would constantly get hung up because the help would never do the pick up and I was stuck flying circles around the destroyed convoy. When the mission worked like it was supposed to after the update the twist at the end was a little emotional... though it wasn't a true CSAR mission. I doubt DCS has the ability to simulate a real CSAR mission.
I had that glitch happen also. Make sure that every vehicle in the convoy and all the infantry are dead. If not they just fly circles. Yes the vehicle the HVT is in is immortal so dont waste your ammo. Also I would follow the voice prompt of using rockets first and save your hellfires. What's supposed to happen after the HVT gets picked up is the broken back call, then the call to reform, and they reform and you pick up the rear spot and then proceed to cover an exfill. I played this mission 4 months ago and whatever update they did fixed it for me. Hopefully it's not broken again... it took me 6 tries between dying for stupid reasons and glitches to complete this mission. My biggest glitch was them never coming to do the pickup despite everyone dead. A few times I had some vehicles that weren't dead and we just flew endless circles. In more positive news there's another AH64 campaign coming end of June or early July lol

@@avion34 yeah I flew the mission a few times and continued with the route alone and found the SF dudes but nothing happened for me.

Dude I did this mission 3 times to see what happens but the flight lead just kept orbiting over the convoy. So I never got to see what happened
